Chapter 6: Failing the quest and First Dungeon Dive

Damien grinned as he remembered the day he gained Shadow Manipulation.
After that day, his body became even sturdier and his physical powers were enhanced with mana, making him even more powerful. He practised his new abilities to their full extent, trying many things and gaining a bunch of new skills.

Damien was happy with his progress and continued training for three years. "It's been three years since I came to this world. I've become much stronger," he grinned as he looked at the roof of his room.
"Let's see my status; I haven't checked it in a while."

The maximum stackable effect is 12. This skill doesn't have any form as it is formless, so the host can evolve it and make their skill. The cooldown is 10 minutes.]

'Even though I've grown stronger, I still lack experience and combat awareness. I've never been in a fight with creatures or humans that can use mana and magicules…'
Damien thought of gaining experience through failing the daily quests, as the penalty will allow him to go to an instant dungeon, even though the system didn't give him much information about it, he knew this was an opportunity to get it.
With an exciting grin plastered on his face, he closed the status screen and drifted to sleep but before sleeping he didn't forget to activate his Mana Manipulation.
Why? Because his Mana Manipulation worked even when he was asleep.

Next morning.
"Damien, get up and come down! it's already morning sweetie!"
Daimen's eyes snapped open when he heard his mother's voice from downstairs.
"Yea, I'm up mom!" Daimen grumbled as he got from his bed and did a bit of stretching. He then headed towards the bathroom to freshen up.
As Daimen stood in front of the mirror, his deep purple eyes stared back at him. He was checking himself in the mirror.
'UmU,' he rubbed his chin, nodding approvingly at his refraction in the mirror. 'I've grown way more handsome from before.'
He wasn't being narcissistic. It was just a fact, he had a body that would make boys jealous and women lust after him, after all.
After checking himself out in the mirror, he headed towards the kitchen to eat breakfast that his dear mother prepared for him.
"Good morning, Mom."
"Good morning, dear. Did you sleep well last night?" She went towards Daimen and kissed his forehead, and proceeded to place plates on the dining table.
It was a simple nutritious breakfast with bacon, scrambled eggs, two loaves of bread and a mango milkshake. Even though it seemed simple, it was delicious.
Why? His mother was the fucking God of Cooking!
'Frfr.'
He thought, chuckling.
He took the beacon and started to chew on it.
[Ding]
He momentarily stopped and looked at the window which just popped up.

He took a glance and continued eating.
He didn't plan to complete it today as he wanted to go to the instant dungeon and see what it held.
After finishing his breakfast he got up, "Mom, I'm going to the forest to play." He informed his mother brieflyr.
She grabbed him before he could go, and then planted a chaste kiss on his cheek, "Take care, sweetie. Make sure you don't get hurt while playing."
"I'm not a child anymore mom," he grumbled, struggling out of her grasp. This woman was dangerous! "And yea, I will take care." He shook his head and a small smile adorned his face as he exited the house.
"You will always be my little boy, sweetie!" Before closing the door he heard his mother's voice.
He stopped slightly, smiled and thought to himself: 'Mom is too good for me'
Then, he resumed walking and made his way towards the forest.

*Chirp, chirp*
Birds on trees could be seen chirping, a snake hunting his prey and swallowing it in one go, a small squirrel eating nuts with little paws and amidst it al,l a boy could be seen standing drenched in sweat, holding two daggers skilfully, one on his right ribs and other on his left torso.
[Mana Manipulation – Activated]
"Fuuuh…"
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
— Snap!
With a snap his eyes opened and a purple-ish aura erupted out of him, swirling around him like a whirlpool.
[Formless Dual Dagger – Activated]
He didn't move, he just stood still.
— Woosh!
A sound of reminiscent of wind was heard, and his figure turned to blur.
— Slice!
He fluidly cut the trees around him in one go.
— Thud, Thud, Thud!
They fell down one by one, making the animals in the vicinity run out to the distance.
Every day Damien used to come to the forest and train his mana and his daggers' mastery.
He was improving at a fast pace.Hours went by, and Damien continued to train but he was stopped when a system notice popped up.
[Notice: Times up:- 00:00:00]
[The host has failed in completing the Daily Quests]
[Error… Processing… As a punishment, the host will be thrown into an Unknown Instant Dungeon!]
[Processing…]
[Successful]
[Beep!]
After a beep, the system disappeared and he looked around in search of finding a gate which should've appeared to lead him into the dungeon. However, what he didn't expect was that a black hole would form under his feet, and he would be swallowed whole.
Even though his instincts kicked in and he tried to activate Shadow Manipulation, it was too late… and he was sucked into it.
"FUCKKKKKKKK YOUUUUU SYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Damien kept falling into the dark abyss, his mind wondering: 'Is this the end? How many days have passed?'
After what seemed like a decade, he finally saw a blinding light indicating that he would be out shortly.
"Ahhhhhhhh!''
Damien kept falling.
When he looked down and saw flowing red lava, he stopped himself from pissing his pants right there and then before he quickly activated his Mana Manipulation and Shadow Manipulation.
His eyes lit up, and purple and black mana erupted out of his body, swirling around him like a whirlpool, protecting him from the extreme temperatures.
— Thud!
He landed successfully on the ground but the heat was too intense, so he was forced to use his Mana Manipulation all the time or the molten lava would burn him alive.
He sighed and looked around.
What came into view was a big red tower that seemed to pierce the sky, some bricks would occasionally fall off the tower. It seemed like it was pretty old. Some edgy villain's hideout maybe? Who knew what was in there.
Despite everything, Damien grinned excitedly.
'So this is the dungeon, huh?'
He thought as he made his way towards the tower. He was still keeping his Mana Manipulation on, and he would have to for the time being as well, since he feared burning alive otherwise.

'Hmm, a new tiering system, huh, interesting" Damien mused as he looked at the screen but then another system notification popped up.

[This a low-level dungeon containing:
Goblins from floor 1-15, 15th floor is Goblin King's lair.
Lizard men from floor 16-30, on the 30th floor One-Eyed Lizard king.
Ogres from floor 31-45, on the 45th floor Ogre King.
Lastly, on the 46th floor, is the Dungeon Boss, stronger than all of them.]
'Damn, so many floors…' he sighed. 'It will take a while to get through it.'
[Notice:- Time will be elapsed to 1 day in the dungeon 1 hour the Host's world, so the host can clear this dungeon while taking his time ^^]
'Phew, that's a relief… Mother would've worried about me otherwise.'
He sighed and looked at the dungeon door and all of a sudden, a grin broke on his face.
He stepped forward and opened it with just one hand as he pushed it. Then, he made his way towards Floor 01.
"This will be fun," he cracked his neck as his eyes glowed dangerously. His figure soon disappeared into the darkness of the dungeon.
