Chapter 10: Saarthal

As days passed on, the camp was soon turned on a semi-city.

The door that leads inside was pure black, made with Ebony lingots. And, finally, as decoration, a dragon's head staring at the visitor.

Perhaps, because they were in a hurry to complete the residential area, they forgot to add traps in the city.

Although the city was not finished, Miraak already could see the remembered Saarthal prior to the slaughter.

With over 1.000 residents ( In that Era and for Atmorians, it was quite a big number for only 1 city ), It was full of life.

...

Inside Saarthal, sitting in a room was Miraak, Aron, Arnora, Vigot, Ysgramor and the other leaders staring at someone.

"... What are you doing here?" Miraak asked as he tilted his head.

"I'm here as a Representative of the Snow Elves of Unsthalas. We do not want to have a conflict with you." Aumriel said as she took a scroll out and spread it across the table.

"In this scroll, there are conditions for trade between Unsthalas and..." Aumriel started talking but stopped, remembering that she forgot to ask the city's name.

"... Saarthal." Miraak said clicking his tongue.

"... And Saarthal." She continued as if the earlier situation never happened to begin with.

Standing up, the leaders started to see the scroll.

Strangely enough, although it was in another language, they could still understand it.

Seeing the leaders staring confused at her, Aumriel said, "It's translation magic. Made by..." and stopped as she saw the leaders uninterested in the argument.

'... What am I doing here?' She thought as she stared at the ceiling dumbly.

Finally finishing reading, Arnora said to Aumriel, "So, as long we exchange equal value items and don't get violent with each other, it's okay? And those conditions... It applies to both of us, right?"

"... Of course." Aumriel said awkwardly. After all, to get these conditions, she had to literally beg her parents while threatening the nobles.

Since she knew how much power Miraak had ( It's extremely weak in his opinion ), she thought it would be highly possible to have more and more people of such power on the Atmorian Race.

Although she knew the extent of the Snow Elves' power combined, the power of the Atmorians is still a mystery to them, so it's better if they analyze the situation first.

Or so is her only opinion.

Since she was still ignorant of spells stronger than Ice Storm, she shouldn't be considered 'Strong'... yet.

"Good. Here, take it and leave." Arnora said as the leaders finished reading and signing it.

Taking the scroll, Aumriel took it and left. Staying more would deteriorate the relationship.

...

Finally leaving the meeting, Miraak soon disappeared from Saarthal.

Since they arrived, he started creating another hideout.

Since he was quite stronger than before and with more resources like arrows, poison, and weapons.

Firstly using a combo of elemental runes, such as Fire, Frost, Lightning, Poison, and Sun Runes, he made a path impossible to cross without the right timing.

Secondly putting arrow traps with poison on every single room of his hideout, as long as he knew that people are there, he could kill them instantly.

Of course, since it was inside his rooms, he removed the need to activate them through pressure plates but by long-range activation through destroying a Fire Rune connected to the traps.

Since it was through destroying a Fire Rune, he could only activate them one time before the need to spell again the Rune.

The only people who could enter his hideout would be the Psijic Order. But, since even in Apocrypha, information on the Order is extremely limited, Miraak could only hope that, for now, they don't pay attention to him.

After a month of helping Saarthal, he could finally restart training on the Arcane.

Since increasing Magicka in extremely more difficult to increase then Stamina, Miraak could only patiently train.

Since the beginning of his training, he could only feel his Magicka increasing by 1 every time he emptied it, quite the difference with Stamina since it increased 10 every time he emptied it.

Trying various combinations of Magics, such as the earlier combination of Ice Spike and Fire Rune, Miraak found out that it's becoming easier and easier for him to combine spells completely.

"... This is..." He suddenly said as he saw the spell on his left hand, Drain Blood, a spell that temporarily inflicts damage on an adversary's Health and Magicka and Ignites, a spell that sets targets of fire, doing damage per second, wanting to fuse together, as if one was the half of the other.

"Let's try it... Wa-" Miraak said wanting to try it out but soon was stunned by the violence of the fusion, exploding on his hands. The explosion was so great the entire room was destroyed, along with the trap inside it.

Fortunately, he was an Arch-Mage in the past, so he was already ready to use physical and magical wards.

"... Damn... I'm becoming lazy... I forgot to fortify the room... Look at this mess..." Miraak kept murmuring to himself as he stared at the destroyed room.

'At least, I found out that it's, technically, possible to fuse nonphysical spells together... It's just harder then fusing a physical one with a nonphysical...' He thought as he sighed.

Leaving the hideout and returning to Saarthal, he saw his Magic Schools finally arriving at the Adept level.

Although he was an Adept level mage, his Magicka pool was still small.

'... Oh right... The reason I had an immeasurable pool of Magicka before was the...' Miraak thought but stopped seeing various ships arriving at the shore. Along with them, was a wave of Dragons flying over.

One of the Dragons was a frightening black Dragon with big horns and red eyes, Alduin.

'... The Dragon Priest Ritual...' Miraak thought as he stared at Alduin.

After all, he technically will be a Dragonborn in the future, if the future goes in the way he remembers.
