Chapter 2: Human Puppy

Dylan watched from the roof top as the car slowly came to an halt.

He took both of his hands and brought it to his back.

"She is here…" He said in a low tone.

"Take her and prepare her well for what is to come, ensure that you don't skip a line" He said to the servants who had lined up behind him.

The three servants bowed then left.

Dylan watched his driver as he went to open the back door for the girl. He blinked, looking away, at the slim path leading to the city.

It disturbed him that his grandfather hasn't addressed the issue of him suddenly switching his partner. He wondered if the old lad was planning a coup or accepted his choice of woman. The former sounded more realistic.

He turned around to climb down from the rooftop when he came in direct contact with his grandfather.

Calvary frowned his wrinkled face, he moved his a little bit chubby torso towards Dylan and when he got to him, he hit Dylan hard across the face.

Dylan felt the pain. It was deep and raw.

The excruciating pain didn't come from the slap, it came from the bitterness he had when he realized his old man had just slapped him for the first time since he was born.

"June is going to cry to her father and we would be doomed. What are you doing?" Calvary asked with a brittle voice.

Dylan bowed his head and stood still.

"Father, you have seen the kind of woman June is, she doesn't listen. I don't want to live with her"

Calvary stride away from his grandson, he moved to the edge of the roof top and looked down, towards the fleet of cars parked in the front yard.

"As if you listen either. I have to keep telling you the same thing over and over again. If you had to marry someone that isn't June, could you at least chose from a more powerful family?"

"I don't want to marry a powerful woman" Dylan declared, turning towards Calvary.

Calvary watched him for a while and sighed.

"Dylan, is there something you would not do to stay in power?" He asked in his usual cranky old man's voice.

"I won't kill you if that is the only way left"

Calvary shifted from where he stood.

Over the years, he blamed himself for letting Dylan suffer so much in Elizabeth's hands. By the time he came to take him away, he was already becoming a monster and bullying kids at school. Dylan through high school sourced power and stayed in charge of every other kids including the ones with influential parents. He got to a point that he took over the teachers and made them change his poor grades.

Calvary tried to fix him by sending him to a private correctional school. Dylan couldn't take charge there, Calvary over saw that his friend who owned the school specifically trained and watched him until he began to fall back into a better person.

It only got better, it didn't vanish completely.

Dylan remained obsessed with power, he believed that was the only way he could protect himself from future Elizabeths.

"I thought June would be able to fix you completely. She is the exact opposite of you, I thought maybe you would see reasons to smile amongst people and trust us. I am disappointed you threw her out" Calvary regretted ever pushing June at Dylan. He didn't succeed at his plans, he ended up hurting June and creating a big top for the press.

"She was a threat" Dylan said as he came to stand next to Calvary.

"To what exactly?" Calvary inquired, he looked up at Dylan's tall, muscular figure.

"My existence" He replied unapologetic.

The evening air blew through his blonde hair, his face felt cold, he tried warming up by exhaling.

"Or ego?" Calvary asked, itching his full gray eye brows.

"It is part of my existence, the smallest thing in me doesn't want her"

Calvary huffed loudly, he dropped his head and asked "What makes you think the biggest part of you want the new girl?"

With a stoic voice, he responded "My body and soul loves to put people under me, she is going to be obedient, trust me and watch it happen"

There was a moment of silence before Calvary suddenly snapped his head up and looked at his grandson. It was as if he had seen a ghost.

"Did you buy a dog?" Calvary asked, inwardly praying that he gets a no. Dylan didn't buy himself a wife, he prayed silently his favorite kid hasn't grown so worse.

"A human actually" Dylan said, coldly.

Calvary made a small disappointment sound.

That was it.

Dylan never dated or had any woman he liked. There came a time when Calvary wept at his feet and asked him to fake a relationship with any random girl just to forfeit the false news that he was gay. Dylan didn't do it, that was why June was brought into picture as an ass saver.

Now he has thrown June out then bought himself a human puppy.

"My wedding is in five days, you might want to make some personal preparations" Dylan interrupted his grandfather's thought.

Calvary jaw fell at the revelation.

"I am getting married as you wish, you can stop threatening me about making Cole your next of kin"

End of conversation.

He walked out on his stunned old man.
