Write a reviewThis isn't a pure European story, the author brings in Chinese and has some intense racism against India. The story is good but CCP influence seeps through.
A very engaging and well-written novel about European ambition, empire-building, and a very logical plot. I recommend this novel to history buffs.👍
I was apprehensive about reading this because a lot of people were saying it was racist and communist, but in the end I gave it a chance and so far I'm enjoying it. You must understand, before reading this, that there will be a lot of racism, because the year is 1850, so in many countries black people are nothing more than merchandise, if you feel offended by things like that, it is better to stop now, because there is A LOT of racism. The MC reincarnated as a prince of Prassia, but not of the direct lineage, but of a branch, he then decides to create a colony in East Africa, expels, kills and enslaves almost all the blacks and indigenous natives of the regions, because he wants only white people (Germans, Hungarians, Prussians etc.) and yellows (Asians, Arabs, Latinos) so that there is no revolt. I saw a lot of people criticizing MC for taking people from the Qing Dynasty (China) to populate the region, but anyone who has played strategy and management games knows that in China there are a lot of people available, so it kind of makes sense. He Mao is like those fanatical MCs we usually see in these Chinese stories, he reincarnated in German Prussia, so he tries everything to create a new environment consistent with his new homeland. There are many inventions so far (telephone, Gillette razor, cigarettes, electric lamps), I'm on chapter 160, there are probably many things I left out, but I recommend that you give it a chance, because in my opinion the novel is quite realistic, it doesn't try to hide what is happening in Africa and it shows exactly how things are handled at the time. I'm a dark-skinned Latino, so that makes me a little uncomfortable, but I thought it was a great read!
The novel has a good idea, and overall planning was fine. But itt has few similar problems that occur in translated novels like inconsistencies in names, repeating the same content in different paragraphs or across chapters continuously, over explanations, and some unwanted racism in addition to already existing racism in historical period.
Only skimmed the first chapter , seems like a good read. Will post a review when i finish. Author you should add the transmigration tag. Or maybe time travel i am not sure which one exactly.
A promising novel ruined by overt racism that grows more egregious the farther one reads. it starts off...not subtle, but historically acceptable for an MC founding a colonial kingdom in Africa. MC wants to drive out the natives to avoid typical colonial problems- fine. MC blatantly captures and uses slave labour to develop his colony-pushing it, but again at least it fits historical norms. MC treats black people like a disease, calling them N*****s and exiling anyone who gets close to them to Alaska- WTF? it gets to the point where half the story is just committing activities against the natives for poorly thought out reasons while treating his own colonists like shit.
am i they only one that's going to point out the blatant racism and misinformation from laying about the state of africa(saying there not resources rich or not to saying there where uncivilized) to uderplaying the colonial era and saying European development africa and saved them. to concept of the story it's literally a white savior the story
This novel is one of the better ones in the genre of kingdom building. However this specific one also specializes in the history trope and is as the title implies focused on the European colonial era(in Africa). It has some racism or the sort, but this common. Generally it is ok and perhaps quite interesting if you like kingdom building/history and there is no doubt that this novel is in the upper quality level of this trope, but I don't think this is part of the top ladder. One of the top novels in this category would be "Holy Roman empire". However whoever or whatever translates this one is really unqualified. Even MTL from years ago knows that Heixingren is supposed to be Hechingen as in the family Hohenzollern-Hechingen and not what was posted here... However questionable low-quality translations which seemed to have been fabricated by the shittiest MTL there is, is nothing new in this place.
