Chapter 32: The first Trial
As soon as I entered the dungeon , I was hit with a feeling I cannot describe ..I felt like there was something in the dungeon I had to get .There was a slight pain in my eyes which I ignored as this can be effect of the dungeon .Inside the dungeon the scene was nothing less than spectacular .Trees around the height of 20 meters all around , small floating landmasses , occasional chirping of birds and insects the whole thing gave a gave a vibe as if we were back in the pre historic era .
I and Finral set out in a direction different from others and found a lot of different tress and animals which resembled dinosaurs quite a bit . I tried killing some but their corpses turned to ash and got mix into the soil almost instantly . I felt like every time we came across a giant dinosaur , a part of Finral died due to fear . He looked towards me as if to ask why I was having so much fun while he was near to have an heart attack .
I ensued that no insect bit as those tiny things most of the time contained deadly poisons .
We kept walking but after a while we found ourselves in the same place from where we began , the same thing happened to all the people .
"Finral try creating a portal outside " I asked.He tried few times but failed but when he tried creating a portal near us it worked . So the place is isolated till be retrieve the artifact I thought.
All of us decided to move in the straight direction , after walking for a while we came across an entrance similar to the one we used to enter the dungeon . This was the only entrance since we entered the dungeon .
When I and Finral entered the dark entrance , my vision got filled with darkness and I felt the pain in my eyes increasing. As my vision cleared I found myself in a new area with grasslands expanding infinitely no end but Finral was no where to be seen .
I turned to look for the entrance but it had disappeared. I waited for some time ,soon a new portal opened but it was not Final who came out of it , it was Letoile ,the woman from Golden Dawn with yellowish green hair color . She was surprised to see me in place of her teammate .
" Where are the others ?" she asked being a little worried .
" I think the trial choose us at random . Most probably others were separated too " I said .
" Its better we cooperate for now . My name is Letoile and my magic is compass magic . I can produce needles of compass for attacks and compass field for defense. What's yours?" she asked .
" My name is Julian , I am a fire mage .I can use fire for wide range as well as short range attacks "
We decided to explore the area for a while but we found nothing except grass lands but we figured that all that we were seeing none of them were real but made of mana . I tried burning the grass but new grass immediately replaced those that were burnt .
After a while mana started gathering over our heads and words started forming .
"Welcome to the trial , if you want to pass the trial survive for one hour " .
Soon after mini earthquakes started to shake the ground as the message disappeared .
I looked around and found small dots that were getting visible and getting larger .
" Did you reach the same conclusion as me ?" she said with a worried face .
" Yes , we have to survive the onslaught of magical beasts " I said while grinning . Through her KI I could feel that she was confused as to why I was smiling seeing the mana beasts when I should be worried . Sorry to say miss but I wanted an opportunity to cause mass destruction .
It was first time in a while I could go all out without being worried about destroying ecosystem of that area .I sensed that I there is not mana in the environment here to absorb and I have to depend on my own reserves but I was not worried as I had a lot of mana to spare .
Soon the figures of magical beasts started appearing and I was surprised to see the seer variation of beasts . Swift eagles , sabertoothed tigers , Giant bears ,Black maned lions etc .running towards us.
I released all restrictions on my mana and said " I will take the frontal assault while you attack the ones I missed , Good luck" and flew towards them without waiting for her reply . The amount of mana I was emitting didn't fail to shock her .
As the weak species were in the front I decided to get rid of them all together .
I sucked a lot of air and used my latest spell which I don't get to try much.
" Fire magic: Great fire Annihilation " I breathed a tsunami of flame covering one forth of the species . Those huge flames destroyed everything in its path creating a black burned area .
Now time for fried chicken . I flew towards the pack of giant eagles twice my size with daggers made from mana in both of my hands . The eagles started charging mana in their beak but I didn't allow and tore thought the eagles in the front . The eagle at the backs charged beam of electricity which I tanked with my blaze shield . The more I killed the more I realized that the beasts were made of pure mana which could be absorbed by my mana core . So I absorbed mana of every beast I killed pressuring my mana core .
This was a good chance to try out a spell that I was developing earlier .Mana condensed around my back and started forming orange wings with each distinct feathers made with hardened mana . I started using these wings as weapons along with my dagger for onslaught of birds and sometime shooting feathers and projectiles .
The wings were not stable yet and just made from normal flames as the spell was not complete yet .
After slaughtering the birds I released flames all around me and dived towards the middle species by rotating at high speed . My rotation along with wild flames all around me created a tornado of flames sucking everything towards it . I could see that two new spells were getting engraved into my grimoire along with its mastery level .
Flame hurricane –proficiency 40%
Flair wings – proficiency 30%

Meanwhile Letoile was dumbfounded by the destruction I was causing ." How can someone be so strong at such a young age . He can fight even better than the nobles I know and his mana is off the roof for a commoner it doesn't make sense . Seems like I underestimated him too much" she thought as she stabbed a needle into a beast .

The tornado of fire wasn't enough the kill the middle tier beasts .I concentrated on the daggers on my hands for few second turning them dark red giving them corrosive effect and started my onslaught . It Continued for about fifteen minutes to kill all low and medium tier beasts .
But the high tier beasts didn't attack me during the slaughter as if waiting for me to get tired and jump on me all together .
I knew that it was time to get serious . I flew away and created some distance from the pack . But I was soon showered with various range attacks by them . I charged my attacks with higher flames while dodging their attacks . After all the preparations were complete I made tons of slashes of different sizes while charging towards them . These managed to critically hurt most of them . Some beasts knew dementalization so they took more effort to kill than others.
I created a [flame tornado] to gather them in one place and used the spell [Eruption] covering as much distance as I could . This caused an large scale explosion killing many of the ones near me . I continued my slaughter . I didn't go unharmed but the injuries were minor and not enough to slow me down in any way .
The claws of Dark maned Lion , The horn of the three horned rhino , and teeth of the Saber tooth tiger were some things I had to be constantly wary of .
A 10 legged spider shot its webs towards me , I dodged it and pulled the spider with the web and slammed it again the Wyvern that was about to shoot a projectile from its mouth . I sidestepped as Lion stroke with its claws the place I stood . I ball of red flames condensed in my hand which I threw in its mouth .

The ball of flames exploded in its mouth not before creating a multiple spiked that stabbed its head from the inside .
The slaughter continued I realized that time was almost up so I returned to my initial position while using phoenix robe .It was fun letting loose and fight without the worry of destroying everything . The stronger I become , the harder it gets to control my urge to cause destruction . I had found that everyone had some of their character traits matching their magic attributes. For example wind type users are usually calmer than others which fire type users liked casing destruction .
I looked towards Letoile and found that she was having difficulty fighting some middle and a few high tier beasts I purposely left her to make her understand the power difference a bit .
Meanwhile after pressuring my core and continuous absorbing pure mana , my mana core upgraded to solid Yellow ,just a few steps away from Silver core . My total mana reserves increased again but for some reason the pain in my eyes increased.
After the one hour time all the animals alive disappeared into thin air and the area returned as it was before starting the fight .
She had a lot of injures with scratch marks all over her clothing ," Had fun ?" I asked jokingly .
" Like hell I was having fun !" for a moment her calm attitude completely changed . She controlled herself and started speaking .
"I know I am weak so without you won't have survived the hoard of magic beasts .You have my gratitude "
I nodded and casted healing spell on her making her.I didn't hate nobles like who knew how to behave properly . Healing her injuries made her have more grateful towards me .
" Congratulations for Passing the trial , please enterer the next chamber" words formed in front of followed by a portal opening near us .
