Chapter 2: Unexpected troubles

A long time ago a great man once said: "Change is inevitable. Change is constant." The world will always be changing. Constantly creating new challenges for each person. This is not a widely accepted opinion; many people do not want change. They want everything to stay the way it is. Yet the world does not care, it changes no matter how much everyone tries to stop it.

In an unknown location and time

"Fate... Destiny... New paths... forged," whispered an unknown voice silently as the changes came.

Location: Germany Heidelberg

Time: Year 1 of the new era Era: The Era of Change

It was silent, nothing moved, no one spoke. There was only darkness and fear. Fear of the unknown. Fear for what had just transpired. Until suddenly…

"Agh! Stop! Please! Stop!" "Hu... Hu... I can't... breath..."

The constant sound of people screaming in agony echoed everywhere, everyone was affected. Except for one person, this person just sat in confusion as all around him agony spread. "What... What's going on?! This.... can't be real right? Right?" Confused he looked around while his friends lay around him in pain. "First I have a weird dream! Then I hear explosions all over the place, and a weird voice starts talking! And now I hear everyone screaming and wriggling around as if they are having seizures!" thought Steven trying to figure out what was going on.

"Ste..ven..." moaned Evelyn in a weak voice filled with pain. "Help me... please..." Evelyn tried to muster her last strength to ask if Steven could help her.

"Evelyn! Just hold on, I am here for you, Phillip, and Michael. I won't abandon you all... Okay! Don't leave me!" shouted Steven as he realised that his friends were in so much pain that it looked as if they were about to die.

"Bastard... shut up!" groaned Phillip through whimpers of pain.

"Huh? Whew! It seems like I at least don't have to worry about you Phillip, if you can speak as usual, you'll be fine," said Steven laughing nervously, trying to calm himself down.

"You..." just as Phillip wanted to answer, a primal and ancient roar of an animal was heard.

"Roaaaar!!"

This was not the only sound that could be heard. Multiple, magnificent, terrifying wild roars of animals vibrated off the walls and through their very bones. These roars were from beasts. They were primal roars of monsters that came from the mouths of beasts. They were an entirely different breed of wild animals. Some of them, were three times larger than a normal wild bear. Some even had a look of intelligence in their eyes, an intelligence that one would normally only encounter in humans. Others had tougher skin, sharper fangs, and all sorts of unimaginable mutations. These beasts were much more ferocious than animals and more deadly than ever.

"What the.... What are those ugly creatures!" shouted Steven as he looked to see where those roars originated from. But Steven`s time was up, and he could no longer think about this problem. He had to act immediately. These beasts had an unending hunger. They wanted nothing more than to feast on their previous masters and captors. The humans were now their prey.

"Oh no... guys... uh… You need to hurry up!" gasped Steven as he noticed a multitude of different beasts coming towards them, the direction of their school.

"Ugh! It's not like we want this!" shrieked Phillip as he was trying to stay conscious in the never-ending pain. As Phillip shouted these words, the sound of screaming multiplied, as if the previous pain they had, was only the beginning and the true pain was only starting.

"Oh... this isn't going to end well... we need to get out of here!" whimpered Steven not knowing that this was only the beginning of a future that he never thought would be possible and the start of his "adventure".
