Chapter 8: Soul Devour
First Pov
It´s been a week since I took over the girl's, whose name was apparently Annalee body and I have to say, it took me some time to adjust to the body of a girl in puberty. It was annoying to keep up the act of being the ranger's daughter but he just thought it was that time of the month so he left me some space but I was still going to kill him.
After getting accustomed to the new body, I started to develop a spell that would collect in the region and store them until I collect them. I would have waited a little longer with that project, or at least until I made my soul devour spell, but I heard rumors that the Heart and Clover Kingdom were preparing for war and I just couldn´t pass the opportunity to get so many souls without having to do anything. Apparently that noble dude I killed was the fiancé of the Clover princess and possibly the next King, after the current king learned of the assassination he ordered an investigation and found that the Heart Kingdom was indeed planning an assassination and that was enough to spark the flames of war.

I didn´t have much time before the war started, so I was only able to make a spell that created a dome that stopped the passing of souls in a 20km radius but that had to do for now. I was currently using space magic to move around the border and place the domes in places were a confrontation was likely. During my experiments I gained insight on how to spread my soul farming to the whole world but the process was extremely complicated and demanded an absurd amount of energy but it would definitely pay off. The key to the plan was my newly acquired World tree attribute, using its unique abilities I would be able to spread its roots throughout the whole planet and absorb souls through them. The roots of the World tree were very unique, they had the ability to move through dimensions and connect to them, I could use that feature to hide them from pretty much anyone except very skilled space magic users, all that was left was to somehow combine the tree with the soul devour spell and voila, the planet turned into my personal soul farm. It would increase my energy capacity beyond anything the natives could imagine, as well as give me access to every attribute there is and will be, with exception of anti-magic but I already had a plan for that as well.
The war has been going on for about a month and my harvesting was going well, I spend the beginning of the war making an automatic soul dissection spell so that I didn´t have to cut the core out myself, the only downside was that I had to spend a certain amount of energy at all time to keep it active but that was very quickly rewarded as my reserves grew with each soul I absorbed. On a side note, the ranger died in an 'accident' while he was hunting and I was currently living alone.
The war ended after 7 months with a peace agreement, much to my disappointment. It wasn´t all bad thought, I could finally stop absorbing souls and start focusing on creating my soul devour spell.
Is what I would like to say, but because I now life alone and receive food, shelter and clothing for free, the village elder wants me to become the village seamstress and I a few young boys have tried to court me so that I could marry them when I turn 15. I naturally turned down the boys but I was seriously considering the elders request, not because of consideration, after all I could just mind control the whole village if I wanted to, but because I could train my thread magic and hopefully achieve fate manipulation. After some consideration I decided to agree, mind controlling the village would definitely not go unnoticed by the frequently visiting merchants and there was no need to make myself suspicious, I was playing for time after all, at least until I completed all my plans.

The last two years have been spent mostly with me sewing, or at least that is what it appeared to others. I have been using thread magic to do my work in a matter of minutes and spend the rest of the working hours with research. I have finally completed my soul devour spell, or just devour for short, and achieved something that was close to godly, I created a real soul. Now all that was missing was body, blood, bone and skin magic and I would be able to create real life. I would like to start experimenting with the world tree magic right away but it was time for me to leave, this body was turning 15 soon and then she will receive her grimoire, or at least would if I wasn´t possessing this body, people would notice that she didn´t get one and would start asking questions, so I had three options. First, use illusion magic to make it seem like I got a grimoire at the ceremony, leave the village and life somewhere else or reincarnate again. I thing I was going to go with the first plan, even thought it had the risk that someone could see through the illusion but I doubted that.
