Chapter 45: The Dark Knights

Batman and his team left Metallo to watch the ship. He was a hidden card for the team. Wanting to create talk around the team, Batman and his team took to the sky and flew to the Bounty Hunter Guild's location.

It was rare to see people flying, typically people took some kind of speeder. The odd thing was that no one could figure out how they were flying. Only one of them seemed to be using a jetpack. The rest of them flew without using a speeder, flying disc, or anything else for that matter.

They arrived at the guild and walked in. The noisy place quieted down as they observed the unknown team. Although most of the bounty hunters looked calm, fear welled up in their hearts. Especially when they looked at Batman and the Hulk!

Batman walked to the registration and information window. An old Zabrak sat behind the window.

"I want to register my team," Batman said with an electronic grumble. The Zabrak was taken aback for a moment.

"Registration is 2,000 credits, I need some ID and to see your faces to make sure everything matches," he said.

"Register us, old man! Do not waste the Hulk's time!" The Hulk bellowed at him.

"I...I am sorry sir, but these are the rules, the law. I am not permitted to issue a bounty hunter license without verification of identity," the old man said.

"It's fine, Hulk, everyone, take off your helmets and give him your ID," Batman said. Everyone in the guild was curious about what these people would look like. The leader was a Chiss warrior, and the large angry man was a Gen'dai. The one in yellow and black looked like a Zabrak. The female was a human or near-human race. The final two were both Duros, although one's skin was more of a reddish purple.

"Fine, fill this out while I run your IDs," the Zabrak said as gave Batman a tablet and then he collected the IDs and turned around to a machine behind him. Batman handed the paperwork to Omega. She used one of her droid tools to fill out the information before the Zabrak turned around.

Batman tossed the tablet onto the counter, "done."

The Zabrak turned back and was surprised by how quickly they filled out the paperwork. Far be it for him to care how they were able to fill it out so quickly. He returned the IDs to everyone and they put their helmets back on.

The old Zabrak turned back to the bench behind him took out round medallion-looking objects and gave them to Batman.

"You are registered as the Dark Knights, each of these is your Guild ID. Show these turning in or registering for a bounty. Rookie teams are only allowed to take on one job at a time. As your reputation grows, you'll be able to take on more jobs at once.

If you want to take on bounty missions, you can go to any of the tables and search through missions. When you have found a mission you like, register at one of those windows over there," The Zabrak pointed to a series of eight horizontally aligned counters with protective windows.

"Any questions?" The old Zebrak asked.

Batman didn't answer but turned around and went to one of the tables. The others silently followed behind him. It turned out Batman's no-nonsense approach to life was pretty normal for a bounty hunter. The Zabrak not only took no offense to Batman's rudeness, he was glad to be done with him.

Batman sat down and looked through the missions list and communicated with Omega about some of the missions. They only knew this because Batman would look at her from time to time and point at the screen. Sometimes she would nod or shake her head.

Bobby and Johnny didn't care. Neither of them leads teams very often. They hated making decisions and letting someone else do it. They both trusted Batman and quickly grew bored. They stood up and looked around the Guild for a while.

Batman must have noticed them, "Everyone but Omega can leave and take a look at the town. Don't get into any trouble."

The remaining four members of the team walked out of the guild happy to be free. Johnny and Bobby left on their own and Hulk and Signal walked off together.

Back inside the guild, Batman and Omega finished finding their mission. They walked over to the mission counter to register.

A young woman stood at the counter. She would be pretty if she weren't so ugly.

"We'll take Mission 1A434B7. I understand you purchase information here, is that true?" Batman asked.

The woman gave him an intimidated look while nodded.

"Good, I happen to know that there are three missions with the wrong targets, is that something you'd pay money for?" Bruce asked.
