Chapter 2: Gathering
As I made way no one noticed me, it feels weird somehow, almost every Asian ethnicity and a few western ethnicities are here, and I always wonder, why is it always Korea?
Well I'm Korean now so I have no qualms but still it feels weird, while I may have not read or played but I do know most famous dungeon novels always occurs in Korea.
Korea hosts the most famous dungeon academy, currently its in its 20th Year, My parents were graduates and were the first generation that graduated from the Academy and considered second generation Hunters.
Yoo Chanyuk, My father, wasn't a very skilled hunter, but he was smart and instead worked on the sidelines as an analyst and inventor, that's where his talents is and now he is a sought after Crafter.
Kang Yuna, My Mother on the other hand, her class was a priest, but not just any priest she knew a lot more due to her curios nature, and she has researched about ancient holy runes thus she became an a sought out enchanter.
For how they met I don't even want to know.
My Grandfather, Yoo Minhyun, was part of the first generation dungeon adventurers, they had to face the unknown basically and were called the Golden Generation because it was always the strong that made the rules.
As I finally arrived at table where they take the names of the students one of the staff noticed me and gave me a good look right before I could queue.
"Ah Yoo Sunwoo, come this way please your registration has already been done ahead of time."
"I guess by my parents, well lead the way."
"Yes, your parents are also one of the top donors, they are the number one donor for the decade the resources they've given us has allowed the Academy to flourish, this is the least we can do for you."
I followed the male staff member who led the way, it was to the auditorium, I finally had garnered the attention of the new students who would soon be my classmates.
"While we gave you preferential treatment it is only up to the facilities, you family has prepared you your own suite in the dormitories, but as for your performance that will depend entirely upon you."
"I understand."
"There are two hours left before the orientation starts would you like to go there or?"
"Let's proceed to the auditorium please."
"Very well, your ID and other essential equipment will be sent to your room."
"Thank you."
As he opened the door there were already a few students who were either sitting at the middle or at the back, I looked around and this place could hold up to fifty thousand people or more.
I didn't hesitate and sat the most front, sure there will be gossip but I don't care right now I have to assess the situation at what type of novel this is.
As I waited, the place was getting filled up, eventually to the point that everyone was already here I think, shortly after Old people and middle aged people came to the front of the stage and sat.
"Good day everyone, today marks-"
I didn't continue listening to the speech by that old guy, perhaps he was the dean or something like that as I was listening to any peculiar disturbances such as a random guy opening the door randomly.
To my surprise there wasn't any commotion it wasn't until someone poked me that I was out of my trance.
"You've been sleeping since earlier, The faculty looked at you quite menacingly."
"Thanks I guess? Well that has to be bothersome but I don't think they'll hold it against me."
I finally opened my eyes to see a rather average looking male, by his face and appearance he gives the vibes of 'Sidekick' material seeing how reliable and nice he is.
"You've got guts I like that! What's your name?"
"Its Sunwoo."
"Nice to meet you Sunwoo, the name's Mino!"
"Likewise, did everyone leave for the classroom orientation?"
"Wanna come with me? I'll drop you off to where your class is, I'm from Class A of course! That's where the best of the best are, and I have to say I'm the best at fighting with my fists!"
"Then I want to see where Class A is."
"Sure!"
I followed Mino, he kept talking about his background and would try to probe me about mine as well, I just told him that my parents were store owners, not like I wasn't lying about it.
"We're here Sunwoo!"
I nodded, I immediately went in and sat at the front, Mino was surprised, this room had a table that could seat to two persons at the same time, there are a total of 25 tables which means this class only handles fifty students
"You were also from Class A?"
"Of course, do you want to sit here?"
He had a look of confusion on his face while I just stared at him waiting for his answer.
"No thanks, I heard that you can sleep through all the classes that are about theory while I may not be smart I don't want to look really bad."
"But you'll still look bad regardless whether you sleep at the back or at the front so I'm just gonna sleep here where the air-conditioning is at its best, I've already calculated"
"This bastard?"
"In the winter this seat is close enough to the windows to remain warm, and yet not so close as to cause perspiration if they ever decide to not use the air conditioner. In the summer it's directly in the path of a air-conditioning and I like the cold when its too hot. It faces the board at an angle that is neither direct, thus discouraging conversation, nor so far wide to create a parallax distortion"
"What are you talking about."
"This is now my spot."
"You know you could have just said that, well I'll be perhaps 3 rows behind you."
I nodded at Mino, I certainly garnered attention again as I felt the gazes of my peers around me after that whole paragraph I memorized but it does guarantee me a bit of peace and quiet.
After another few minutes of waiting and observing the class was finally noisy it looked like everyone was socializing and by the look of it Mino was already bragging.
"Can I sit here?"
"Sit there but certainly not here as this spot is perfect for me since-"
"I heard you"
"What?"
"I heard you the first time, that's why I'm also sitting here since I want to face the board at an angle that is neither direct, thus discouraging any further conversation as well unless it is necessary."
'This bastard?'
I looked at the who was talking and judging by the voice it was a female, I looked at her, she had black hair and black eyes, she was beautiful I won't lie, judging by the aura she gives.
She's certainly the 'Ice Cold Beauty' type or the 'I have a Dark Past don't touch me' type either of the two, or variants of the two, or both?
"Understandable have a good day"
Silence then proceeded to be with the two of us as we waited for the instructor, I was glad that I didn't have to wait too long as she arrived.
"I'm Professor Kim Eunkyung, I'm announcing this today, the person that's next to you is your partner for the entire year, You're responsible for them and they're responsible for you!"
I looked at the woman beside me, our eyes met and just like we were in sync, we just nodded, I gave her my phone and she gave me hers and we exchanged our contacts just like that.
I like people who understand what to do immediately so I'll be nice to her since she's like that despite her current state.
"Sunwoo."
"Joo-hyun."
