Chapter 14: Upgrading Mortal Possessions

When he got home, he quickly focuses his Appraisal all around his home. As he learned that anything he owns can be upgraded through his Appraisal, he wanted to see just how wide the variety of things it can upgrade that it covers.

[(Common) Small Wooden House] (+)

[(Common) Straw Bed] (+)

[(Common) Wooden Table] (+)

[(Common) Wooden Chair] (+)

There are a lot more but basically it was all categorize as common. Looking at the cost of upgrading it, it seems like they only costs 1 Point.

He wonders what kind of changes it will show if he upgrades it.

He first looks at his sword and mentally clicks the "+" button.

[Would you like to upgrade Iron Sword to the next rank? This will cost 1 Point!] (Y/N)

He quickly picks the "Y" button before averting his gaze for a bit as the sword shines for a moment. It only took a second before the changes is done.

"Wow...." His eyes widened as he looks at the new look of the sword.

It's former look is an old decent looking sword with some hints of chips and wear from it's blade. Now it looks brand new and the blade have a sheen to it that reflects the light clearly.

[(Uncommon) Enchanted Iron Sword] (+)

That was what he saw from his prompt through his Appraisal technique. His eyes glint in excitement at that as he tries to upgrade it once more.

[Would you like to upgrade Enchanted Iron Sword to the next rank? This will cost 10 Points!] (Y/N)

"Yes!"

The sword shines once more before it changes form after a moment. This time there is an obvious sparkle at it. A strong concentration of Qi is gathered around it's blade.

[(Rare) Mystical Iron Sword] (+)

"A magical item!" He smiled greatly at that.

His System is truly strong. It can even turn trash into a treasure. He felt so happy and blessed that he got this kind of System.

"If this follows the same pattern as my abilities, then the next cost will be a hundred, right?"

[Would you like to upgrade Mystical Iron Sword to the next rank? This will cost 100 Points!]

He smirks at that. Now more than ever becoming grateful that he got this kind of System.

With this new avenue, a lot of options opened up to him. This will help him with a lot of things, not just in combat but also on his own personal life.

"Now I was debating whether to sell these heavenly items or continue with my own life..." He quickly shook his head out of that thoughts. "No, trouble will come to me if I deliberately get myself involved with the Cultivators!"

He quickly held himself back there. That will lead to a life full of trouble if he tries to let greed take hold of him.

Weapons of this grade will only attract Cultivators. Mortals doesn't care about if he is holding a strong artifact. They can't eat it, nor would it help in their work after all.

".... Saying that, this still brings a lot of options to me." He muttered to himself with a smile.

Even if he is not planning to sell his wares, he can literally upgrade anything he owns. Who says that he can't give what he own to the others?

And there are a handful of people who he is very grateful for. One of them is Old Wang from the local farm. The others are his co-workers who always helps him when he is still struggling with his work.

"Right, I'm thinking how I can pay them back with my gratitude. Doesn't giving them treasures enough to show my sincerity?" He was quickly convinced about his own words.

No one would reject gifts that are obviously precious. It would be very weird if they still don't like it.

"Though first of all, I should upgrade anything in my house. Having a nice house is not a bad thing after all!" He told himself as he crosses his arms and nodded to himself.

With that, he started upgrading everything in his house.

Upgrading everything only took him an hour before he was done. He was satisfied with what he has done.

He upgraded almost everything to the Rare category, while some are upgraded to Super Rare. Then he upgraded his sword and current outfit into Ultra Rare items.

Those fours only costs him a total of 4,444 Points. As the others were only upgraded to the Rare category, they only costs 11 Points each. As for the Super Rares, those costs a total of 111 for each of them.

His house which is now a Super Rare structure looks more gorgeous than every. It is still made of wood but it is very large now and it seems to have expanded the land it covers too. It is so magical as it felt like it added a nonexistent land to add to this world, pushing the others away so it can have it's own space.

His possessions looks very gaudy. His bed felt like one that emperors only uses. His pantry expanded greatly. Even his cooking utensils seems to be releasing some profound energies and the whole place are giving off a mysterious aura.

"Mhm... as expected. Having a nice house is not a bad idea! I am very satisfied with this!" He said to himself with a smile.

This might look very wide for a single person to live in, but he actually likes it. He felt like he has advanced on the world. Like he succeeded in life.

"... I still have a lot of time, so maybe I should go to the forest to train more!"

With that plan set, he immediately left the house. He don't feel that scared anymore as he have a strong weapon and an enchanted gear along with him. If he still scared even with all of this, how can he call himself a man?
