Chapter 1: lord no more

I am a certified sucker for GOT ..so here is another one...

*****************

I couldn't believe what was happening. One moment, I was minding my own business, and the next, I found myself face-to-face with a godlike being. And apparently, I was about to get transmigrated.

"Bad people get transmigrated too, you know," the godlike guy stated casually, not even bothering to glance in my direction. I had just spun a magical wheel, and my eyes were fixed on the name it had settled on. "Dracula?"

No. It couldn't be. I mean, this guy was supposed to be some kind of god. Shouldn't he be preventing evil, not facilitating it? I shot him a disapproving look, "Please take me back... I can't be dead... I was freaking healthy when I slept," I pleaded with the godguy while my pocketed hand pinched the hell out of my thighs. This had to be a nightmare, just a bad dream, just a bad dream. The dude merely regarded me as if I were a worthless mouse trying to lecture him.

"Ugh, will you shut up? I am actually doing you a favor. Your other option is this," he said, pointing to a corner behind him. Just as my eyes landed on the spot, a panel on the wall slid open. It was the size of a medium window. Suddenly, wails and moans reached me, and the moment they reached my ear, it felt like a whip made from barbed wire had lashed on my naked flesh. The pain was intense as if I were the one subjected to the original pain. It only lasted for a few seconds, but I could not take it anymore. I was writhing on the floor made of air with my hands on both my ears.

"Eternal damnation. The choice is yours... the wheel or there," he said, pointing to the panel which closed suddenly, cutting off the echoes of desperate cries.

My choice became immediately clear. I wasn't going to that place, not if I had any say on the matter. Still, I had to bargain for at least a better character.

"Can I at least get another spin? That guy is the most evil person I know. I can't be him," I said pleadingly.

This time I could see some sympathy in the guy's eyes. I began to think he would actually grant my request. But when he spoke, all my hopes turned to smoke. "No one is evil, boy. Evil is just a weed that thrives later, probably fueled by greed and lustful desire," he said dismissively.

"Exactly," I declared defiantly, pointing to the name "Dracula" on the wheel. "That creature is the most corrupt being alive."

The godlike being smiled, his long silver beard giving him an air of an ancient Chinese monk. "Cannot is a strong word for something you are bound to do. Every soul gets one spin on each wheel. Now, don't keep others waiting. Spin the second wheel, and let us see where I shall send you."

I turned to face the arena, only to be shocked by the sudden appearance of thousands of disoriented-looking people. "God, did all these people die within such a short time?" I asked, but the deity didn't bother to answer.

"Go on, spin the wheel," he urged a sharp edge in his voice warning me that my time for questions was over. I turned my attention to the second wheel, much like the first but filled with names of places and fictional worlds from my previous life. Taking a deep breath, I mentally prepared myself and spun the magical wheel.

I watched in trepidation as the magical wheel began to spin, slow at first, and then it gradually picked up the pace. The names of almost all the fictional worlds I had known in my previous life flashed before me. From Star Wars to Harry Potter and dozens of other anime worlds I hadn't even watched, the wheel offered a dizzying array of possibilities. Finally, it began to gradually slow down, and I almost suffered a panic attack due to the tension that was gripping me.

"No, no, no! Please don't let it be The Walking Dead... noooo, not Salem either... it can't be Final Destination; that is just a ticket to another death... and not..." I trailed off, my heart pounding as the wheel came to a stop. I stared at the name that the arrow was pointing to, disbelief washing over me. It couldn't be true.

Westeros.

I had not even thought about such a possibility, but now that it had happened, I realized it could have been a lot worse. Though it was a medieval world, devoid of almost anything I was used to in the modern world, it was certainly better than dozens of other worlds I had anticipated.

"Westeros it is," the deity said with a voice devoid of any emotions. Then, with a casual wave, I was dismissed. Dismissed was a mild way to describe it because I found myself violently falling through an endless abyss where all the events in history were seemingly passing me at light speed. On and on I fell, trying to grab at the air to no avail.

Until...

I landed.

The transition was abrupt, and my senses struggled to adjust. The biting cold hit me first, followed by the realization that I was no longer in the surreal arena but standing on solid ground.

I did not even have a second to recollect myself and study my surroundings; my ailing head would not let me. I suddenly clasped my hair as if pulling it out, mysterious thoughts flashing through my head, and my eyes seemed to witness every event that had passed close to a thousand and more years ago.

That was not my only problem either; my body was also twisting, and my bones were contorting as if they had a will of their own. This kept going on for almost five minutes until suddenly it all stopped. Well, not all... not exactly because right then, another sharp pain cut through my skin. It was like my entire body was in flames, and I stared at my hand.

"What the actual hell!" I screamed in pain. That was when a thought seemingly rose from the depth of my jumbled mind. One word: the sun. The sun was responsible for this. I barely glanced around, but I had already spotted several shades. But just a shade wouldn't do. God, the name on the first wheel I had spun resurfaced in my head.

Dracula... Dracula was a vampire, and now I was... I was him. I was Dracula. All his memories and his long life and experiences had been mingled with mine, and now whatever he had been, I now was. This meant I was a full-blooded vampire, and now the sun that had previously been a luxury to me was now my biggest foe.

I was still burning, and it was getting worse. At this rate, if I did not get proper protection, I would end up as a zombie. My now sharply enhanced senses identified a place almost two kilometers from where I was. "The fuck?" How would I get there fast enough? But I had to. So, I began to run, and hell, the next moment, things seemed to pass in a blur, and I found myself in the darkness of a strange tumbledown log hut.

"What the fuck... What in hell had just happened?"

Immediately after entering the hut, the burning sensation subsided, but the pain from my injuries assailed me. However, a short while later, I watched in awe as those burns gradually disappeared until the pale white skin on my body was left smooth and flawless. Wait, what? My skin had never been pale. I mean, I had fancied my light brown skin tone as it had always been easy to tan. Now, with this curse of a skin, tanning would be another leisure out of my to-do list. But then again, tanning was not done under the stars or the moon, and seeing that the sun was now my tormentor, I might as well get used to it.

With my injuries healed and my mind slightly calm, I began to contemplate the consequences and the nature of what I had become and where I was. I was now a vampire lord in a medieval world. Well, to hell with the lord, Dracula... I mean, I... well, this shit was beginning to mess with my logic. Anyway, I guess I was him. Well, as I was saying, I might have been a vampire lord in the past, or rather the future, since Westeros was way primitive. But here, there were no vampires to 'lord' over. It was just me.

The normal me somehow felt relief over those thoughts, but my newfound side felt as if my entire dreams that had taken me centuries to build had been torn away. Destroyed in a second. It was an insult to my personality, to my ego. How could I, the most powerful vampire in history, have no territory? Where would I get my willing and consistent source of playthings? And where the hell would I get the regular supply of... human blood?

The word hit my head like a freaking missile. Blood. This had now become my food. "Oh, I curse that god for this," I muttered. I flinched as I tried to imagine myself with fangs out, sucking the life out of some young, pretty lady, at the same time feeding her thoughts with whatever it was that I wanted her to believe. Probably that she was willing and enjoying it, that she would give anything for such an experience.

Then, probably, if she pleased me, I would take things from there... into a bed, most likely, where she would serve me in every way I liked. Wicked, but I couldn't resist the thrill it gave me. I was shocked to suddenly realize that Dracula's thoughts and will had completely taken over me. Even the single human logic that had previously withstood the transformation was now fully subdued. Dracula was now what I was, and evil... oh, baby, was just but a beautiful word.
