Chapter 2: Chapter 2
The first few days we just spent it around the pool and watching series. Life in this town is going to be good. This town is privately owned. Apparently, it has been in the same family for generations. I always find it weird that this town does not have directions or the fact that it is not on the map. If you do not know about this town you will never find it. For a small town, they are doing well for themselves. There is a good school and a college and business in this town is booming.
"Good morning Liam, how are you doing on this wonderful day?" I ask my cousin. I have not seen much of him. He is either working or with his girlfriend.
"Good morning to you to Emma. What is that smell? Are you making breakfast?"
"Yes, I am making my famous everything breakfast." Everyone loves my everything breakfast. This breakfast is huge. There is bacon, sausages, toast, eggs, grilled tomato, fried onions, mushrooms, beans and my favourite French fries. As I said, this is a huge breakfast.
"Do I smell everything breakfast?" Ben asked
"Yes, you do. I am making my famous everything breakfast." I said smiling at Ben
"Wait, what do you want? The last time you cooked the famous breakfast I had to take the two of you for paintball shooting. I was not impressed. The two of you tricked me into being the target!" Liam looks at us suspiciously.
"No, it is nothing like that. I thought it would be nice to meet your girlfriend. I have been here for three days and not once did you bring her or take me to meet her. Is there something wrong with me that you have not brought her here?" I ask Liam with a hurtful expression.
"No, there is nothing wrong with you. I just thought that you and Ben would like to have some time alone before I bring someone over. You know for the two of you to reconnect."
"To reconnect? Brother, you have it wrong. The two of us was never disconnected. We are so connected we can almost read each other's thoughts." Ben said proudly.
"Okay, I will ask her if she wants to come over tonight," Liam said.
Ben and I gave each other a high five. We won the battle.
"You will like her, she is our age. I was in school with her. She will go to college with us after the summer break." Ben said while he is eating his breakfast.
Ben and I went to do shopping to get food and snacks for the evening. We ran into some of Ben's friends. They all seem to be nice. But they all were acting a bit strange. I do not know how to explain it. It is like they all share the same secret that does not include me. It was like they were having a conversation in their heads with each other. I know that cannot happen. But it feels like that and my gut feeling is telling me something is up. From experience, I learn to listen to my gut feeling. It has never let me down.
Ben drops me off at home and said he had to go meet up with his friends. I asked if I could go as well be he said not this time. It is a boy's thing that he needs to do and that I would not like to be a part of it. I thought that is strange. Ben and I are never without each other. I accepted his answer with the excuse that I will sort the food out for the evening.
In the distance, I can hear wolves howling. That is the thing with this town. It's got this mystical feeling about it. The wolfs howling is no strange thing. I remember it since I was a little girl. But I have never seen a wolf. I only hear them. The wolfs howling does not scare me. In fact, it makes me feel safe and protected. I do enjoy the sound of the wolfs howling. One time I did mention it to my uncle and he said the wolves are part of this land. They are the protectors of this town. Anyone that lives here will be protected. That answer made me feel safe, made me feel like I belong here.
I have prepared all the snacks for the evening and set them all up in the media room. We have decided to just take it slow with Liam's girlfriend and watch movies.
I hear Liam pull up in the driveway. I ran towards the door and swing it wide open. From the top of the steps, I see how Liam opens the door for his girlfriend. The way he looks at her made me think they have more than just love. By the looks of it, they have connected on a different level. Ben was right; Liam does treat her like she is made of glass.
"Eleanor, meet my cousin Emma. She will be going to school with you and Ben." Liam introduced us.
"Hello, Emma. It is wonderful to finally meet you after I hear so much about you. Liam and Ben do not stop talking about you. It feels like I know you already." Eleanor greeted Emma.
I leap forward and give Eleanor a hug. Yes, I am a hugger. She was hesitant to return the hug but finally giving in she hugged me back.
"Nice to meet you, Eleanor. I have been begging Liam to meet you; he is trying to keep you all to himself. I am sure of it." Eleanor is tall not as tall as Liam but much taller than I am. She's got long brown hair. Her face is a heart shape with chest brown eyes.
"Where is Ben, I thought he would be here with you?" Liam asked.
"We run into some of his friends and he said he must go with them to go and sort some boy's things out. He did not really say. But they were all acting a bit weird. I am telling you, those boys can talk with each other by reading of minds." I said to Liam and Eleanor.
Liam and Eleanor give each other this look like they know something.
"Oh come on Emma, you know that is not possible," Liam said
"That is what you say! I believe it is possible you know I know this town is magical. Don't try and tell me otherwise. I am going to ask Ben about it as soon as he gets back in. Come, I have set everything up in the media room. Hope you feel like watching movies Eleanor, I have chosen some good ones"
"Out with it, what are the movie themes for tonight? Ben and Emma got this thing when they watch movies it has to be a theme. Just a friendly warning, do not try and watch something off theme they will have a pity party."
"You know it! Today I heard the wolves howling and I thought why not wolves. I have selected movies with wolves in them. You remember how you always told us the story of the three little pigs?"
"Oh, you did not add that to your list. Please tell me you did not?"
I look at him smiling nodding my head yes.
"I loved the three little pigs. My mother told it to my brothers and me. Let's start with that." Eleanor gives Liam a kiss to win him over so that he will watch it with us.
It was late when Ben returned he joined us in watching movies. He caught on to the movie theme and just laughed at Liam when he heard that we made him watch the three little pigs.
Eleanor, Ben and I fell asleep in the media room. Liam is the only one who can stay up late. He covered us with blankets and picked up Eleanor and took her to his room.
Ben decided he will treat us to breakfast. Let's just say his treat is a bowl of cereal.
"I made you all breakfast." Ben is very proud of the fact he made breakfast.
"Not by the hair on my chinny chin, chin did you make breakfast." I smiled when I said it.
"You will eat your breakfast by the sight of my chinny chin, chin." Ben showed me his chin.
"Not this again, how long will it be before the two of you stop this. This is the reason why I stop telling you two the story of three little pigs." Liam is annoyed by us.
"Oh let me think, never! The big bad wolf will not stop until he has blown down the little brick house." I said looking at Ben to back me up.
"You know it. He will always try and get in. It is our duty to let the wolf know that he will never get in."Ben and I had this theory that we are helping the little pigs by saying not by the hair on our chinny chin, chin.
Eleanor was sitting on Liam's lap eating her breakfast. Then all of a sudden she gets up and said she had to go home. She and Liam walked up the stairs to their room to go and get changed and leave to take her back home.
Ben and I were sitting outside when a wolf starts to howl. Ben suddenly looks anxious and uncomfortable. He had this sense of urgency about him.
"Emma, I need to go but please whatever you do today, do not wander into the forest. I know you like to walk to the lake but not today." Ben looked at me in all earnestly
I know something is up but what. My cousins are acting weird these last few days. Weirder than normal. I looked up at Ben holding my hand behind my back so that he cannot see I am crossing my fingers and said okay. The wolves have been restless in the forest. They were howling more and more. Last night it sounded very close to Liam's house. Today is the day I am going to find these wolves. I want to see one for myself. I always try to spot one when I am walking to the lake but I never do. I can hear them walking around the forest but every time I turn around to look they are gone.
