Chapter 1: Tools of Banishment

Boom, boom, boom!

Boom, boom, boom!

In the morning, an urgent knock on the door echoed through the silent house.

A mature and experienced man opened the door, his surprise evident as he beheld the visitor.

"Ms. Moissan?"

The tired old woman standing there was familiar to him. Anderson, in his past life, recognized her instantly. She had visited his church numerous times to pray and was a devout believer.

"What can I do for you?"

As soon as Anderson appeared, the old woman's hands clenched helplessly as she began to pray.

"Father Anderson, please save my daughter."

"Are you referring to Sarah? What has happened to her?"

Anderson thought of the quiet girl with the gentle voice who often accompanied the old woman. His memories of her were faint.

At the mention of her daughter's name, the old woman's eyes welled up, and she spoke hurriedly.

"Yes, Father Anderson," she said, her voice trembling. "I fear that my daughter has been possessed by evil spirits..."

"Oh God, she spoke in a man's voice and even attacked me and Sandy. Right now, we've had to restrain her to the bed."

"Father, please save my daughter. I can feel her suffering..."

"..."

Anderson's eyebrows furrowed as he listened to the old woman's account, accompanied by a mechanical sound echoing in his ears.

  Random missions were back.

 [Exorcism]

[Please rescue the girl from the clutches of the devil]

  [Success reward: Points + 5]

  [Accept the task?]

This kind of random task was impossible for Anderson to refuse, so he accepted it without hesitation.

The five-point reward task wasn't too challenging, but if it were hundreds of points, he would have to consider it more carefully.

"Ms. Moissan, do not fret. At this juncture, Sarah is still safe."

Although Anderson's tone was reassuring, the old woman remained hesitant.

"But, but..."

Anderson offered a gentle and confident smile. "Ms. Moissan, you must trust in the Lord. He will not forsake his faithful."

With that, Anderson removed the cross hanging from his neck and handed it to the trembling old woman.

"This cross has been blessed with holy water. Please return home and hang it on your daughter's door. It will provide temporary relief until I arrive."

Anderson's calm demeanor, coupled with the holy symbol before her, somehow eased the old woman's anxious mind.

"Very well... Father."

Anderson's expression remained serene as he spoke gently. "Go now, I'll gather what I need and join you shortly."

With Anderson's instructions, Moissan hurried off without delay.

Watching her depart, Anderson closed the door and made his way through the living room towards the room on the right.

Ms. Moissan was a resident of a neighboring community. Perhaps due to his status and the fact that he lived alone, she often brought him delicious food when she visited the church for her daily prayers.

He was considered a good-hearted individual who extended kindness to others, even if he didn't always express it. Moreover, it was a form of care he hadn't experienced since arriving in this world, giving him a sense of belonging.

Furthermore, this community was his territory, and he wouldn't tolerate anything or anyone disturbing his peaceful existence.

Demons or evil spirits were akin to contagious diseases. If not dealt with promptly, such supernatural occurrences would only multiply.

Entering the room, Anderson found it furnished normally. He went straight to the center, lifted a thin rope, and revealed a square hole. With a determined stride, he descended into the basement, specially constructed to house various exorcism tools, including firearms, which were not meant for public exposure.

After descending thirteen steps, he arrived at the ground level, where the strong scent of maintenance hung in the air. Navigating through the corridor, he arrived at a spacious area resembling a warehouse.

The vast space housed more than thirty rack stocked with an assortment of items. Amidst the array of firearms and tools, Anderson located the section dedicated to church item used in exorcisms, such as holy water, crosses, and tokens.

After passing the racks filled with firearms and homemade salt bullets, mercury bullets, and lead bullets, Anderson came to the third rack.

This rack holds some church items, such as the so-called holy water, crosses, tokens, willow branches for drawing water, etc., which are the basic tools that are used in exorcism in movies.

Recalling the movies and TV shows he had watched in his previous life, Anderson shook his head with emotion, took the backpack next to him, picked something from each category, and put it in.

If it were just an ordinary priest, these ordinary tools might be enough, but his method of exorcism is a bit special...

Anderson picked up his backpack and continued to walk to the next rack.

Compared with all the rack, the things on this rack are a little different. It is full of bottles, cans, and even syringes. If it weren't for the firearms next to it, people who don't know better would think they are in a hospital.

"A psychedelic drug that can make people instantly fall into some kind of fantasy." Anderson murmured to himself, picked up a bottle of psychedelic drugs with a note and put it into his backpack.

"Plus a powerful sedative." Anderson took another bottle of sedative and put it in.

Not only these two bottles, but also other miscellaneous medicines were put in. These are all his special medicines, which are powerful and safe.

"There's one last thing..." Anderson picked up his backpack and walked towards the first rack.

Although there are all firearms on it, such as Desert Eagles, trolls, sniper rifles, etc., there is also a set of needle guns that are similar to firearms.

With his preparations nearly complete, Anderson proceeded to the first shelf, where a set of needle guns caught his attention. After securing one resembling a pistol model, he donned on his divine robe, reinforcing his defense.

 [Basic Divine Robe]

 [Defense: 6]

 [Durability: 6/10]

Preparations concluded, Anderson set off for the Boston community, where the old woman resided, one community over from his own, the Tem community.

However, the security situation in Tem had deteriorated recently for reasons unknown. Gang activity was rampant, with streets teeming with delinquents and drug addicts.

As Anderson approached a street after passing through the midway point, he encountered a group of youths gathered in a pedestrian tunnel. They fit the profile of troublemakers—school-skippers indulging in cigarettes at a young age.

Though he intended to ignore them and continue on his way, a short-haired youth shouted at him from a distance, brandishing a cigarette with an air of bravado.

"Hey, Father!"

Carrying his backpack, Anderson cast a brief glance in their direction before proceeding, paying little heed to the youth's antics.

"I'm your devoted follower!" the youth continued, undeterred by Anderson's indifference.

"May I ask you something?"
