Chapter 10: Chapter IX

"Are you happy now?!"

After yelling that out loud I cover my mouth with my hand. I didn't mean to, but Athena did. The pain throbs and throbs.

I wish I could just curl up into a ball and hope it'll fade.

Zeus too had changed into his human form again.

"Athena, stop. You're hurting her." He said in his booming voice.

Athena seems to ignore him. Her rage is endless. I could feel her boiling underneath the surface.

Every ounce of anger she had ever felt seemed to come out now.

"Athena, remember what you told me." Zeus said.

I sank to my knees. In this moment I couldn't care less what everyone thought. I layed down on the floor. I felt a tear roll over my cheek.

I heard gasps around me as Raymond sat down beside me and put a hand on my shoulder.

"Hang in there kid." He said in his own voice.

"It'll all be over soon. I know what you're going through. All of us do. The emotions of Gods twist and turn all the time."

I know he was trying to reassure me, but it wasn't really working. Neither did it take away this horrible pain.

"Athena!" Zeus said once again.

"We can't lose you. You're to important is this battle. We don't need to lose our best strategist again."

This time she listened. The pain fainted a bit. At this point it was just plain painful.

Raymond helped me of the floor. The rest just stared in silence.

I didn't get any time to recover though. A loud bang sounded from outside.

"Not again." The girl sharing with Artemis mumbled underneath her breath.

The boy from in the back came out of the shadows, he appeared as some sort of skater boy.

He was wearing a beanie and an oversized t-shirt and pants. He had red checkered vans and a very old look in his eyes. His eyes had the color of honey.

"That's the third time this week." He spoke.

He had a calm and cool voice. But he sounded way older then he seemed. Much wiser too.

Maybe it has something to do with the titan in his head. After all, Athena said he shares a body with Kronos.

At first nothing seemed wrong with him, but when he walked closer I could hear a slight peep each time he breathed in. It sounded very raspy too. As if he had the lungs of an old man.

"Well what are we waiting for let's go and check it out!" Phineas yelled through the room.

Everyone hurried up the stairs. Raymond was about to take my arm and help me but Athena made me push him away.

"I got this." was the only thing she said.

I wanted to say she didn't but I kept my mouth shut. This wasn't the time or place to start fighting again.

Raymond and I followed the others up the spiraling staircase. Once we reached the top Athena made me squirm to the front of the crowd so we could see what was going on.

Right in front of us a building had collapsed. There was smoke everywhere. Heavy and thick.

The man that held Poseidon started giving orders.

"Zoë, Scott and Janae, go see if there are any survivors left."

Artemis, Kronos and Demeter run off to the building. As they run their bodies morph and change until the gods themselves are running.

"Karen you're with me on putting out the remaining fires and clearing a path for the the others. The rest of you is on crowd control. Make sure the civilians are safe and aid those who need it."

He looks at me and his eyes flash for a moment.

"You too smart-ass."

He turns on his heel and runs away with Karen. Athena mumbles something about seaspawn and we run of with the rest of the group.

It seems everyone is handeling this in their godly forms so Athena and I follow their lead.

The icey feeling becomes master of me. Someone grabs my wrist and pulls me along.

I notice it's Hestia.

"What is this about Hestia?"

It's Athena's voice that sounds.

I'm too astounded to react to the things around me. Maybe not a bad thing that Athena is in control.

"Shut up and follow us."

Hestia's voice sounded mixed. As if two people spoke at the same time. I assumed that was exactly what was happening.

Athena's POV:

I was pissed off. Ready to kill even. Hestia pulled me along.

"What is this about Hestia?"

"Shut up and follow us."

Astonishing, they just spoke with one voice. Hestia is really way more than she seems. The boy she shares a body with is like what? 9 years old? And yet everything they do is perfectly synced with one another. I'd be surprised if Skyler and me could achieve that one day.

"Just because you're the one in control, doesn't mean I don't know what you think Athena." Skyler reminds me out loud.

"Details, details." I respond.

Yet she'll know I don't mean to hurt her. There's no such thing as hiding your feelings or true intention from someone in your head.

Hestia pulled me into a darker ally. The place gave even me the creeps.

"I wanna show you something. But don't tell the others I knew."

This time it was just Hestia speaking.

"My how you have changed.."

I can't help but smirk.

"Athena this is serious."

She gives me a look that only she can give. A look that says 'I love and care for you, but I'll slap your face if you don't shut up'.

"Besides war changes people, you of all should know that." she adds.

Out of her right boot she takes a small dagger. It's a ceremonial dagger, one from ancient times. The blade itself is gold and shines dangerously in the light of a broken lamp. The cross guard is made of metal. In the middle is a flame, made of ruby. The grip is made of leather. The leather is even worn out in the shape of her hand.

The Hestia I knew was sweet and would not even touch a weapon. Now she apperently carries one everywhere she goes.

I decide against taking out my spear. It would appear soon enough if I needed it and it wasn't exaclty stealthy.

"Now follow me and be quiet." Hestia said.

I did as she said. We tiptoed through the ally. I saw a small kid rush out of the way, almost tripping over his own feet.

"Was that? Pan?" Skyler whispered.

I raised my shoulders. It was possible. Gods tend to stay close to other gods, with or whithout humans.

Hestia looked around a corner. Since I'm taller than her I could look over her and around the corner.

They felt familiar. Then it hit me.

"It's the other group isn't it? The other gods.."
