Chapter 27: Going To The Town

Affiliation was choosing a place to shelter. But not everyone could just join a certain group just because they wanted it. After all, each Affiliation had certain conditions in order for someone to join them.

For example, the Mage Union of the Alliance only accepted Mages. And someone needed to reach a certain level of talent as well as a specific achievement if they wanted to get affiliated with the Mage Union.

They would later be admitted to one of the Mage Guilds to continue their career there. Still, there would be a lot of trials to overcome if they wanted a better position or a better Mage Guild.

It wasn't really that easy.

That aside, being part of the Mage Union was a huge privilege. Not everyone could just touch you. Even the Royals and Nobles would need to think twice if they wanted to cause you harm.

Of course, the Associations and the Alliance weren't the only available Affiliations out there. There were also the Kingdoms, the Top Families, and other independent organizations that also built up their own foothold.

However, most of those organizations couldn't be compared to the Alliance or the Associations.

The Kingdom only accepted Royals and Nobles including their people and slaves. If one wanted to join them, their only position was either slave or their dog.

While, on the other hand, the Top Families only accepted their own. Marriage was the only way for outsiders to join, which was highly unlikely for them as well.

So, in terms of influence, power, and availability, the Alliance and Associations were the only well-known strongest forces that accepted outsiders like them.

That being said, Jax really thought that their Master was only talking about the Alliance. If that were the case, then he would be affiliated with the Mage Union, right?

Since he was a Mage.

With his family-inherent ability, All Elements, joining the Mage Union should be a piece of cake.

''Alright! You brats stand up and we'll depart right away. I will send you to their headquarters one by one and it's all up to you what you should do next.'' Heretic Saint informed.

''What? I thought you were going to register for us?'' Ben immediately complained. If they were going to get affiliated, then wouldn't they get separated too? It wasn't a secret to him that the headquarters of the factions of the Association were located far away from each other.

And that was what he feared. He never had social skills to begin with, so going there alone and registering by himself was something he would never be confident of doing.

At least, he should have Mecaella to go with him!

''What's wrong with that? Are you telling me that you, my disciple, can't even do something so simple?'' Heretic Saint replied with a cold tone as he narrowed his eyes in displeasure.

''Gulp,'' Ben could only swallow a mouthful of saliva. His face began to sweat and his hands and feet became cold.

''Don't worry too much, I'll personally greet the Chief of each faction so they will pay more attention to all of you.'' Heretic Saint comforted, a slight smile formed on his lips.

''Chief?'' Ben repeated. The others also had the same question floating in their mind. Why did they feel that something was amiss?

''In any case, we'll go to the town first to get you a Job. I at least assure you that your friends here will help you register since their headquarters are all over the towns.'' Heretic Saint said. He turned around and started walking outside the tree cave. ''Let's go, Horsey.''

The Tikbalang gave the band one last glance as he said to them, ''Good luck, everyone.''

He then retracted his gaze and followed behind Heretic Saint. However, his tone of voice was rather sad. As if there was a hint of pity mixed in it.

''?'' Jax and the entire band had a question mark floating over their head. Was there really something amiss?

But now that they thought about it, was that the first time the God Tree talked to them after they learned his true identity as the mythical beast?

And now that they thought about it too, they hadn't properly thanked him, right?

Jax and the entire band traded a glance with each other. Having read each other's minds, they immediately stood up straight and formed a line behind the Tikbalang that was now leaving slowly.

Then they bowed their heads deeply.

''Thank you, God Tree, for taking care of us all this while!'' Jax and the entire band suddenly thanked the mythical beast deeply. Even when they learned that he was actually the mythical beast, Tikbalang, they still addressed him as the God Tree.

And he would always be the God Tree they knew in their hearts.

Tikbalang suddenly halted his steps when he heard those kids saying such nonsense. His body trembled, the corners of his eyes started pouring water. He didn't dare to turn his head around and look behind, afraid that his children might notice something unsightly.

So instead of talking with them, he tried his best to ignore them as he walked forward again without saying a word in response.

Meanwhile, Heretic Saint smiled, but he didn't say a word as if he didn't notice anything.

''He just ignored us...'' Jax smiled bitterly as he finally raised his head.

The others had already raised their heads too as they had the same thought as him. But what else could they do? He was a mythical beast, perhaps talking with them was something he wasn't supposed to do in the first place.

Although the others thought something like that, Mecaella had something different in mind. She sighed and shook her head slowly before she started heading out of the tree cave.

''Alright, let's go everyone,'' Jax beckoned as he responded fast and followed behind Mecaella. The others also tagged along and they later went out of the tree cave.

''I forgot to tell you everyone about this, but now that I'm sending you off, never show off your Forbidden Abilities and Skills just like you did earlier,'' Heretic Saint warned as he made sure to squint his eyes and pointed them directly at Jajah and Ben. ''Before you get enough strength and understanding about your newfound powers, try to only use your family-inherent unique ability in front of other people.''

''Just to remind you, I will not step up for you if you brats create any trouble.''

''Yes, Master! We will keep that in mind!'' the band responded, especially Ben and Jajah. The two of them had the loudest voice that responded to Heretic Saint.

''Alright, since everything is clear, let's go everyone!'' Heretic Saint spoke cheerfully as he pointed his forefinger in a certain direction. After that, he started walking forward and led the group.

''We're going to walk on foot?'' Ben suddenly asked.

Then Jajah added, ''I thought you were a transcendent being? Can't you just carry us with your mana and fly real fast?''

''Don't be stupid, who told you that transcendent being can do that?'' Heretic Saint replied as he shook his head slowly.

''Since that's the case, let's race! Whoever comes the last will be responsible for registration!'' Ben suddenly blurted out. He didn't wait for anyone's response as he ran past their Master and hurried his way in the direction of the nearest town.

''What the! How dare you cheat me, you bastard!'' Jajah who actually believed Ben immediately tagged along. She hurried her way, determined to overtake Ben.

''Ugh, those two sure are lively. Who would play along their childish... game?'' Jax remarked as he sighed and shook his head. But when he was about to finish his words while glancing around him, he found out that he was the only one left out there.

Only then he noticed that Mecaella was already flying towards the town for who knew how she did that. Was that her awakened ability?

No, that wasn't the point here. Jax also noticed that Leovicente couldn't be found anywhere nearby. It was obvious that he already made a move silently and started heading to the town.

''Those bastards...'' Jax suddenly found his eyebrows twitching. How dare they try to trick him?!

No, this couldn't be! Jax didn't want to lose. He would definitely teach them a lesson and make them regret...

However, amidst his furious thoughts, when he was about to make a step forward, he found out that his sandals suddenly got too heavy and tight to the point that he couldn't lift them anymore or even remove them from his feet.

Then a certain lively voice rang out to clear out his doubts.

''Sorry, Leader! I secretly placed my mana to your slippers. That's my revenge on you for hitting my head earlier. Bleeehh!!!''

It was Jajah who shouted. She even stuck her tongue out to annoy Jax all the more.

''That brat... When did she...'' Not only his eyebrows, but his lips kept twitching violently this time. Her ability was really infuriating, but to think that he would fall to such a lowly trick.

That brat... He would definitely teach her a lesson once he managed to get himself out of that condition.

''What happened to all of you? Why are you in such a pathetic state?''

Somewhere in a luxurious and magnificent hall, there sat a king on the throne. His voice rang out as he squinted his eyes before the three people kneeling down there in front of him.

Not surprisingly, it was the three Magic Knights who killed Jax and the band before.

''I'm sorry, father the King, we failed the mission.'' Cassandra, the one in the middle spoke humbly. As much as she wanted to raise her head, her shame just didn't allow her.

Recalling what happened some time ago, her body couldn't help but shiver in sheer terror.

A person, no, a monster like that was someone she never wished to meet ever again in this life.
