Chapter 3: The Adventurer Guild
"Sorry to bother you Sir Alex, this is from the Government, we would like to take a bit of your time to ask a request from you !" said the voice.
"Erf, yes I will listen, just send me the address and the date."
Alex was a bit bothered with those kind of call, as it wasn't the first from this type nor will it be the last. 'bit still, sometimes their request are pretty fun so why not' thought Alex.
On the contrary, Lucie was curious about this kind of request coming from the government. Alex didn't know but she could hear the conversation thanks to her amazing hearing. Lucie looked at the handsome man with a curious gaze, Alex seeing this heaved a sigh and told her.
"This is probably about a monster that's ravaging their villages or bandits looting some merchants or whatever, it's most of the time trouble, but the pay is always excellent."
"Then it's good ! Anyway, now we're at the Adventurer Guild, so I'm gonna head home."
"Uhm, well thank you for that, also I'll see you around, don't forget about our date." He winked at her after saying this and left to the Adventurer Guild. He headed directly to the counter and asked the receptionist.
"Hello, I have a few mystical summoning eggs that might interest some adventurer." The receptionist looked back at him without much interest and asked him slightly irritated by this kind of adventurer.
"If you need to sell something you can always go to the market."
"I know that but those eggs are pretty good."
"Unless they have been appraised you can't sell those here, can I see their appraisal please ?"
Alex rolled his eyes and looked her directly in the eyes.
"They haven't been appraised, but I will put my adventurer licen-" The receptionist didn't let Alex finish his sentence and cut him off directly, looking at him like looking at a fool.
"If they haven't been appraised then I won't buy them."
Alex irritated took out his Adventurer License and gave it to the receptionist. She directly took it and looked at it, once she saw who it was, she opened her eyes wide, and her mouth kept opening and shutting.
*cough cough*
"I .. I am sorry Sir A..Alex, I will take a look at your eggs right away."
At this point Alex didn't bother talking to her anymore, he looked at her, she was on the verge of crying. If she could find a hole to hide in, she would definitely run in it. He took out 9 eggs and said.
"Those 6 are praying mantis, here we got a slime king and the final two are golden ape. I will let you take care of them and sell them at a good price, I will come back later." After which he left without waiting for an answer.
*bip bip* Alex just received a message, he took out his phone and look at it.

'uhm it's not too late, let's just get it over with already then I can go hunting'
Alex headed toward the Magic Academy, once in front of it he asked where exactly was the government house. He always got weird looks from people after asking those kind of questions.
'Tsss, looking young is cool and all but people always thinks I'm a weirdo, it's wayyyy too annoying.'
Alex then headed toward the government house, once inside he went for the information and asked for directions, once someone caught up with the information that he was Alex, they quickly led him toward the director's office. The director is somewhat like the president in terms of power, but since no countries have any more president, the director of the government house is basically the most powerful man in the country in term of influence. The government house takes care of the laws and the rules, and also supervise all Guilds.
Alex then entered a room, in which was the director, his advisor and 4 bodyguards. The room wasn't too big, around 50 square meters, but it was spacious. In one half of the room was a nice desk, made in full wood enchanted with defensive magic, windows which were also enchanted with defensive and supportive magic and a few chairs in front of the desk which looked plainly comfortable. On the other half of the room, was a spacious looking place, with sofas and in front of them a big tv screen. On the wall was hanging hunting trophy from wyvern and other monsters.
A man then walk toward Alex, he was wearing a black elegant suit and was looking like a bodybuilder. Once in front of Alex, he could feel that the man in front of him was a rank A mercenary. The man bowed respectfully and said.
"Thank you for coming Sir Alex. It's a pleasure to meet you, my name is Linos and I am the director's advisor." Alex nodded and look at him.
"Please take a seat Sir. Would you like refreshments ?"
"Thank you, I would like a beer, Heineken, large."
Linos then went to take a beer in the fridge and put it in front of Alex on the desk. After which, the director then look at Alex and started the conversation.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Alex."
"The pleasure is mine director." responded Alex without showing much respect.
"Then let's get directly on topic, I asked you to come here because we need your help in an errand."
"Please speak."
"Yes, as you may know or not, the next wave will appear south of Boro, so we started preparing the place to send our armies to fight off the wave. But as we were preparing the place, we got attacked but hordes of monsters and lost many men during the defense. Now we can't seem to take care of the monsters and soon the wave will appear and along with those monsters, it will be a disaster." As the director kept telling the story, his voice increased a bit his ton, Alex could feel the sorrow in the man's voice as he told about the losses they suffered.
"I see. What can of monster are they ?"
Hearing that Alex was willing to listen to their request, the man in the room all heaved a sigh of relief.
" they are a lot of different type of monster, but we are sure that the strongest one is an orc knight, and they are around 500 monsters in the hordes."
"I see, what are you willing to offer for the extermination of the monsters ?"
"We will pay double the price of all of the monster's core."
"Looks good then, but I have my conditions for it."
At this point the director didn't care anymore about the conditions, he just wanted those monsters dead.
"State your conditions please."
"First, I want to be paid in gold coins, second I want to fight the monsters alone, and finally i will fight them at the same time with the wave."
"Y-You want to fight all the monsters and the wave alone ?" All the people hearing that were shocked, this was the fiftieth waves, and 500 monsters ! What can a man do alone ? At this point they all thought he was crazy.
"That is what I want. Deal ?"
"Eh, Ye-Yes deal." Then both man shock their hand and signed a contract explaining the quest.
Alex then left with his part of the contract and thought 'eh eh, that's a lot of monsters. But the pay is still incredible. Monsters, Gold, Cores, what else do we need uh ?'
