Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Kuroda

Word had spread like wildfire through the school—the bullies who had once reigned with impunity had been defeated. The hallway buzzed with excited whispers, students sharing exaggerated accounts of the bathroom brawl that had taken place the day before.

"Did you hear? Koda actually took down Tsuga and his lackeys!"

"I heard they were begging for mercy, but he didn't let up."

"No way! Koda? The same Koda that gets shoved into lockers and wastes all his money on Tsuga's lunch?"

The rumors were in full circle, painting a picture of a new Koda—a Koda who had transformed from prey to predator. He was the talk of the school.

Amidst the chatter, in a quiet classroom tucked away from the bustling hallway, Hana Kurosawa sat at her desk, flipping through the pages of her textbook. She was engrossed in her studies, her focus unwavering as she attempted to decipher the complex equations before her.

The classroom door creaked open, and Hana looked up, her eyes widening in surprise as Koda Ihono entered. His presence was like a ripple in the tranquil atmosphere, drawing the attention of every student in the room.

By now, news of Koda's fight had spread to the entirety of the school.

Hana's heart raced as she observed him from afar. She had known Koda for a long time, seen him endure the torment of the bullies. She honestly hadn't believed the rumors, but seeing him walk into the class, he felt... Different.

Koda took a seat, his eyes scanning the room briefly before he turned his attention to his own desk. His fingers traced the edges of a notebook, and he sat in silence.

As the teacher's voice droned on, Hana found herself unable to focus on her studies. She watched Koda from the corner of her eye, her mind spinning with questions and a newfound sense of curiosity.

Finally, when the class ended and the students began to shuffle out, Hana hesitated before gathering her belongings. She felt a tinge of apprehension, a mixture of curiosity and concern that compelled her to approach Koda.

"Hey," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Koda looked up, his gaze meeting Hana's. For a moment, his expression was unreadable, but he soon smiled his usual smile. "What's up?" He asked, confused as to why she was talking to him.

"Congratulations on... you know," Hana offered, a small smile tugging at her lips. "You really showed them."

"Huh? Oh Thanks," he replied, his voice tinged with a note of surprise. "I guess things have changed a bit..."

Hana nodded, her curiosity getting the best of her. "What happened? How did you...?"

Koda's gaze shifted, his fingers tracing a scar on his knuckles—a reminder of the battle he had fought. "I was given a chance, and I took it. I've had enough of being their punching bag."

Hana's eyes softened, a mixture of admiration and empathy filling her gaze. "You seem different now, Koda. Stronger."

"Yeah?" He asked with a frown, "So what you want to be friends again?" He finished, venom in his words as Hana took a small step back.

Hana flinched at the words. "Koda I... I'm sorry, I was young back then and-"

"And being best friends with the school loser was too much to bear with... Don't worry Hana I understand," Koda said, pushing past her.

"I believe in you, Koda," Hana said suddenly, tears in her eyes as Koda reached the door.

Koda paused, his steps faltering for a moment. He glanced back at Hana. "Thanks, Hana. That means a lot."

Koda opened the sliding door only to be pushed back into the classroom, a familiar face staring down at him.

"Sup loser, heard you made some stupid debut?" Kuroda said with a wide, mocking smile as he stepped into the classroom. The atmosphere seemed to tense up as his presence filled the room.

Koda's heart raced at the sound of Kuroda's voice. His fists clenched instinctively, a mixture of anger and fear coursing through his veins.

Koda's muscles tensed, his body coiled and ready to spring into action. He stood up quickly, fists up ready for a fight.

"You really want to fight me?" Kuroda's voice was edged with determination, his tone daring Koda to back down. Koda gulped a bit, but he didn't back down.

Kuroda's laughter cut through the tension, a derisive sound that echoed through the classroom. "Come on, Koda," he taunted, his voice dripping with arrogance. "Just 'cause you beat Tsuga doesn't mean you can take me on."

Koda gritted his teeth and was about to lunge at the taller boy before a powerful force struck him from the side, sending him stumbling across the classroom. He landed with a thud against a desk, his vision momentarily blurred.

Kuroda's lackey stood beside him, a triumphant grin on his face as he towered over Koda. "Easy there, tough guy. You're not even worth Kuroda's time."

Koda pushed himself to his feet, his breath coming in ragged gasps.

Kuroda approached, his gaze fixated on Koda with a mixture of amusement and superiority. "You're a real piece of work, you know that? Fine, we'll settle this. End of school, behind the gym. We'll see if you're as tough as you think."

As Kuroda and his lackey turned to leave, Koda's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. As they left he heard a loud ding in his head and looked up to see the familiar holographic interface of the Delinquency System.

"At the end of the day?" Koda said aloud as he stood up, brushing himself off and walking out of the classroom.

"Oh no..." Hana said as she shook in place...
