Chapter 22: The Wrath of the Devil King

Timothy had been indecisive for two days and still hadn't summoned the courage to tell Sylvia about Caleb's intention to come for a celebratory ceremony. As it turned out, before Timothy could even tell Sylvia about the celebration, he discovered something else that infuriated him - a letter from Caleb.

But, it wasn't really a letter. Rather, it was a secret message sent in the name of Arcadia Magic Academy, hidden amongst many diplomatic documents. At first, Timothy didn't even realize it was from Caleb. He had been reviewing the documents in the royal library when he came across one that puzzled him. It only contained one sentence: "I will be expecting."

Usually, even if the documents were filled with useless chatter, one could understand what they intended to convey. But this one, with just a single sentence, left Timothy quite perplexed. Shifting his gaze, he noticed the name 'Caleb' written at the end of the document.

George sat nearby, quietly handling political matters. Suddenly, he heard a sound from Timothy's direction that startled him, causing him to leave a streak of ink on the document he was reviewing. George looked towards Timothy to see his face filled with rage, glaring fiercely at the document he'd thrown on the floor.

"Your Majesty, what's wrong?" George asked, bracing himself against Timothy's fury, "Did something written in the document upset you?"

Timothy didn't answer George but instead pondered what Caleb's message meant. It wasn't like Caleb to randomly write "I will be expecting". It seemed more like a response. However, Timothy hadn't written anything to Caleb nor had he ever received a letter from him before.

An idea flashed in Timothy's mind. A few days back, Sylvia had been preparing lunch for him daily. After they'd eaten, Sylvia would curl up in his arms and help him review the documents.

"Pick out all the diplomatic documents from Arcadia Magic Academy for the last four months," Timothy's voice shook slightly, whether from anger or fear he wasn't sure, "Now, immediately!"

Timothy was truly panicked. He feared Sylvia had been secretly communicating with Caleb. And as for Caleb's "I will be expecting", what was he expecting? What had Sylvia told him that made him respond like that?

Soon, all the documents related to Arcadia Magic Academy were presented to Timothy. He examined each one carefully, and eventually found what he was looking for. All the documents to be presented to the king were usually transcribed by someone to make copies for execution and future reference. Those responsible for transcribing were highly skilled at mimicking handwriting.

Therefore, even though the document Timothy was now looking at was a copy, he still recognized the handwriting as Sylvia's. He knew Sylvia's handwriting intimately, one glance was enough for him to recognize her script.

Timothy held the newly found document and compared the handwriting carefully with the one that said, "I will be expecting." In the end, he was 100% certain that both were written by Caleb.

In reality, putting the two documents side by side, it didn't seem like anything significant. It was merely a letter from Caleb inviting the Demon King to discuss a peace agreement between the three races. And Sylvia had replied in a very official tone, stating that this would be put on the agenda, but as the demon race was currently very busy, they asked for some patience. When spring came, the Demon King would visit the Arcadia Magic Academy in person to discuss the details of the peace agreement with the heroes of the human race.

Everything seemed normal.

However, the celebration matter made Timothy feel that Caleb's reply, "I will be expecting", was tinged with a sense of longing, as if something had already been decided without being finalized and could only end with a sigh, yet it never stopped.

Furious, Timothy ordered George, "Send my orders for the four demon generals guarding the border to prepare for war."

"I want to level the Arcadia Magic Academy," Timothy declared. How could he bear it if Caleb was trying to woo Sylvia under his nose?!

Although there were two parties involved, Timothy still blamed Caleb for everything. Sylvia couldn't possibly be at fault. Look at the formal tone she used. Sylvia was simply politely and distantly responding to a diplomatic letter on behalf of her husband, the Demon King, helping him share the burden.

And Caleb? Before Sylvia's response, he had been writing in the name of the Arcadia Magic Academy. But once he got her reply, he put his name on his own response, as if he was afraid others wouldn't know the letter was from him.

Caleb must have recognized Sylvia's handwriting, thinking that she would see this letter, as she had the previous one. That's why he purposely wrote his name at the end.

What exactly was he expecting? Was he expecting the Demon King himself? Peace among the three races? Or was he hoping Sylvia, who was already married, would accompany her Demon King husband to the Arcadia Magic Academy, so he could catch another glimpse of the woman he yearned for?

Timothy thought to himself that he shouldn't have withdrawn his troops so quickly before. If he had let Caleb die in the war back then, he wouldn't be dealing with these distressing issues now.

As soon as Timothy ordered preparations for war, George quietly sent a guard to fetch Sylvia.

George wasn't against war and even hoped that their Demon King could unite the world. However, Sylvia didn't want to see the suffering of people in wartime. Unless there was no other solution to the problem, she would certainly stop Timothy.

All demons knew their king was proud and arrogant, looking down on everyone else. Only Sylvia could influence his actions, change his thoughts. Therefore, even if war truly broke out with the humans, their king would surely choose peace again under Sylvia's influence. After all, the king would ultimately choose to listen to Sylvia, maintaining friendly relations with the other two races, so why start a war when they already knew its outcome, further intensifying the enmity between the three races already seen as adversaries?

George was self-aware; he knew he could not sway Timothy's will, so he quickly called for Sylvia. It was a matter of great importance, so Sylvia quickly rushed over.

"Sylvia? How come you're here?" Upon seeing Sylvia, Timothy was taken aback, then hastily went to meet her. As soon as Sylvia entered Timothy's sight, his rage subdued, his expression shifting several times until finally settling into a relatively peaceful one.

Now, the temperature in the demon capital was quite cold. Fearing Sylvia might get cold, Timothy quickly took off his robe and draped it over her, calling for someone to bring a few pots of burning coals.

As they entered the royal study, Sylvia, holding Timothy's sleeve, asked with concern, "Why are you angry?" Timothy pursed his lips and said, "No." He didn't want Sylvia to hear any news about Caleb.

As they arrived at the desk, Timothy sat down on the main seat, pulling Sylvia into his arms. Timothy held Sylvia tightly, trying to use his body warmth to dispel Sylvia's cold.

Seeing this, George quietly retreated. Among the demons, it was known and respected that one should never disturb the private moments between the king and queen.

"You're angry." Sylvia's hand gently patted Timothy's, comforting him, "Can you tell me why?" Timothy didn't say anything, just held Sylvia tighter. Seeing this, Sylvia smiled and said, "Alright, since you don't want to talk about it, I'll just stay with you until you feel better, okay?"

Timothy didn't answer, just buried his head in the crook of Sylvia's neck and gently rubbed against her. Timothy was never one to suppress his anger. If he was angry, he would definitely seek to destroy the person or thing that angered him. But after meeting Sylvia, he started learning to control his reckless behavior and restrain his impulsive nature.

Timothy was stubborn. He held Sylvia for nearly three to four hours without his anger subsiding. Sylvia didn't mind, just silently accompanying him, gently rubbing the tense veins on Timothy's hand, hoping to soothe his mood a little.

Timothy had accepted all of her darkness and negativity, so naturally, she was willing to tolerate all of Timothy's tantrums.

As night fell, the demon guard stationed at the palace door listened carefully and guessed there were no intimate activities going on inside. He then carefully stepped in.

"Your Majesty, do you want to dine here?" the demon guard asked. Sylvia gently tugged at Timothy's arm, her voice soft, "Do you want to eat here or should we go back?"

Timothy, still angry, remained silent for a while before replying, "We'll eat here." Receiving Timothy's answer, the demon guard left the royal study and ordered the king and queen's dinner to be brought here.

"Dinner's ready." Sylvia leaned against Timothy's head, rubbing against it, and said, "Can you stop being angry for a moment and eat first? You need to eat to have the energy to be angry."

Timothy still didn't want to speak, but at least he responded this time. He raised his head, one hand cradling Sylvia's legs onto his lap, so that Sylvia, who had been leaning against him, was now resting on his side.

Sylvia let Timothy adjust her body. Once he stopped moving, she obediently wrapped her arms around Timothy's neck and planted a kiss on his face.

"Are you feeling a bit better now?" Just as the maids were bringing in the food, Sylvia asked, "Do you want to eat? Should I feed you?"

Timothy didn't answer Sylvia, but said to himself, "Caleb sent you a bridal dress."

This made Sylvia pause for a moment, and she asked, puzzled, "What bridal dress?"

"The bridal dress that your human race uses for marriage, the one Caleb sent you," Timothy replied with a heavy voice. After thinking for a long time, he decided to tell Sylvia everything.

Timothy lowered his gaze, his tone very heavy, "I also saw him writing you a letter, and you responded."

Sylvia was even more confused, "What letter?"

Timothy searched on the desk for a while and took out two memorial tablets for Sylvia to see. His tone even seemed a bit aggrieved, "Look for yourself."

Sylvia opened the two tablets, read them, and laughed, "Isn't this about the invitation from the Arcadia Magic Academy for you to visit, and you said you would consider it next spring?"

Timothy got anxious, "This is your response, and it's Caleb's handwriting."

"I only wrote it down," Sylvia said, "The reply was yours, don't you remember? I asked you about it."

"As for the handwriting, I really didn't pay attention, after all, it's not important," Sylvia laughed and looked into Timothy's eyes, "Are you angry because of this?"

Timothy somehow felt embarrassed. He now seemed like a petty wife who was jealous and acting out in front of her husband. He knew he was in the wrong, yet he still acted irrationally, wanting his lover to coax him more.

"There's also the bridal dress," Timothy said, "He also sent you a bridal dress."

"What bridal dress?" Sylvia said, "It's inappropriate for a man to send another man's wife a bridal dress, we should have it sent back later."

When Sylvia mentioned returning the wedding clothes to Caleb, Timothy hastily asked, "Why send it back? If you really don't want it, just destroy it."

"If I destroy it, it would seem like I had accepted the gift," Sylvia said, patting Timothy's head. "It's better to return it. He will understand what it means."

"If you don't like what he sends in the future, just return it all. After a few times, I'm sure he won't be sending all sorts of rubbish anymore."

Timothy's mood improved slightly after hearing Sylvia's words.

"Now that everything is sorted out, shall we eat?" Sylvia picked up a piece of lamb with one hand and held it underneath to prevent the juice from dripping onto their clothes.

Holding the lamb to Timothy's mouth, Sylvia said, "The food will get cold soon, so if you're still angry, could you wait until after dinner?"

Timothy and Sylvia looked at each other for a moment, and eventually, he opened his mouth to eat the piece of lamb.

After chewing and swallowing the lamb, Timothy picked up his chopsticks, also took a piece of lamb, and said, "You eat too."

Sylvia curved her eyes as she took the piece of lamb into her mouth.

Throughout the meal, they fed each other.

Timothy was indeed upset, and even though he could usually eat four or five bowls of rice, he only ate one today and didn't eat anymore.

When he couldn't eat any more, Sylvia didn't force him. She just had the servants remove all the dishes they had finished and continued to coax her temperamental husband.

"Why are you still angry?" Sylvia asked, "What can I do to make you happy? Do you need me to do something?"

The hand that Timothy had around Sylvia's waist tightened. "Hug me," he said.

Sylvia immediately gave him a hug.

While hugging Timothy, Sylvia asked, "Is there anything else you need?"

Timothy turned his face and gave Sylvia's cheek a few gentle kisses. "I need you to kiss me," he said.

Sylvia gave him a kiss too.

Their lips met briefly.

Timothy was not satisfied. "Is that all? Kiss me deeper."

So Sylvia, with both hands cradling Timothy's face, used her tongue to pry open his lips and gently wrapped her tongue around his, deepening the kiss in response to Timothy's movements.

Their hot breaths intertwined, and Timothy's hand slipped down Sylvia's waistline, giving her soft buttock a squeeze.

"Mmm~" Sylvia let out a soft moan.

After they had kissed enough, Sylvia asked, "Do you want me to undress?"

Surprisingly, Timothy did not agree. Instead, he looked into Sylvia's eyes and asked in a nearly pleading tone, "Can you call me by that name?"

Sylvia was momentarily stunned, then asked, "Which name... Mimi?"

"Mm," Timothy nodded.

Sylvia was somewhat surprised. She knew Timothy didn't like that name because he felt it was embarrassing.

But she didn't ask further, she just softly said, "Mimi."

Upon hearing Sylvia's words, Timothy closed his eyes, hugged Sylvia's waist tightly, and leaned against her chest.

He really didn't like that name.

But only this name could make him feel that he wasn't just a stranger who had suddenly appeared in Sylvia's life. He was also with Sylvia, sharing all the sadness and joy with her.

The time he had spent with Sylvia was no less than that of Caleb.

In the next chapter, the male protagonist in his cat form will make an appearance.
