Chapter 20: Attack in the Abyss

The deeper they went, the darker it became.

Hisashi, turning his head, looked at Whitebeard standing proudly on the deck of the ship.

"I have a feeling that something will happen."

Whitebeard laughed at Hisashi, "Gurarara! Leader, they only have to try to challenge me. I'm Whitebeard!"

But he hasn't even finished speaking that outside the ship, a cannon shot was heard. The problem is that a cannon can't be used in this abyss. It's totally not scientific and possible.

The only thing left is that someone or something attacked them with the same strength as a cannon underwater.

Only that the friction with the water should slow down a cannon shot, but in this case, it's like a train at full speed rushing towards the Moby Dick.

Hisashi has understood that he must shut his mouth and not raise a flag in these cases.

Not many Whitebeard's children can go out, and even fewer can fight at these depths. Especially this unknown enemy.

For this reason, Othinus, who had been reading in silence until then, raising her head, she looked in the direction of the attack with an expressionless face.

Looking at what attacked them, Hisashi was left speechless.

"A cannonball?"

Hisashi thought a second before that an attack like this can't happen, and here it is, in its full glory!

Immediately after that first blow, a series of rumbles reached the ears of the entire Whitebeard crew, to which Othinus responded by simply raising her hand.

In fact, this gesture created a barrier around the ship, protecting it from those attacks, which, even if they were launched with such force to be felt in that abyss, did not leave a single trace on that apparently fragile barrier.

Whitebeard's look was serious when he saw what Othinus did. He understood at first glance that not even an attack of his when he was young would have been able to damage this shield.

The next few seconds were quiet until something bigger than a simple cannonball hit the barrier.

Watching this "object," Whitebeard laughed happily. He did not expect to see this person here. Still, he understood why they were attacked here; in fact, only one person would dare to do this.

"Gurarara! Garp, I knew the navy would never sit idle when someone my size does something!"

That's right, the one who threw himself at Moby Dick is Garp himself. After seeing his attacks were mysteriously stopped, he decided to go in person, even if he was at those depths.

His body is harder than steel. Those depths and that pressure is nothing to him. It's like taking a walk.

Garp was thrown forward with a fist over the barrier. However, his smile did not fade, although there was some seriousness.

"Sorry, Whitebeard, even though we are longtime enemies, I have been assigned to sink you here and today."

Hisashi, hearing this, thought he had a problem inside his mind. Someone can speak underwater? How it's possible, not to mention he understood perfectly what Garp said.

For Whitebeard, this seemed perfectly normal. He didn't hold back at Garp's taunt. Laughing, he retorted, "Are you sure? Gurarara! I, Whitebeard, have never been afraid of anyone, let alone you!"

Just then, a voice reached the ears of the two old men, "Do you want to destroy this ship?"

Of course, the voice was aimed at Whitebeard, not Garp. In any case, the latter understood that this voice is the person with the strange power capable of blocking his blows.

Only that the person's vision left Garp petrified. He wouldn't have expected to see a "child."

"Whitebeard, I didn't think you were such a person, now children too ..."

Othinus did not flinch at what these two "children" were saying about herself. Personally, she doesn't care in the least about the safety of the members of this crew, only that the leader seems to have a good image of them. For this reason, she is protecting the ship.

Wasting no time, Othinus raised her hand again. This time no barrier appeared, or anything else. But Garp, who up until that moment was chasing the Moby Dick, felt like he was blocked by something. Immediately after, he felt like he was losing all the physical strength he had, and in the next split second, he found himself on the deck of the ship that he was assigned to sink.

Garp didn't show a flustered expression at all. In fact, he showed a smile and said, "Nice day today, isn't it?"

Some Whitebeard crew members actually looked up to check the time, but seeing everything dark, they immediately returned their gaze to Garp in a strange way.

Garp paid no attention to these looks. He focused his attention completely on Othinus, the same person he had initially recognized as a child.

He never expected this. He never expected to fall into the hands of a child.

Whitebeard seeing this smiled, "Gurarara! Garp! Now you don't want to sink my ship anymore?"

Garp shrugged, "I can't help it. I never expected there would be such a person on the ship. Tsuru could tell me this, the first thing I'll do when I'll comeback is to complain to her."

These interactions between Whitebeard and Garp are very peculiar. Hisashi now understands that even though the two call themselves longtime enemies, they are actually close friends in a certain sense.

Garp is a hero. This is known to all, while Whitebeard is the strongest man in the world, as well as one of the legendary pirates along with Roger, Shiki, and others.

In fact, Hisashi now understands that the common standard cannot measure men of this caliber. For this reason, a mental note has been made about this.

After joking and laughing, Garp's gaze finally turned serious. Looking at Othinus, he asked her the question he wanted to ask as soon as he was transported here, "Who are you?"

"I don't think I know you, or in any case, have ever heard of you. Such a strong person, it is impossible that is unknown."

Othinus was not interested in what Garp was asking. Lowering her gaze, she continued reading her book.

"Gurarara! Garp, give up. You won't be able to get anything." to which Garp did not respond. He remained silent, looking at Othinus, with a thoughtful air.

While Garp cheerfully argued with Whitebeard on top of the ship that he was supposed to sink, the ship Garp had arrived with was not so peaceful.

Every marine who accompanied Garp to this spot had a worried look. After all, it's been over twenty minutes.

Destroying a bubble made of resin is really easy with Garp's physical strength, of that they are convinced, and even if any of Whitebeard's children should intercept, Garp can easily knock them out.

Yet, after all this time, there is not even a shadow of the vice admiral.

"Contact Headquarter!"

It is unknown who said this, but immediately a marine took a Den Den Mushi to contact Marineford.

This situation is serious.

After a few seconds between the rings of Den Den Mushi, a voice has finally arrived.

The simple Den Den Mushi that previously looked normal, without any particular features, was now wearing a long braided goatee and a mustache, along with a pair of round glasses.

"Grand Admiral Sengoku!" The soldier immediately made a military salute, even if it is not possible to see it, it is a matter of moral code and rank.

"Give me a report on the situation immediately!" Without wasting time, Sengoku immediately asked the most important question.

The marine did not dare to hide anything, which is why he told how Garp, diving into the sea, has not yet returned to the surface after twenty minutes. When something like this usually shouldn't even last five minutes.

"Damn!" Sengoku's voice came again; only this time, he didn't look like a superior anymore. He was just worried. Den Den Mushi also reproduced Sengoku's expression at that time.

After all, Garp, along with Tsuru and Zephyr, have been his companions since his academy days. He will not be able to forgive himself if something should happen to him.
