I heard a knock on the door before Madison's face smiled at me. I had just put on my shoes when she arrived.
I smiled at her, and she entered.
"Are you ready?" She asked.
I stood up from the edge of the bed and smoothened the visible creases on my dress.
"Yes, I am."
Her glimmering eyes recked me over once, and she smiled widely.
"Look how stunning you look, Elena! May no evil follow you ever!" She prayed.
"Thank you, Mom! You look better than me though. I am sure no one is going to talk about Sanders' daughter-in-law but Mrs Madison Sanders!" I winked at her, and she laughed, throwing her head back.
"Oh, please! Don't butter me up. You are going to be the one in the limelight today because it's your and Devon's first wedding anniversary.
I can't believe a year has passed, and that too with so much..." She trailed off, her smile faltering momentarily.
