Chapter 165: Lick it

Tess rubbed her finger around the rim of the empty coffee mug. Her other hand with the elbow on the table was under her jaw. Her blinks counted every minute she waited for Lanse who usually was the second to wake up. For some reason he was late, and she hadn't gotten the kiss that had kept her mind awake all night. How dare he kept her waiting!

Lanse walked through the archway to the kitchen in his white shirt and sweatpants. Tess stood from her stool to meet him halfway. 

"You're late," she told him with her forehead pressing into his. 

He moved his hands around her waist to get to her back. "You didn't say a time and I had to do over my hair--"

"Sshhh." She pressed one finger against his lips but held back from kissing him. The footsteps heading that way got her ears to twitch and she took one step away from him.
