Chapter 14: Chapter 12

Everyone was given two days off after the sports festival which quickly sped by and Izuku was back in school.

The ride on the subway was quite interesting. Everyone recognised him immediately and congratulated him for winning the Sports Festival. Some kids even asked for autographs. It was interesting for him, being the center of attention.

He guessed the same happened with many of his classmates as they were talking among each other about being recognized by people over the two days.

Finally, the bell rang and Aizawa entered the class.

"Today you have Hero Informatics Class. A special one at that. Today you'll be coming up with your hero aliases."

As everyone quietened down after a brief moment of excitement, Aizawa continued, "But first, concerning the pro draft picks I mentioned the other day. It's based on who the pros think is ready to join the hero workforce after another two or three years of experience. So you could say it's a way for them to show interest in your futures."

The draft pick results were dominated my three students. Given Izuku's performance in the festival, it was no surprise that he got chosen by more than seven thousand heroes.

Right when Aizawa was about to finish explaining about the drafts, a woman entered our classroom who's appearance made many of the male students excited.

They were given placards to write their aliases on. As his classmates began announcing the names they had chosen, Izuku focused on choosing his own alias. It was clear to him that his quirk was not simply fire. It was much more than that.

Recently, he had been able to heat objects as well as absorb heat from them. Even more, he could freeze water by absorbing the heat from it. The more he understood the science behind heat and energy, the more his quirk developed.

Everything above absolute zero had heat. If he trained his quirk enough, he could freeze a human within a matter of seconds without any contact. He could freeze the oceans and the very air around him.. He could destroy life on earth.

It was dependent on his understanding of the universe. The versatility of his quirk was baffling.

When Izuku came to that conclusion, he saw endless possibilities of using his quirk and realised just how over powered his quirk could become.

"Midoriya, let's see what alias you have chosen."

Izuku nodded and walked to the front. He knew that he couldn't let anyone learn about the extent of his abilities. Thus, he knew exactly what his hero name would be.

"The Blazing Hero: Supernova."

While at lunch, everyone was discussing about with which hero they would choose to intern. When Yaoyorozu was asked about her choice, she wasn't sure who to choose but Izuku sensed her inclination towards Uwabumi and said, "You do not have confidence in yourself."

Everyone snapped towards him as he continued saying, "I have observed your confidence curve declining with the number of days you have been coming to this school. This implies that you feel overwhelmed and day by day you feel that you are inferior to your classmates. You were recommended for the hero course. By putting yourself down because of your insecurities, are you not proving the people wrong who recommended you?"

Bakugo slammed his head on the table in front of him and groaned.

"You don't say that kind of stuff on people's faces, damned freak!!"

Izuku inclined his head and asked, "By telling people what is wrong with them, I am lifting them up from their mediocre selves and helping them in becoming better individuals. How is that wrong?"

"Gah!! Drop dead, you fucking idiot!"

Having her problem pinted out right into her face helped her in making up her mind. Although incredibly rude, Izuku's method did help her and she was thankful... Although, she didn't voice it out to him.

Meanwhile, Izuku stared at Iida who was eating quietly with a storm of emotions brewing inside. He knew who the bespectacled boy was going to choose. No matter what anyone would say, Iida was determined to go after the hero killer by himself to avenge his brother.

While Izuku acknowledged the sentiment, he couldn't understand the foolishness of the boy who was usually a stickler of the rules. How was he planning to defeat a man who had killed heroes who were stronger and more experienced?

Fortunately, the hero Izuku was planning to intern with had his agency in Hosu as well. Ignoring the bespectacled idiot hell bent on throwing his life away, he turned to Uraraka who was gleefully chewing her food.

"Uraraka."

Despite his bland monotonous voice Uraraka perked up and blushed a little before looking at him as he continued, "Which hero will you intern under? I suggest you choose someone who could help you with offense. Hot headed brutes like Bakugo-"

"Oi!!"

"-are not easy to face. There are villains who do not care if they inflict grievous injuries or even kill heroes. It is imperative that you learn how to fight back."

Uraraka was a little taken aback by his sudden seriousness, but, she helplessly chuckled and nodded as she once again understood that nothing about him was ordinary.

Satisfied with her response, Izuku excused himself.

Later that night, Inko expressed her concern over the hero Izuku chose. But he just waved them off saying that he would prevent a lot of property damage that would have been otherwise caused.

Finally, the day arrived for them to leave for their internships.

Everyone boarded their trains. As Izuku, Iida and Todoroki reached Hosu, Izuku walked towards Iida and offered his hand to shake ehile saying, "Best of luck for your internship. I will pray for your brother's speedy recovery."

Iida shook his hand and gave a half hearted smile and walked away.

Todoroki stared at Izuku for a moment and asked, "Which hero agency are you going to?"

Izuku replied, "Your father's."

Before Todoroki could recover from the shock, a car stopped right in front of them and Endeavor stepped out.

"Get in the car, both of you."

As Endeavor sat back inside the car, Todoroki asked Izuku, "Hey, Midoriya.. Why did you choose 'him'?"

Izuku simply inclined his head and said, "If I can work under the crappiest hero then I can work with anyone. Also, I find his neanderthilian and brutish personality humorous. It is very rare to see a grown up man throw tantrums about not being the strongest. I am hoping that his boorish behavior will make me laugh uproariously. I was getting bored."

And so began Izuku's humorous summer internship as Todoroki tried to make sense of his classmate who gave the word quirky a new meaning.
