Chapter 2: 12 Years Later
12 Years Later
At present Alex was walking from school going to the Orphanage. Right now he was accompanied by three other kids. Due to his intelligence, he had skipped a few grades so he was walking with kids older than him. But because of his 'Situation', he had assumed the big brother role in the orphanage even though some of them were older than him they still looked up to him. During those past 10 years, he had to deal with a few things Like why reincarnate in Gotham, the city infamous for its crime, and corrupt cops. Then the orphan part apparently his mom had died on the orphanage steps with him in her arms. For the moment he didn't investigate his past as he didn't really give a damn.
In those 10 years, he had become familiar with the orphan life of Gotham. To be truthful the orphanage was currently performing above average in terms of finance. But everything else was going badly. At the present due to some unfortunate event that had happened during those past years, Mary (the name of the women in charge, also the women who found Alex at the beginning) had to take care of the kid by herself. Sadly the orphanage received minimal support from the government while she had to bribe the gangs for many reasons, the main one was for them to not touch the kids.
Suddenly out of nowhere, a kid came running into him and his group.
"Alex, Alex, Anna, they are harassing her again."
"Not again where are they at?"
After receiving the location Alex took off running.

Later that day
At night in the office in the orphanage.
Alex was sitting on the desk of the head lady. As he been sitting here for a while and he was getting bored. So he had taken some fruit out of his inventory to enjoy. After a few more minutes, the door was quietly pushed open, as shadow sneakily made his way into the room.
"I know you are here."
"And I wasn't trying to hide," Alex answered as he turned the light on.
"What do you want?" Mary asked.
"You were late. I can see why by your injuries." Opening the drawer of the desk he took out the medkit, pointing at one of the chairs she offered her a seat.
"I don't think that is the only thing."
"Oh yeah." He said as he adjusted her arm back into places. "Anna was being harassed today."
"Goddamn," she said as she smashed her fist on the table next to her.
"Yeah, not only that they are getting more aggressive, they try to recruit any kid they could get there hand on to, and apparently the orphanage is not off-limit anymore."
"…"
"You are getting mad already, it seems that they are not scared of you anymore, you are losing your skill with old age."
"Who are you calling old! I am still in my 30s."
"Yeah 39."
"…"
"…"
"What now, I never saw you so quiet." She said as she picks up a drink and pours some for herself
"You know as well as I do, that things are getting worse," he said pointing out her injuries, at least this time you didn't get shot.
True with all those weirdos appearing, life has been getting difficult."
"That year zero for you."
"The year thing again. you know the more years I spent with you, the weirder I think you are. She proceeded to drink a full glass and pour herself another one." At the age of four, you searched my room and found all my documents then you confronted me telling me that your curiosity originated from the weird financial state of the orphanage."
"It wasn't too hard to find them. Who would have thought the cold and beautiful headmistress is a Mercenary. You know, now that some of us grow up, they start wondering where you went when you leave for so many days...and sadly they start thinking of bad things."
"Like"
"Like a striper."
"Sigh*"
"To this day, you never told me why you're doing all of this. How did a person with such skills ended up here, taking care of an orphanage, sadly now by yourself with Ms. Charlotte's death."
"...At least I got you now, a mysterious kid too smart for his age."
"But seriously things are going to get worse, like the end of the world worst. It's better if you don't live."
"Yeah, yeah and I have a few words to say to some gang leaders."
"I think I might have to accompany you this time."
"I can take care of myself, just stay with the kids."
