21.51% And He Was

Chapter 37: .

It was a dark hooded figure, but Sebastian didn't have time to realize how suspicious that was because of the word he heard next. "FIRE!!!"

Sebastian, thinking quickly, took off the ring, and pushed it into 's hand. "We'll just use this as an excuse," he whispered hurriedly.

Looking back toward the hooded figure, realizing how the cloak was so large, billowing in the wind that had followed through the doors, the hood so imposing it could have held almost anything in it.

"... . Get behind me." Sebastian said warily, standing up and holding out a guarding hand. , also standing up, obediently shuffled behind him. His other hand moved to unsheathe his sword. It was strictly for decoration purposes, a heavily jeweled sword that felt odd in his hand, but the blade was real and Sebastian was certain that it could cause damage.

The assassin chucked mockingly and darted at him, and before he realized what was happening, the assassin had taken out a dagger from their pocket and the two were fighting for their lives.

Sebastian swiped at the assassin's shoulder, and in return, the assassin lunged at Sebastian's leg. Sebastian returned this by leaping away and attempting to attack from the back, a cut deep into the assassin's side.

The cape was misleading, though, and the sword missed by a couple of inches.

However, the prince's suit was tight and bearing, allowing the assassin to easily return the attack with the tagger digging into his stomach. The dagger went clean through - probably a serious blow, if not fatal.

Sebastian fell onto the ground, lightheaded. "RUN, ! RUN!" he screamed, and the light left his vision as he fell unconscious.

The assassin sighed as they watched the princess flee through the open doors, shouting for help before realizing that the castle was aflame. The assassin then looked toward the prince with a smile.

The dagger was slipped into Sebastian's hand, the assassin pulling out another one as he dashed out the doors.

A sharp scream echoed down the hallway as flames began trailing into the room.
