Chapter 6: Reactions

Kratos woke up with a start, his heart pounding as he sat up, his senses alert, his muscles drawn, like a drawn bow, ready for anything. But, he realized he was back at his house, laying on his bed.

"Brother, you're awake!" Mimir exclaimed in joy. Kratos looked at the head with a slight frown.

"What happened?" Kratos asked him as he got off his bed.

"Your fight with Thor...You lost. Me, Sindri and Brok found you hours later after the fight was done, nearly freezing to death," Atreus said from the door. Kratos groaned before touching his head.

"How was it?" Mimir asked Kratos, very much curious. Even Atreus peaked his ears.

"He was...disciplined. He knew when to act, when to stop, matching my pace perfectly, tiring me up, goading me into giving him the kind of fight he wanted. I almost..." He looked at Atreus with sadness. "I almost lost myself fighting him. I have never fought a foe like him before."

"What about his strength?" Mimir asked.

"I was weak, that much has never been so clear to me like today. He dictated how the entire fight would go. I was playing on his palm and it was too late when I realized it," he said before turning to Mimir. "He almost bludgeoned me to death, only bringing me to life for a sardonic reason. If we were to fight to the death...I am just glad it ended the way it did."

"His weapon, the new Mjolnir. What exactly was it?" Sindri suddenly asked, appearing with Brok.

"Powerful, like a rolling storm, ready to be unleashed in a moment's notice," Kratos said before suddenly remembering that the Leviathan axe had been damaged. Summoning the axe, he looked at it and saw the cracks made by Thor's blow onto it while it showed the grip mark of when Thor got hold of it while he tried to hit his stomach. The others were also startled by the appearance of the axe.

"This isn't good, not good at all!" Sindri cried out in pain, looking at the axe he and his brother had forged to be on par with their creation, the Mjolnir.

"I agree," Mimir said while in deep thought. "To think that the fat bastard was actually this dangerous...He fooled us all, Odin included. All due to the death of his sons..." He turned to Atreus who looked grave. "Don't take that to heart lad. It was either you or them." Atreus looked at his father who shook his head at him, but he did not need his advice.

"I killed Modi because..."

"Atreus, enough!" Kratos growled at his son, shutting him up.

"Whatever the reason, it doesn't matter. If that Thor is coming after you then you need the Leviathan at its best of shape. Infact, I think it's due time we improved her. We might not guarantee it will be in the lev of Thor's new Mjolnir, but it will handle your weight well enough," Brok assured Kratos as he took the axe. "Meet me at home when you're done." With that, he disappeared.

"Back at home?" Atreus asked in confusion.

"Well, since your home has been destroyed, Brok and I agreed that we could accommodate you in our home," Sindri answered sheepishly.
