Chapter 2: The Night of Determination
"Eh…. Why can I be accepted, sir? "
"Look at your measurement results. This is the best result I've seen in my time in charge of handling new student admissions. At least a similar result appeared 20 years ago. " The instructor gives Kai the measurement results.

Kai was surprised to see the results of his ability measurement. He did feel that he was very easy to understand things, but he had never thought that his intelligence was that high.
Actually, Kai's intelligence has been seen since Kai was a baby. He already said his first words at the age of 7 months. he was able to speak at the age of 1 year. Kai even learned to read himself, he took advantage of the time when he was being read a bedtime story while seeing a book read at the age of 4
'I often hear that I'm really smart, but I never thought my INT would be this high'
"Excuse me Instructor, do I have to enter the academy with this result?"
"What do you mean to ask like that kid? Of course you have to enter! We even forced you to enter! HAHAHAHAHA "
Kai had thought about giving up his intention to enter the academy after seeing the results. From the start, he only intended to register to try his luck, then accept his failures and enjoy a comfortable life at the orphanage as his caretaker staff. He would feel bad if he immediately applied to become a staff, so he planned to do so after he accepted his failure to enter the academy.
'It's not what I planned.'
The instructor grabbed Kai's hand and led him to a room. Then he handed a scroll to Kai.
"This is an acceptance letter. Evidence to show that you've been accepted into Sunray Academy."
Then the instructor gave a book to Kai.
"This is a guidebook for students who have just been admitted to the Academy, all the information about the academy, the opening and the basic general knowledge needed to become an academy student is written there, I hope you can understand everything in time."
Kai, feeling regretful about his failed plan and turning into a disaster that could destroy his comfortable life, reluctantly accepted the book and nodded at the instructor.
"Tha-thank you sir"
"Whats your name, kid?"
"I am Kai, sir."
"Okay Kai, now straighten your body, lift your chin, puff out your chest, and show off to your neighbors that you've been accepted into this academy. HAHAHAHAHAHA"

Kai Leaving the place where the measurements were taken and went straight to the orphanage with a receipt and a guidebook. Unlike most people who would put on a smiley face because they were accepted into the best academy in the continent. Kai put on a gloomy face while regretting the decision he had made.
'If this was the case, I wouldn't have followed the measurement. My comfortable everyday life might be lost.'
Arriving in the courtyard of the house, he saw sister Amelyn standing near the entrance to the orphanage.
Instantly, a feeling arose in Kai not to make the sister who had been taking care of him since childhood to feel disappointed by seeing his gloomy look. Kai also tried to wear the happy look like the inspector had mentioned.
Straighten up, raise his chin and puff out his chest. Kai walked upright with a face full of smiles.
"What's with your attitude Kai, I've been with you since you wet your bed, of course I know all about you. But, this is the first time I've seen you like this. Did failing the test drive you crazy Kai?"
Sister Amelyn is the one who runs this orphanage now. Her age is actually not that different from Kai. But she's been in this orphanage since Kai was found at the door of the orphanage.
Sister Amelyn has always been at the orphanage, and chose to stay here and take care of it because of her love for this place.
"What do you mean I'm crazy sister? I'm always fine. I admit that my pose just now isn't something I would normally do. I only followed the instructor's direction from Sunray academy since I had been accepted. He says I have to boast about this in such a way."
Kai grinned and waved the proof of acceptance he got from the instructor.
Sister was surprised to hear Kai's explanation, then she took the sheet in Kai's hand and looked at it.
Tears began to pour out of the corners of the sisters eyes. Tears of joy seeing one of his family members finally get a big achievement. The bonds between the orphans and the sisters in this orphanage are like they are family by blood ties.
This Happy News then spread to all residents of the orphanage, they also celebrated this touching moment that night.

Kai sat under a tree in front of the orphanage. His favorite place to think and enjoy a time of peace.
'What happened is irrevocable.'
Kai realized this and began to accept the current reality. He began planning what he would do next, with the sole purpose of having a comfortable life.
Kai opened the manual given by the instructor from the academy and started reading the contents.
The contents of the book are divided into several discussion sections. The first part contains guidelines for the opening ceremony which will be held 14 days from now. It is stated in the book, students are not required to bring any items because all accommodation at the time of study will be accommodated by the academy and there are times when students will get money from the results of their respective work that will be carried out when they become students. Kai feels grateful he doesn't have to bring anything, because he currently doesn't have any money.
The next section in the book describes the contents of the academy such as the academy plan and the learning system that will be carried out. Sunray Academy has a curriculum that already specifies students about the pathway they will choose. For example, someone who wants to become a magician will follow a curriculum specifically for magicians, as well as for archers and warriors. The three curricula are structured based on general groupings. Magician for students who will learn about magic. Archers for students who would learn about long-range physical attacks, and warriors for students who would learn about melee and intermediate combat. Students will initially be recommended by the instructor to follow a curriculum based on the measurement results, but students can propose to take another curriculum if they wish.
Kai had never thought of becoming an adventurer, so he had no desire to enter a curriculum. However, Kai realized, with that high INT, he would be included in the magic curriculum.
'I heard magicians fighting from the back. The position is very suitable for me who is looking for comfort'
In the book there is an explanation of the rules that apply at the academy. The point of the rule that Kai pays attention to is "every student has the same position". Kai knew that there would be many children from nobles attending the school, so that with this rule he could feel calm from the thought that he would be made a lackey by nobles. The next rule regarding the prohibition of fighting between students without the consent of both parties being and having to be supervised by an instructor made Kai feel calmer.
The last part of the book describes the basic knowledge that must be known when entering the academy. Because Kai has often read books at the orphanage and in the library, most of the information has been understood by Kai. However, there is information that catches his eye.

That is the title stated in that section. In it consists of information about the grouping of basic abilities and the division of levels on these basic abilities. Kai already knows about the grouping of basic abilities and the division of their levels, but this title is something that is only now on Kai's mind.
Each level has a limit to the maximum number of basic abilities that can be obtained per, for example for Level E, each basic ability group can only reach 100 and will not increase again before they can increase their level. Likewise for other levels, each has a maximum limit. So even if one of the basic ability groups is already 100, it will never go up again before that person can level up. This is what happened to Kai, he has the right number on his INT, which is 100, that's because he hasn't raised his level so that his INT can't increase further.
Level increase can occur when someone has crossed the threshold at each level. Each level has a different threshold, the book only explains the increase from Level E to Level D and from Level D to Level C. One can never raise a Level if one cannot pass the threshold for the number of basic abilities at that level. To increase the Level from E to D requires a basic ability above 320.
'If I'm not mistaken the sum of my basic abilities is 296'
Kai realized that he would soon be able to meet the criteria for leveling up. He only needed to increase his basic ability by 24 points to meet these criteria.

After reading the entire contents of this book, Kai saw someone coming over to him. She is the sister Amelyn along with a girl who looks not far from Kai's age.
"What are you doing Kai?"
"I'm reading the academy manual, Jane."
The girl is named Jane. He has long straight black hair, and round red eyes. Jane's face is very beautiful, able to match the beauty of Amelyn's sister. Many men like Jane, but not Kai. Kai thinks Jane is like his own sister.
"Are you really going to that academy?"
"Don't say that Jane, sister know you will be lonely without Kai who you can always bother with."
"It's not like that sister. I mean, how could someone like him be able to compete there. I'm just worried that he will be bullied there. "
Kai laughed at Jane's words. Even though Jane has a very beautiful face, she is like a man. In the midst of Kai's peaceful life, Jane is the one who always annoys Kai. But Kai realized, maybe he will miss that moment.
"Don't worry, Jane. If someone is going to bully me, I will report it to you. I have specially ordered someone who can bully me for only Jane, so you have to protect that from people who want to bully me too. HA HA HA HA"
Jane gave Kai a disgusting look.
"I'm afraid he's crazy because I bully him too often," Jane commented, leaving Kai
Sister Amelynn smiled at their closeness.
"Kai, if there's anything you need, tell me, I will try to prepare for it."
"Ok, thanks sister."
They returned to the orphanage and fell asleep.

Before falling asleep, Kai thought about his decision to enter the academy again.
Then came the happy faces of the residents of the orphanage at the party earlier. They all look happy, sincere from their hearts. They said that they were happy that one of their family members was able to enter the best academy on the continent.
Even though Kai has no ambition, he won't want to disappoint his family by following his selfishness.
Finally, Kai made a decision.
'Just go in first, we'll see what it will look like in the future.'
