Chapter 2: No Regret

Snow Song Realm, Divine Ice Pheonix Sect

Ice spirits gracefully flutter atop the tranquil surface of a small lake, surrounded by an extremely cold atmosphere. This location, known as Heavenly Netherfrost Lake, is considered one of the Snow Song Realm's most sacred sites. Ice attribute practitioners, from the lowest disciple to the elder, enter this place to practice, as it is the holy land of the Ice Phoenix Sect. However, practitioners are only permitted entry with the Sect Master's permission, namely Mu Xuanyin, as she holds absolute authority.

Mu Xuanyin paces slowly on the calm, ripple-free lake's surface, unable to quiet the questions and worries in her heart. Yun Che, who had previously passed out, awakened shortly after her return to Snow Song Realm. After a brief period of confusion, he gazed at her for a long time before requesting to be taken to the Netherfrost Lake.

During their entire interaction, Yun Che has yet to address her as master or honored master, not even once. Mu Xuanyin realizes that their relationship has progressed beyond that of a master and disciple, but it has not yet reached the point where he can address her casually by name. However, upon awakening, Yun Che seems different not only in the way he addresses her but also in the way he perceives the world.

Mu Xuanyin repeatedly uses her divine sense to confirm that the man before her is indeed Yun Che, and she finds nothing amiss. He is undoubtedly the one and only Yun Che. However, his transformation puzzles her greatly, and she cannot shake off her worries even though several hours have passed since he descended into the depths of Heavenly Netherfrost Lake. Although this is a short time for practitioners, let alone someone of her caliber, Mu Xuanyin cannot help but be concerned as she waits for Yun Che to reemerge.

---------------------------------

The solemn voice of a young girl trembled as she expressed her disbelief at the events that had transpired. "It's hard to believe that such things could actually happen...fate really does enjoy playing cruel jokes on everyone." Slowly, she looks at the various events from Yun Che's memories, from the return of the Lord Heaven Smithing Devil Emperor to his role as the savior of the world, to the betrayal of those he had saved, and his eventual rise to become the Devil Master...

Only a few of them were selected by him for her to view.

Yun Che listened silently as the girl continued to recall the memories, he had shown her. Although he possessed an incredibly strong mind, even he had passed out from the pain when his soul had fused with the memories of his future self. The memories that he had seen were more brutal than anything he had ever experienced, and the regret he felt was worse than living in hell itself.

Although to Mu Xuanyin, it may have seemed like only a few hours had passed since Yun Che had passed out before he regained consciousness, his mind had been awake the whole time, processing the information he had received. His body just couldn't handle the pain and shock.

Even now, he still didn't fully understand what had happened, but he knew that everything he had seen was true.

Why? That's because inside his soul and inside his very God of Elemental Vein there have been a mixed of something he doesn't have before. The blood of the Devil Emperor, the full inheritance of Creation God of Life, even the World Defying Heavenly Manual, all of them have been transfer into his soul.

Furthermore, it wasn't just limited to the blood of the Devil Emperor, the complete inheritance of the Creation God of Life, and the full World Defying Heavenly Manual...

Upon further examination and contemplation, he realized that all of the inheritances of his future self had been fused into his very soul.

This included all of the knowledge, skills, and techniques that his future self had acquired over the years. It was as if his future self had passed down his entire legacy and power to his current self, no, his future self was not a separate entity from him.

Rather, what he experienced were the same regrets and pain that he would eventually endure in the future, as well as his fervent desire to alter the course of events that would lead up to that fateful day. He yearned to live a new life devoid of any remorse or anguish.

Even though he had not yet experienced what he had seen in his memories, he knew he could not take any chances in this life. He was determined to ensure that none of the events he had witnessed would come to pass.

He held a small mirror in his left hand that was deteriorating due to its cracks. The Mirror of Samsara, one of the Seven Profound Heavenly Treasures that had been with him since birth. However, because his future self had used it to pass on all of his inheritance, his wish, his everything to his present self, it had been damaged and broken.

Yun Che's current profound strength was merely at the Divine Tribulation Rank 9, which paled in comparison to the remarkable heights he would eventually reach.

Despite having received the full inheritance of his future self, almost all of it remained dormant, as the present-day Yun Che had yet to cultivate any of these legacies. However, he knew that it wouldn't be long before he awakened them.

Determined to right his wrongs and prevent any future misfortunes, Yun Che resolved to master all of his inherited legacies as soon as he awoke them. With the knowledge and techniques imparted to him, he was certain that he would become the strongest being in the shortest possible time.

Although the current limitations of the Law of God Realm prevented him from reaching the Divine Master Realm, he was confident that he could attain the pinnacle of Divide Sovereign within a month.

While Yun Che possessed a formidable array of legacies, including those of the Creation Gods and Devil Emperors, his most prized inheritance was that of the Ancestral Goddess herself - the World Defying Heavenly Manual and the Law of Nothingness.

If word of his possession of such a powerful inheritance were to spread throughout the Primal Chaos, it would likely cause greed and fears into the hearts of all who heard it.

It was widely believed that the legacies of the Creation Gods and Devil Emperors had long vanished from the God Realm, and even the so-called "King Realms" of the present era only inherited power from the ancient True Gods or True Devils.

Yet Yun Che wondered, if he of the future had inherited the complete legacies of the Creation Gods and Devil Emperors, and these legacies had been passed down through the Mirror of Samsara...could it mean that remnants of these legacies still existed in the present world?

Considering the fact that the inheritance Yun Che had received was from his future, it should not be affecting the present in the world at the current time.

---------------------------------

With the passage of time, the Ice Phoenix Spirit's quivering voice, filled with shock and fear, eventually began to subside. It had taken every ounce of courage it had left to still the turmoil in its very soul, but it managed to do so, and gradually turned to regard Yun Che with a newfound mixture of reverence and terror. Indeed, the feeling of fear was one that it had long since forgotten, lost to the inexorable currents of time.

Despite the Ice Phoenix Spirit's attempts to calm itself, its fear was palpable in its voice as it addressed Yun Che, saying, 'In what way may I assist you...Lord Yun?'
