Chapter 11: Vicky Master Of?

I walked to my first class with Vicky, she was one that I couldn't get a good read for. Her whole demeanor was strange to me, down to the way she carried herself. As I drew closer to her class, I saw one man running away, followed by Vicky laughing maniacally. I stopped dead in my tracks, shocked at the display I had just witnessed. The hair on the back of my neck yelled at me to turn away and just get to class but my curiosity won out. I watched as she jumped into the air with nimbleness unknown to most people. Her legs wrapped themselves around the Man as he howled in fear. He tried to get her off him as she produced a large vile of thick dark green steamy liquid. She retched his arm out and poured the liquid on his skin. His screams of fear turned into ghoul-like howls of pain. His skin bubbled and burned away as if acid had been poured on him. Vicky leaped off of him doing a flip and landing perfectly on her feet. She brushed off her clothes and adjusted herself. The man was still screaming as the liquid spread across his skin. The air filled with the smell of burning meat. She turned to me and smiled sweetly.

"Hopefully your hands aren't as touchy as he was Mr. Dewitt." She giggled as she walked away without looking back, humming an unsettling song as he skipped away.

I shuddered at her actions. I was cold but she was ice. I reluctantly followed her as she led the way to where she held class. Several very nervous students sat fidgeting with their outfits.

"Please welcome Mr. Dewitt to our wonderful class." She happily said.

Everyone quietly said hello without taking their eyes off Vicky. Her movements down to the way she talked were preplanned as if she knew everything that would happen next. Her grey eyes observed everything in an instant. Her reaction speed was beyond unheard of. She was truly powerful well beyond anything I had seen. Her eyes locked on mine, I swore a sparkle and a flash of a smile. I shook it off as I stood next to the other students.

"Today we are going to learn simple compounds that can help with healing an injury. Out in the field, there will be times when you get injured and it's just outside of your abilities. This will help you survive the situation." She began pulling out several herbs and materials.

She went through each step with us individually. Making sure we had the steps down perfectly. Her style was gentle and reassuring. She was excellent at instructing others. I learned the first aide technique fast and had it complete within the first half-hour of the class.

"Very good you're ready to move to the next step. Experiencing the situation. I will inflict one wound on you so you can properly experience what to do." She said leading me to a large dirt circle.

She made me stand on one side while she walked to the opposite side. She looked at me and smiled.

"Are you ready?" She asked.

"Oh, I'm pretty sure I will never be," I replied with a nervous laugh.

She laughed then was gone, a gust of wind slamming into me. By sheer luck, I managed to block her stabbing strike. My hand caught her at the wrist. She looked up at me with eyes of pure shock as she used the force of her first attack to fling herself into a kicking position. She aimed a solid kick at my head and once again at the very last second, I managed to block with my forearm. I flung her back to her starting position, and she flipped and landed upright. A huge grin on her face.

"Special indeed with a fighter's spirit. We defiantly have a rising powerhouse with you, Jason. I wonder how long you can keep up!" With that, another gust of wind shocked the area.

Out of instinct, I rolled forward and spun around catching another perfectly aimed high kick. I rushed her pinning her leg up and sweeping her other leg from under her. She used the momentum to wrap her arm around my neck and rolled us into a ball. She flipped me over her and jumped to her feet. I rolled back and stood facing her. She began maniacally laughing, that same maniacal laugh she had when she killed that man. she charged me swinging wildly. throwing kicks at odd intervals. I tried everything I could to keep up, but with each round, I could feel the gap rising, however, I wasn't willing to get wounded without fighting with everything I had. Vicky seemed to be enjoying every second. The more I persisted the more she enjoyed herself. Her strength grew with a hit as if with each one she was trying to see how much more I could take. Finally, after twenty minutes of fighting, she got me. A knife hand with literal meaning. Her fingers punched through and cut me deep. A warmth started to flow from the wound. I staggered and stood ready to fight more. My body was conditioned after years of abuse to stay standing even after the odds had been lost. She turned to me with utter shock on her face and then a large smile.

"You did good kid my lesson isn't death but preventing it. I am glad you gave it your all to learn though. It's been a while since I could cut loose a bit. Now apply what I taught you others are waiting." Vicky said nodding.

I applied what she taught me as she continued with the other students. Some at the stage I was. Applying the skill set we had been taught we all patched ourselves up. She walked around to see if anyone had done it wrong. Those that did would be flunked out of the class. She stopped at me and smiled.

"You would pass Mr. Dewitt. Good, I have so much to teach you." She said walking away. I shuddered at the thought, however, I felt like I learned much more than the first aide. I had seen power well beyond me and I had no way of competing with it. In the end, I realized she had only been playing with me, like a cat with a mouse. What had I gotten myself into? I had to get stronger to defend against the true monsters of this world. I had wondered what my new goal was after my revenge, and I had found it. To be the strongest.
