Chapter 3: Charlikin the Asthmatic and the Pink Lizard
Long time ago in a faraway forest, there lives a tribe called the Asthmatics. These people like wearing hats full of feather, clothes out of hair of sheep and shoes from fur of animals.
Asthmatics are also known as a tribe who coughs a lot.
"Cough... cough... cough."
Anyone can hear them even from afar.
One day, a young Asthmatic named Charlikin asked his father, "Papa, how do you cure coughing? Cough... cough... cough."
The old man answered, "Son, the only cure I know is by eating a pink lizard. Cough... cough... cough."
Pink lizards are elusive animals living on branches of the tallest tress in the forest.
Charlikin is determined to find relief for his asthma so he spent days and night below the highest tree in the forest waiting for a pink lizard to appear.
One afternoon while Charlikin was lying on the ground to sleep, a pink lizard fell on his face.
"Pink lizard!" he shouted. "Cough... cough... cough."
But the lizard was so quick to jump back to the tree. Charlikin took off his feathery hat and climb the tree to chase the lizard.
"I will get you, pink lizard!" he said. "Cough... cough."
Charlikin rested for a few minutes on one of the branches of the tree ad threw down his cloth made of hair of sheep.
"I won't go down until I get you, pink lizard." he shouted. "Cough."
When he reached the peak of the tree, Charlikin cornered the pink lizard holding to a leaf. He then removed his furry shoes and walked slowly near the small creature.
"Gotcha! Now, my asthma will be gone."
Charlikin was about to swallow the pink lizard alive when all of a sudden, it talked.
"Do you still have to eat me?" The lizard asked. "You stopped coughing when you removed all your hairy and furry cloths. Didn't you notice?"
It was only then when Charlikin realized that he is just allergic to hair and fur of animals. He let go the pink lizard since eating it obviously has nothing to do in curing asthma.
From then on, the Asthmatics started using clothes made out of silk, cottons and fiber out of plants instead. And soon, coughing amongst them was lessened-- without even eating lizards. Ewwww!
