Chapter 2: New Environment

"What was that?" Kiro had broken the silence.

"I have no intention to interrupt your work Kiro, on that note, I am to escort Lyra to the Queen's Quarters," Ambrose finally said something other than calling my name when I had fallen earlier.

However, I wasn't listening to a word of their conversation after Ambrose had said that. I had strayed toward the window and pushed one of the velvet drapes to the side so I could glance at the view from this room. There was a beautiful lush green garden, filled with flowers of all varieties, a labyrinth made of trimmed hedges, and elegantly carved stone benches.

Focusing on the glass itself, how clean-cut it was, It seemed as if it was just washed, and you could see your reflection in it. There, standing in front of me was an elegant, petite girl. With long black beachy waves for hair, with very light freckles that covered the bright, glowing, white skin. My once blue eyes were now hazel green. Nothing was put out of place, everything looked perfect.

That's when it hit me, I am no longer me. I wanted to go back to my brown-haired tall body, the one where I went to Harvard and had a best friend named Atlas. The one where my name was Miriel and not Lyra. When I had parents I knew and everything was at peace.

"Lyra!!" Focusing back on what was now my reality I could see 2 figures looking at me. Ambrose and Kiro staring at me with worried expressions. "Did you get hurt when you collapsed prior?"

I shook my head and looked back at them, "I apologize, I suppose I had a moment of cogitation that provoked me to lose focus."

Following that Ambrose left the room, and Kiro proceeded to compress me into a dress.

I hated the fact that I was an adult being costumed by a man. I also hated that I had to wear a dress I likewise despised that I needed to wear a gown, I never was an enthusiast of formal attire, always so much work for things of such little importance.

Looking back in the glass I could see a black lined; olive-colored corset, tied in the back. It was surprisingly tight, although not tight enough that I couldn't sit, breathe or eat. After the corset was on Kiro put a green dress on me. It was close-fitting on my torso and loose and long at the bottom. The sleeves puffed out just a bit and it was probably the ugliest garment I'd ever worn.

"Hile, you can come back in now!" I caught Kiro shout once he was finished grooming me. I had walked out, Ambrose as my guide and escort toward where it was we're advancing to.

Kiro's Pov

I could see that Ambrose noticed how odd Lyra was acting. It was evident to me the moment she agreed to help me, after all, it was only a hoax.

Few people were as close to Lyra as Ambrose and me. She was not even close with her attendants, she was never a bad person like everyone thought. Falsehoods spread like wildfire.

Lyra was childish and selfish, stuck in her own little world. She wasted money she didn't have, money she got from people's taxes. Arrogant and young but that was a year ago. She sold every bit of jewelry she bought wrongfully and she is no longer ignorant, however, she is still very immature and overbearing often.

However, after a bit, I got back to work on the dress noticing that I needed more Linen and Silk. Picking up my bag of seri coins I headed to the market area.

(Seri coins are the form of currency in this story, as well as other stories I will be using Seri coins)

Hile's Pov

I was uncertain what wasn't right with Lyra, I am Lyra's nearest acquaintance in the palace however I was too incognizant in regards to what was wrong. It resembled she was waving the appropriate response before my face yet It was a lot too quick to peruse.

She has been out of it since she collapsed earlier, In fact, she was so out of it she hadn't noticed that she was going to run into one of the many supporting marble pillars. When I pushed her lightly so she didn't get hurt she simply murmured a "Thanks" and blanked out again.

There waiting at the turn was none other than the loyal dog Roman Elden. He was waiting I suppose so in the mean I decided to ask him about something assuming Lyra was waiting on me. However, when I had turned back around to look for her, she was gone.
