Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Sarah's P.O.V

We've all had moments where we resisted an inarticulate and deranged need of being violent and crazy over diminutive, minuscule agitations or troubles.

Indeed, a very difficult task we all find is to hold ourselves back from retaliating, especially when people sit in front of us giving us two cents of their brain when in reality, they never had any more than that.

My annoyed thoughts were the result of the two most beautiful girls in our area who had decided to visit us before our trip to London. Perhaps, God was making up for the empty floor in their skulls. Inevitably, their beauty worked as magnets for boys and turned several heads. But it all certainly seemed of no use when you talked to them.

It all started when word of us going to London spread like wildfires and like news of fifty percent sales. I still had hope that one day, gossiping so much would be made a legal crime and those who dared to cross the line would have to pay with their kidneys.

Stop your train of thoughts from entering a dark tunnel, Sarah. I scolded myself.

Back to the Ahuja sisters.

Women were supposed to be each other's friends, right? Whatever happened to fixing each other's crowns? The problem wasn't that they decided to visit us, no, the problem was they decided to visit us because they felt it was their birthright to give opinions that we didn't even ask for. They sat there, nagging us constantly with their attitudes and we could do nothing but smile and nod because I didn't own the house I was sitting in and I still very much liked to have a roof over my head. I don't get parents. They'd be out already if it wasn't for my mother.

Ruchika was looking at me with pleading eyes, silently begging me to do something about these two. I won't say I wasn't enjoying her misery. My phone dinged.

Ruchika: Double cheese burst pizza on me before our trip.

I grinned at the offer. Now, that was what held me back from using a simple trick for these pests.

Sarah: Took you long enough.

Ruchika: You're enjoying my suffering, aren't you?

Sarah: Ah, the peace I get from it.

Ruchika glared at me with newfound hatred.

A pizza deserved sacrifices. Not from me.

But it wasn't like she wasn't having fun answering them every time.

Nisha and Ritika as their names go, called out my name, breaking me out of my trance.

"Hey, are you okay?",Nisha asked, concerned.

Ruchika, through her coughing, mumbled, "We were before you came."

"What was that?",Ritika asked, her sharp eyes focused on Ruchika to which she smiled sweetly/sarcastically at her.

"I think she's just a little nervous, you know? First trip and all", fake laughing," constantly worrying about everything."

I glared at Ruchika.

Ritika and Nisha giggled, "Oh yeah", Nisha started, "you must be lost about how to go and all right?"

"Yeah, we're so scared." I mentally begged Ruchika to stop or I would really start laughing in their faces.

Nisha giggled, "Of course, you are! You both are always so timid. Can't even have a proper conversation with people that you know. You'd hardly be able to connect with the strangers there."

Ritika joined her, "And I hope you've taken some girl clothes with you and not some sacks."

Oh puh-lease, someone hold me the fuck back.

Ruchika closed her eyes. She was reaching her limit.

Ruchika: Throw them out before I put them in a sack and mash them like potatoes.

I pursed my lips.

Sarah: Big words.

Ruchika: Right now? No.

"You know being on the phone while someone's in front of you is very rude", Nisha commented.

"So is being a bitch."

"What did you say?",Ritika screeched.

My poor sensitive ears.

Ruchika rolled her eyes, "Please, get an ear machine or something."

Before anyone could further continue I chirped, "Oh! It was just your mother asking you to go back home. She said there was some kind of emergency back at your home."

She narrowed her eyes but trusted nonetheless. One secret, Ritika was a scared puppy around her mother. Her mother, one of the most genuine and kind ladies that I had met in my life. Unfortunately, she was blessed with Ritika.

"Alright, we'll get going."

"Yeah", Nisha agreed.

Ruchika was the first to stand up. Dusting her jeans she commented, "Thank you very much for coming and giving us some really good tips on how to face the big bad world. We couldn't have pulled off this trip without your moral support." If you could even call it that.

"Uh, what she means is thanks for coming here and wishing us well."

They both beamed, "We'll come to see you once you return so that we can talk all about your trip", Ritika said while Nisha nodded in agreement.

No.

"Yeah, bye." And they headed out.

"I don't think she'll want to come once she knows you tricked her."

I rolled my eyes."Trust me, she still would."

Ruchika shuddered, "If my uterus expands a hundred times its original size to give birth to someone like this then God and I are going to have some real problem."

I snickered, "Only time will tell ya. Now, you owe me a pizza."

Ruchika didn't bother arguing on this, "Yeah, sure."

"Be careful, okay?", mom said for the hundredth time after overcoming her initial hesitation to show her care towards me as I and Ruchika were standing at Mumbai airport, waiting for our flight. Our parents had come to drop us. I rolled my eyes and replied with a yes.

I was 21 for God's sake. Had travelled to other parts of the country for various competitions. So what if they were with my teachers? I suddenly started feeling like I had missed out so much of life. There was so much that I had yet to explore, so much that I still was eager to know about.

What totally blew my haughty attitude away was my mom's move to hug me. Initially, I quickly moved a little away from genuine shock. Why now? It was so unfair. I didn't have to show that I cared. After everything, I didn't need it anymore so why now? She must be really concerned if she was ready to forget our differences. I wasn't but I gave in because no matter what age you are, a mother's hug and love is something we keep wanting every day in our life.

Her wallet fell out of her hand while moving away. A picture of me and my sister, Nesrin popped up from one of the spaces, pulling me back to the times before her death. Mom was quick to pick up the wallet, tucking our picture back in.

That was her only picture. I didn't bother telling on her to dad. I knew she'd never let go of it.

Our parents left after five minutes leaving us waiting impatiently for our flight. One day went painfully slow as I and Ruchika couldn't wait to step our feet in London. We'd text each other and tell how excited we were and also how nervous we were to meet the boys.

"Earth to Sarah", a hand waving in front of me snapped me out of my thoughts. I shifted my gaze to Ruchika whose eyes shone with excitement for what was in store for us in the next twenty days.

"Uh, yeah ?"

"Did you not hear the announcement of our flight? C'mon let's go!," Ruchika exclaimed with a big grin and tugged my arm.

"Aww, look how excited you are to see Niall," I teased pinching her cheek as we made our way towards our plane.

"Shut up. And I'll be sitting on the seat near the window."

"You know that we aren't going by bus or train to see the scenery out there right?"

"Shut up."

After all formalities and shit, we were finally sitting on the plane. Ruchika took her window seat and I shook my head giggling. I sat beside her, people still coming in. Ruchika took her earphones and mobile out, making me furrow my eyebrows.

"Are you gonna listen to songs ?", I asked.

"Yes, why ?", she questioned and I rolled my eyes.

An announcement was made telling us to fasten our seat belts and switch off any electronic devices. I looked at Ruchika, grinning. She groaned and said, "I forgot." She switched off her phone as said and fastened her seat belt, me doing the same.

The flight took off and my nervousness about seating in a plane for the first time vanished, so of Ruchika. It wasn't that bad.

I realized that a pair of eyes were on me and I looked at Ruchika, who seemed to be nervous.

"What happened, Ruchika ?" , I questioned gently as I squeezed her hand while she shook her head, averting her gaze from me. I sighed and further sai,"You know you can share anything with me right ? ". She smiled still not looking at me and I further continued,"You've gotta share everything when we get to our hotel room." She nodded.

Finally, we were in London. It was already night time when we reached. God was it beautiful.

I stepped out of the plane, breathing the air of London. I looked at Ruchika who was grinning while looking around. Her eyes finally met mine and she let out an excited squeal, me doing the same.

"We're finally in London !", we both exclaimed simultaneously and chuckled.

"Oh God, I'm so tired", Ruchika said as we stepped into our hotel room. We were staying in the same room because darkness wasn't our good friend.

I took a look at our home for 20 days and found it to be peaceful. It was very beautiful. Ruchika arranged her clothes properly in the place provided for the clothes as I just lay on my bed.

"Don't you wanna unpack ?", Ruchika questioned as she was done keeping her clothes and was now lying on the bed.

"Eh, I'll do it later", I said shrugging it off.

"Lazy."

I rolled my eyes. "This room is so lovely", I complimented as Ruchika smirked. "After all I chose it ". I rolled my eyes yet again and I wondered how could they still function normally.

"When are we going to the meet and greet?", I questioned as Ruchika made herself comfortable on her bed, ready to sleep.

"Day after tomorrow". Ruchika said as she switched off the lights.

"Okay. In these two days, you talked about a lot of stuff with me excluding the main part that is us meeting One Direction, how lovely."

"Shut up and sleep."

My phone was in my hand when it vibrated. I looked at the screen and chuckled as I saw a message from Ruchika.

Ruchika: Hey. Remember me being nervous on the plane?

I smiled. We never were able to keep small things from each other whatever they might be and I loved it. I looked to my side and Ruchika's back facing me, a small amount of light coming from her side.

Sarah: Yes. What happened? Tell me.

Ruchika: I'm so nervous. I mean I hope it goes right and we don't embarrass ourselves or hope it doesn't get awkward.

I chuckled.

Sarah: You're silly, not that it is new.

I heard her laugh, making me smile.

Ruchika: Yeah, you know what they say about birds flocking together in a group.

Sarah: Ha ha.

Ruchika: Anyway, I hope it goes well. I think Nisha and Ritika were right about us...

Sarah: I hope as well. And they might be right but they were condescending about it. Judging us. Don't worry, babe. It will go good xx

Ruchika: Yeah OK ... Well, good night. X

Sarah: Night.

We were always like this. Fighting and then expressing everything we feel to each other through texts. We hardly spoke sweetly when it came to talking face to face and people would be like 'Oh god, you both fight a lot'.

But they never understood how many deep conversations we have had.

"Sarah?"

"Yeah?"

"I forgot to tell you something."

"What is it ?"

"We also got a party to attend.."
