Chapter 8: Sensational Meet
He was taller than me and so his warm breath was tingling on my cheek, I was feeling billions of butterflies dancing in my stomach. I had never felt this before, once in college, my friends used to tell me about their love life but this never came in my mind that at some point in my life I will able to feel this. we were looking into each other eyes and suddenly the caller tune of my phone echoed in the whole living room. I took my head back from his grip and glanced at the caller id it was my mom, I picked the call and went upstairs after talking to her I came back to the living room and noticed he was gone. I went near the table and saw a note depicting his words "I am leaving, take care and sleep well".
Do you know how much time does it take to love someone, or how much time does it take to hate someone? well for me loving and hating the same person was something that made me a living corpse. I never knew I would love someone so badly that it will destroy me and hate someone so dangerous that it will take me to my own end.
The next morning everything was calm and as usual, until I found that he was on leave. at the moment I thought he must have encountered something important or might have been ill because yesterday he was drenched. I started working but his thoughts never left my head, I was worried and wished if he could send me a message to say he was alright. I tried focussing on my work but couldn't do anything he made me engross in his thoughts. I stood up and went to take stroll through the office, while I was passing two girls were talking among themselves and when I heard the name Robbert I froze for a moment and heard them saying "he has caught a cold and is resting at home, I wish I could get his address so that I can drop by his home and take care of him. While they were chatting i completely squeezed the packet of milkshake and threw it in the dustbin. I reached my cabin and called my assistant and told her to block any unknown access to employee's personal information. At first, Lara got shocked but left with a nod.
I thought to try the idea of looking into his address but I couldn't make myself do it. While I was still fighting with myself whether to look on it or not, Sam came to my cabin and told: "we should send get well soon flowers to Robbert's house as he is ill". I told him "ok...but let me have a look at it before you send it". He paused for a moment but left. I thought of an idea and went ahead with my work. He came with a bouquet of white tulips and kept the flowers on the table and said: " This is the address on which we have to send this bouquet". I was looking at my desktop but looked at his direction at the mention of the address. I took the card and read the address, the good thing was that I could memorize anything for eternity and did so. This thing was good for me by profession but at a personal level, it was only destructive for me which I learned in the future.
In the evening I told Lara and Sam that I needed some items for my house so I will left early. I went to my house and changed into something that could cover my whole body, I wore a health mask to cover half of my face and a cap to cover my head.
I took my bike instead of the car and went to the address that the mind was continuously speaking. It took me fifteen minutes to reach the address. It was an apartment and he lived on the twelfth floor so I boarded the elevator and reached his door. I became nervous before pressing the bell and I was calming my racing heart before facing him. It felt like my heart will jump out the moment I will see him. After regaining calmness and stability of my heartbeat I pressed the bell but got no reply I pressed it again but in vain. I knocked on the door and the little force of my hand made the door slightly move and I saw the door was not locked. I opened the door saying " are you there?
But I didn't get a reply so I went inside and asked again "Robbert are you in there?. The room was total dark only the light from the balcony made it little visible. Before I could react any further I heard him saying "I knew you would come". With this, he hugged from the back and I went numb by his sweet gesture. Little did I know it was a depth of abyss that will ultimately drown me.
