Chapter 3: A Fierce Battle

The elephants tusks flung so many troops high into the air. Most of which were beast men holding shields. The goblins were stuck in their fallen vehicles, desperately trying to break free. The dwarves in the back used their cannons and shot towards the giant elephants. The large group of fifteen elephants suddenly shrunk to a small group of five elephants.

The elephant skeletons were comparable in size to the giants, who were the slightest bit taller. The giants finally ran in and started pounding the final elephants. Their giant clubs swung down mercilessly. The elephant skeletons started shattering from the impact. The elephants were beat down into dust by the giants.

Then suddenly, giant humanoid skeletons started coming from the same direction. The United troops who were in a circle formation quickly gathered. The second attack will be more brutal because those are skeletons of behemoths. Massive legendary creatures that are a mix between apes and giants. The first attack devastated the United army. Seeing as how they didn't send more elephant skeletons, it most likely devastated the enemy's army as well.

General POV

We prepared for this next attack, but differently. We got ballista ready to fire right over the heads of our men. Lined up behind the thin shield line were people wielding axes and blunt weapons that can shatter bones. The enemy behemoth skeletons ran towards us. We all braced for impact. The tremors stopped. All was silent. Maybe I was hit? Perhaps I died on impact?

I opened my eyes slowly. The behemoths were raising their hands out. Their arms were outstretched and dark gas was seeping out of their hands. Only up close do you see how large these behemoths are. They are about 30 meters tall. That's ten times as tall as a normal elephant. They made the magical elephant riders and their mounts look small. They had hands large about to crush ten men with one slap.

Of course, we didn't want to fight with these two behemoths. But at the same time, we couldn't let it throw unknown gas at us. Our best form of retaliation was to fire the dwarven cannons. The cannons shot towards the towering behemoths. One behemoth blocked by folding its arms over each other while the other one continued seeping out gas. Both were heavily damaged, and yet they kept spewing out that horrid black gas. Then, the unthinkable happened.

The behemoths started pouring the gas onto each other and seemed to heal. All the bones that were shattered grew back in place, the dust made from their bones also disappeared. It was only then that we realized what the gas was doing. We turned around just in time to see the massive elephant skeletons rise up. It seems that the only thing waiting for us today is death.

The shame from earlier weighed down on me. This time I won't wait for death. I'll charge straight at it.

-In A Giant Gorilla Skull-

"These creatures have formed an odd group. They are well organized and won't run away. It seems I have underestimated these foolish creatures. They only need to bow to the great one if they want to live. Although they are very organized, they are lacking something. Actual power is what they lack. The "army" that they are fighting is but a small group of scouts. I do feel that this is a waste of time though. Would I be so rude as to ask the great general to send in a scout group leader to destroy them?"

"Thank you for your opinion scout leader. I don't think you or any other scout group leaders need to act personally for this small skirmish. After all, the great one does have everything planned out. He probably already predicted that this battle would've happened."

"You're right general. I shall send one of my closer subordinates in my scout group to deal with this group of fools."

-Back On The Battlefield-

Reinforcements should be arriving soon. The messenger bird I received said that a middle ranked kingdom's army is coming here. They really want to kiss up to the Overseers. Well, it should help in dealing with these giant skeletons. The giants managed to push the group of skeleton elephants out of the group, but not without immense losses. We only have an army that can rival a middle tier kingdoms. And yet, we're struggling this much.

The elephants ran back towards where the came from as a behemoth followed. One behemoth stayed behind and pounded on its chest bones furiously. The group slowly backed away while aiming a cannon at the behemoth's head. The behemoth acted just like an ape, pounding its chest and waiting for us to make a move.

Another loud roar rang out, but it wasn't this behemoth's roar. I watched as the other behemoth returned with the giant elephants carrying a large platform. The platform was slowly let down in front of us and placed on the ground. All the skeletal creatures lowered their stance in a bow.

"So, you're struggling with this small group of skeletons?"

I had no choice other than reply.

"Yes sir. It seems fairly obvious that you're in charge. Please call off this attack and we can give you anything you want."

"Attack? I have yet but to bring most of the scouting group here."

A scouting group? What kind of idiot brings massive skeletons to scout? It makes no sense to me.

"Well, if you can hold off these two subordinates of mine, then I will allow you to live and put in a good word with the general."

"With all due respect, we have been holding off this group of behemoths sir. Is that not enough?"

"They are but cannon fodder. I want you to battle something that has actual combat capabilities. So long, little creatures."

With a sinister laugh and a wave of its bony hands, the creature we were speaking to disappeared. The behemoths shrunk to our size and stared at us. The elephants couldn't seem to shrink though. It was fairly obvious that our opponents were the behemoths. Well, it seemed like that at first. As we charged the behemoths they just moved out of the way. Of course we followed suit and attacked. The poor things didn't retaliate.

And then, a sword went through a captain's throat. I turned to look at the traitorous fool who stabbed the captain and saw bones. Oh man, I hate bones. I swung my sword overhead and brought it down on the bony arm I saw. The arm quickly retracted and the sword it was carrying swung at my sword. Our swords clanged and we both stumbled back. I could see my opponent now. Considering that I was a general, my combat prowess is not to be underestimated. The opponent gave off a dangerous vibe. It had a thin layer of mist around it that seemed to move on its own. The surrounding soldiers finally realized what was going on and pointed their weapons towards the being. It held two swords, a zweihander and a shortsword. It's swords were held up in a defensive stance. I realized that this thing should be on of the opponents. But, where is the second one?

A chill went down my spine. I knew something was behind me. I swung around and spun my sword, fully expecting to hear a clang of two swords clashing. But instead, I could feel my longsword impact a solid fleshy object. I looked up to see my sword lodged in a soldiers collarbone. It was a trick!

I yanked my long sword out of the soldier and pointed it straight behind me. I turned towards my opponent once more. It seems that the opponent somehow tricked me into thinking that the second opponent was behind me. But this led to more questions, where was the second opponent and how did the skeleton trick me? The answer to the latter question was quickly made clear when i saw the dark mist around the creature had disappeared.

This was going to be a hard battle.
