Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Annie's Baby

It's been 9 long months since Annie decided to keep the child. They were months of worry, weariness, anxiety and joy at the same time. Being a mother at 20 was something new for Annie and difficult as she had never mothered a child before and her mother who should have been with her was dead.

Annie had decided to stay on her own because she didn't want to bother Robert even when Robert insisted she stay with him. She had moved to Texas, California had memories, too many painful memories. She decided to work as a sales girl in a bakery. Heavens so kind, her boss was so kind to her.

Annie was still attending to some customers.

"Annie dear c'mon you have to rest my dear." Mrs. Hiller, Annie's boss. She was a woman in her early fifties. She came out to meet Annie.

"It's okay Mrs. Hiller I've got this." She smiled.

"No way, you're heavy and all this stress is too much. Rest a little my dear, then you can go home."

 "But Mrs. Hiller..."

"Don't worry, I'll still give you your full pay." She smiled.

"Thank you so much ma'am. God bless you."

Annie stood up and picked up her hand bag, "See you tommorow ma'am."

 "Sure."

Annie walked happily back home. She held her baby bump and caressed it gently, "See? Momma's working for you baby. When you're born, you'll lack nothing Momma's promising you that. Okay?" She laughed and patted it gently.

The evening breeze was cool and she felt unusually calm today. All of a sudden she felt a hot liquid running down her legs. She was surprised and wondered what it was. The next moment she felt a very sharp pain in her bump.

She groaned and and held her waist, it was as if it was splitting. A cry escaped her lips, "My baby's coming out!"

Passers-by looked in her direction. "She's in labor!" A woman shouted. Some women near by surrounded her.

"My house is near by, let's take her there." Some young men helped her into the house. Annie kept groaning loudly in pain.

"Someone get hot water!" The nurse among them said. The woman who owned the house quickly went to her kitchen to heat some water.

The nurse who was later known as Mrs. Hart told Annie, "C'mon dear, breathe in and out dear."

 Annie heaved.

 "Now push!"

 "Arghhhh!" Annie screamed.

 "Push dear, push!"

Annie tried pushing and another cry escaped her lips.

"You can do it dear, c'mon now dear, push!"

"I don't want to, it hurts!" Annie was crying and groaning at the same time.

Mrs. Hart smiled, "You have to dear, push!"

 Annie pushed again and screamed.

"The baby's head is already coming out! Keep pushing dear, keep pushing."

Annie tried getting up but some of the women pinned her down, the pain was unbearable.

 "The baby's coming out!"

Annie's groans Increased. They kept pacifying Annie who couldn't take it anymore.

Soon the gentle cry of the baby was heard in the room.

 "It's a girl!"

 "Such a beautiful child."

 "So cute."

The women continued complimenting the baby.

Annie was now breathing heavily. She was so weak.

Mrs. Hart gently spoke in her ears, "You now have a daughter." Annie looked at her, tears welled up in her eyes and she smiled faintly.

They helped her sit and put the baby in her arms. Annie was short of words. She slowly bent down and kissed its forehead.

"C'mon let's clean the baby." Mrs. Hart smiled at Annie and took the child from her to clean it up.

Annie smiled and asked the owner of the house, Mrs. Jerry to call her brother. She lay down and fell asleep.

 ******

Robert had managed to take her home. Annie sat on the bed cuddling her daughter, "Who's the cutest? You are! Yes you are!" She kissed her forehead.

Her baby smiled at her, cute little dimples appeared at the side of the baby's cheeks. God she was adorable!

Robert came in and watched mother and daughter for a while. He sat on the bed.

 "What's her name?"

Annie looked at him and back at her baby.

"I'll call her Christine." She smiled at Christine.

Robert smiled, "I'm proud of you sis."

"I can't believe that devil told me to abort this Angel. My Angel." She cuddled Christine closer, cooing her to sleep.

"Annie will you be fine on your own? I mean you don't know anything about being a mother neither do I know anything about parenting." Robert asked.

"Don't worry Robert, I'll be fine." She dropped Christine gently on the bed.

Robert sighed, "I'll stay here tonight."

"Oh thanks Robby. You're so sweet. Christine is so lucky to have you as her uncle."

Robert blushed a little and laughed.

She got down from the bed. She walked towards the bathroom and went it. When she had closed the door, she sat on the floor and sobbed quietly.

"I'm sorry mom, this is not what you wanted for me. He deceived me and took advantage of my innocence." She continued sobbing, "I'm so sorry mom."

"I'll never forgive you Christian Powers, you'll live to regret your actions. Mark my words!" She closed her eyes and rested her head against the door.

 *****

"Sir she gave birth to a baby girl." Kim Christian's P.A informed him.

"She birthed the baby?" Christian asked surprised.

"Yes sir. I was informed that was two days ago.

"Holy sh*t!" He held his head, "Kim how is she? Is she fine?"

"She's is in good health sir."

Christian sighed, "How's she gonna take care of that baby? I told her to get rid of it but no she wouldn't listen to me." He closed his eyes and rested back on his chair, "I don't even know where she is." He mumbled and sighed.

 "She moved to Texas sir."

"Texas? What the hell is she doing there?"

 "I have no idea sir."

He was lost in his thoughts. Annie wouldn't want to see him now but he wanted to see her.

"Do you have an idea of where she lives?"

 "No sir."

"Arghh! Darn it!" He cursed frustrated.

 Kim only stared at him.

 "You can leave Kim."

 " Okay sir."

Christian pursed his thin lips and he banged his table angry, confused and frustrated.

"Where am I gonna find you Annie? Oh sh*t! Why am I so worked up?" He breathed in but he still wasn't at rest.

"Christian get her out of your mind. She was the one who decided to birth the child, I told her not to. So stop thinking about her.

He stood up and went towards the window, he looked at the beautiful view and sighed. If Annie was here she'd rave about how beautiful the sight was. He smiled remembering her but it disappeared as soon as it came. She was nothing to him just a sex toy and nothing else.

" Stop thinking about her. Gosh why can't I stop thinking about her and why am I so restless?"
