Chapter 28: Tournment change
I immediately went towards the laboratories, where the entrance to the underground factory is.
I used my ID card to get past the many security measures, and after 10 minutes of walking, I finally arrived at my personal factory.
It was relatively big being a circular area with several big and small machines scattered around it.
I had already long deactivated many surveillance methods. So I quickly got my clones out to work.
In the middle of the lab, on a small machine, there was a core. I knew which core this was. Number 467 is the last core that was made before Tabane disappeared. I don't know about the other cores, but what I do know is that core N1 is the best of all the cores Tabane ever made. At least the ones that appeared in the show.
As for N467? I can see some differences in specs but it isn't that great compared to the others.
Better than nothing.
My goal now is to finish my IS prototype in the next month.
I was given free rein to buy and acquire resources as in my Executive Identity, but I don't plan to use any of the resources in the academy, unless strictly necessary.
For now, I will work with what I have while I wait for the first material delivery next week. I made the requisition of materials last week and it was finally approved. I bore the monetary ends though.
I will also start to look for ways to gain money to support my research.
With these machines, I should also be able to finish my tools. Just give me a week or two and they will be done. This way I will have two fighting modes at my disposal. A smaller, more stealthy approach using only my body and my tools, and the IS approach.
On the same day at night
On top of the arena, Laura looked towards the moon.
-Instructor, your absolute strength is incomparable and it's the reason for me to exist.
-But that man… The same man that you praised with a smile I never saw before, I can't accept it. First, it was Orimura Ichika that caused you to soften, and now it's this man that holds incredible strength.
She removed her eyepatch to reveal a golden eye. If you looked very closely you would be able to see some circuits inside of it.
-First I wanted to eliminate Orimura Ichika but now… NO! How can that man be stronger than you? I will prove to you that I am stronger than him and have you come back with me to Germany!
-He said he killed me and that I owed him a life, but I don't have a life to exchange apart from mine… Giving my life to him… Is-Is that a marria-marriage confession?!
-Impossible! What should I do?! A man just proposed to me but I have to kill him...
I watched this scene while eating some popcorn and drinking my tea.
-That's some high-level interpretation skills.
From now on the original me will stay in the lab while the clones will work on the surface. Of course, I plan to leave from time to time.

The next day after school.
At arena number 6, Cecilia and Linlin went to train in preparation for the tournament. Because this time around there were two boys, and each one of the girls was aiming at a different boy, their revelry was much smaller. But they still fought each other as a way to improve themselves.
But their fight was interrupted by a sudden explosion.
Flying in the sky Laura smirked at the other two girls.
Linlin looked at her "monitor" and said out loud.
-Third generation, German model, Schwarzer Roegan!
-Laura Bodewig… Said Cecilia
-What are you trying to do, appearing like that? Shooting at people at first sight? You have a lot of courage! Screamed Linlin
-Shenlong from China… And blue tiers from England? When I saw their technical specifications, they looked more impressive than this.
-What is it? Are you trying to provoke me? Did you come from Germany to get beaten up? … Said Linlin smirking.
-Ara ara. Lin-san. She doesn't speak the same language as us, it's useless to provoke her too much.
-It is impressive that people like you also have a Third-generation personal IS unit.
-A country that has nothing but people, and a country devoid of talent, that only boasts of its past. Said Laura
CRUNCH.
-This is really great, better than most of the movies. I said watching the camera feed.

Linlin was fuming with rage

Cecilia wasn't far off in anger
-How could you insult a person that is not even here? I shall fix your insolence!
-What are you waiting for then? Come come… She said with the classic challenging hand gesture

I watched the fight with interest, although it might be seen that Laura is at a disadvantage, Cecilia and Lin can't really fight together and most of the time only get in each other's way. Thankfully, Shenlong is a close combat IS while Blue tears is a long-range one.
The problem is the special ability of Schwarzer IS. AIC-(Active Inertia Canceller). An inertia negating field that effectively stops any projectile and attacks directed at Laura as long as she can focus on it. It isn't unbeatable though, it can be broken as shown when Laura partially deployed it, making the shield have less power and be broken.
-Tsk! None of my resources are working!
Linlin then started to use evasive maneuvers as Laura used another one of the weapons of her IS: The six wire-guided daggers.
She, unfortunately, wasn't capable enough to flee, and was flung at Cecilia who was far away.
-KYAHHHHHHHHH!
She then went to give the final shot, breaking one of Linlin's Round cannons, but she was hit by Cecilia rockets.
In the air, Laura used her unique daggers that had wires attached to them and tried to tie it around the necks of both Lin and Cecilia. Thankfully their shield was still active, otherwise it would have been an instant decapitation.
She then started to beat up both of them.
-Their shield isn't going to last! Said Charles
-If they continue to take this much damage, their IS will deactivate and their life will be in danger! Said Houki
-That girl…
Ichika looked towards the smirking face of Laura and anger filled him, he activated the IS and broke the barrier around the arena swinging his sword at her.
I couldn't be left behind. My clone was just watching the fight from the Hangar, waiting for my signal.
WIth the positive signal, the clone charged forward.
Ichika was completely still under the effect of AIC.
-The very definition of irrational and stupid. Compared to me and my Schwarzer you are nothing but an insect. Now. disappear!
She aimed her railgun right at Ichika's head
At that moment Charles went in to save him by shooting at Laura.
At that moment the clone finally reached both Cecilia and LIn who were recovering on the ground.
-Excuse me, girls. The clone picked both of them and rushed to a corner of the arena.
-Seiichi…
-That was … elegant of you.
It's good that you two aren't too hurt. Here, take this. I gave them something similar to a mega potion from Monster Hunter. It wasn't nearly as effective but it was good enough.
-What is this green drink?...
-Trust me, it tastes better than it looks.
Behind me in the middle of the arena, Laura was about to slash at Charles with an energy blade when Chifuyu went and blocked it with a big Katana.
With her own body
She then went to reschedule this fight for the Individual tournament since this fight got way over the line when both Cecilia and Lin shields broke.
-So, any private battle is prohibited until the Individual tournament! Dismissed!
On the infirmary
-You didn't need to save us. Said Lin
-IF the fight continued we would have won. Said Cecilia.
-You two are exaggerating.
-Arent you two embarrassed for showing your fragile side to the person you like? Said Charles while putting some cups with water on the table
-Hmm? Ichika didn't understand
-I-I-I don't understand what you are talking about! Said Linlin
-I am not exaggerating! Said Cecilia
-Actually. Why were both of you fighting against Laura?
-She insulted my female pride… Cecilia tried to sound convincing
I took this time to leave secretly as I knew what was going to happen.
Boom. The door was kicked open as an excited crowd of girls burst through it
-What is happening?
-What is this?
Both Ichika and Charles were confused.
All of the girls showed a pamphlet that said.
"To show more realism to the fights. From now on the individual interclass tournament that is going to happen this month is going to be in pairs... "
I read the pamphlet from the comfort of my chair.
-Can I finish the IS in a month?... Can it even be called an IS at this point?
At the center of the factory, a 4-meter tall skeleton of something was suspended.
-Definitely can, but I will have to give up on some weapons… Even if I finish them, it doesn't matter as long as I don't have the "Armor".
-Now, for my future partner...

Abadom 1600 words. Few.
I had some discussions with some of my friends who read the novel and as such had a better overview of my novel current state. My conclusion is that I have not made my character opinion in relation to the girls clear enough, hence, he can be misinterpreted as being a beta, I am sorry if you thought of that. I will make it more clear how a late 30 guy will not fall in love with a 15-year-old girl. Also, the comedy. It wasn't my problem for the most part. It's frustrating but it's originally from the series, and I can't change how the world works too much, otherwise, why come to this world in the first place? The comedy will be toned down to pleasurable levels soon enough.
What do you think? Is what a said just a bunch of bullshit and the novel is fine for now, or are they right and I should change? Or something in between.
