Chapter 59: Cheetah Cubs

The Cheetah cubs started to whine in their high-pitched cries. They were hungry and exhausted from being born. They cuddled blindly closer to Amber getting closer to her scent.

Amber felt her milk leak out at the cub's cries. Oliver helped her adjust the cubs so she could feed them easily. They hungrily suckled and started to kneed at her breast with their sharp needle-like claws.

Amber hissed in pain and tiny spots of blood formed on her breasts. Nick was furious and pulled the cubs away from their mother. He would rather starve them to death than let them hurt his mate!

Amber tried to console him, "It's ok. I am fine. It just stung a little."

Nick held the cubs away and responded, "They hurt you. I won't allow anyone to hurt you as long as I'm alive!"

Amber heard the cub's cries get louder. Her heart was torn between her cubs and her mate. "They are only newborn babies. They didn't mean to hurt me. Give them to me. They are hungry."

Nick looked at the cubs with a glare and roared. He told them in his beast language that if they hurt his mate again he would let them starve to death.

They stopped crying and nodded their tiny kitten-like heads in response. They were beast men and they respected their king even if he was their father.

Nick reluctantly handed the cubs to Oliver and Oliver helped them get comfortable with Amber again so she could finish feeding them.

Amber petted their soft fur while they drank and she smiled looking at her babies. She never thought she would have Cheetah cubs and a baby monkey, but this world was different from hers.

Eli watched wide-eyed as his younger brothers ate his mother's breasts! He was worried that they would kill her. He jumped up and down and made monkey noises to tell his father to stop them.

Oliver responded in his beast language that they were only drinking milk. It would not harm his mother and it was normal for baby cubs to drink milk from their mother for a few months.

Eli calmed down at his father's explanation and went up to the cubs and his mother to get a better look at them. Amber noticed him approaching carefully and held out one arm to let him come closer. She used her other arm to cradle the cubs.

Oliver helped her sit up and placed a fur pillow under her arm to cushion the cubs. Eli looked at the little fur balls that were suckling and saw their tiny black noses. They were kind of cute.

Nate opened his eyes and looked at Eli. Eli noticed he had the same eyes as his Uncle Nick. Oliver looked between Nate and Uncle Nick. Amber laughed as she saw his curiosity. She explained, "Eli, this is your half-brother Nate, and the other one is your half-brother Raj. They are your Uncle Nick's cubs."

Nick's eyes softened as he heard Amber talking about him and his cubs. Maybe it wasn't such a bad thing to let them stay. If it made Amber happy, he would tolerate the little fur balls that hurt his mate.

Raj opened his eyes when he heard his mother say his name. He looked at her and they had the same eyes. Eli noticed his younger brother's eyes and looked back and forth between his mother and brother.

Nick saw Raj's eyes and his heart softened even more at the sight of his mate's eye color on his son. After the cubs finished drinking milk, Amber introduced them to the rest of the family.

They were a little overwhelmed with all the family members and fell asleep with exhaustion. Nick took the sleeping cubs and placed them on their fur rug. He was jealous and wanted to spend time with his mate.

Amber noticed his jealousy of his sons and laughed. She cuddled in his arms and smiled, "They are so cute, but I still love you. Don't be jealous of the cubs."

Nick hugged her tighter and let out a sigh. "Mhm," he felt better with her comfort. Amber quickly fell asleep in his arms with the exhaustion of giving birth.

Barry helped Oliver clean Amber gently while she slept. Tom and Tyler got more water and boiled some eggs for Amber when she woke up. Fred helped to clean off the cubs with a warm fur rag while they slept.

Blue Tang watched quietly and wondered if Amber would be as happy when she gave birth to his mermen and mermaid. She had already promised him the next birth would be his. Now he just had to wait for her to recover from this birth.

She did well during the delivery. The herbs Barry gave her seemed to help a lot. He would have to remember them for next time.

Oliver told her when Amber woke up that she would recover in a month and be back to normal in 2 months.

Blue Tang asked if there was anything he could do to help her heal faster. Oliver recommended she eat more fish and coconut milk to help her get more nutrients. She already ate a healthy diet with fruits and vegetables.

Blue Tang went to the nearby river to catch some fish for Amber. He could make it into soup for her when she was hungry later.

He also remembered the seaweed in the ocean that had great healing properties for the skin.

He told Nick that he would head to the sea and retrieve some seaweed for Amber's skin to recover more quickly. Tom offered to fly him there so he could return faster, but Blue Tang refused. He could swim fast in the river till it reached the ocean. Tyler offered to go to the shore to collect more coconuts.

Fred went to gather more nuts and berries. Barry gathered honey and more maple syrup. He knew about Amber's sweet tooth. Nick and Oliver stayed with Amber and the cubs. Eli went to sleep next to his mother and brothers.

It would have made a beautiful picture if there were cameras in the beast world. Amber was lying in her mate's arms in the middle between Nick and her children. Oliver watched the scene with a warm smile on his face. He hoped nothing would take away their peace and happiness.
