Chapter 2: At some point, my heart longed for you
You are a touch of the fading daylight, a setting sun—both a promise and a goodbye. A mixture of cool breeze gathering waves into its hand, tempting the sea to leave the shore and the fading ray of a star longing to come home, sighing its last breaths just to feel alive. Not too cold to freeze my soul. Not too warm to melt my heart.
You were my calm. And maybe, it could've been something more.
If only things were as easy as blacks and whites when what we had was not just mornings and nights, this is twilight. Nowhere near to hold yet, not far enough to be untouched. Like a dream you kept holding unto in a state of half-consciousness—a fantasy just too achingly beautiful to let go and wake up to reality. We could've been more if only we were brave enough.
I guess this is where I should stop myself.
Because maybe we are just playing safe. Wanting the fire but is afraid to get burned. Seeking somewhere to belong to but had no intention to stay. We never dared to say the truths behind every silence, didn't even name the emotions we could almost feel.
Yes, maybe it was almost love.
