Chapter 17: The New Shiba
(3rd Person POV)
Inside the Captain-Commander's office in the 1st Division Barracks, the old Shinigami sat on his chair, writing calligraphy on a scroll.
His Vice-Captain, Sasakibe approached him.
"Captain-Commander." Sasakibe said as he knelt down, "Captain Shiba of the 10th Division has invited you and the other Gotei 13 to his estate in celebration of his newborn son."
Yamamoto stopped writing and looked up, "Captain Shiba has a son?" He said with a hint of surprise
"Yes sir." Sasakibe replied, "It appears he's also been married for a few years now."
"Interesting…." Yamamoto said,"Isshin has always been the carefree man, never bothering to let people know of important events in his life. Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to go in and give my regards."
"Very well." Sasakibe said, "I shall send him your answer."
"Hm…" Yamamoto said

With news of Isshin Shiba's new son and his invitation to all Captains, the entire Seretei took kindly to this. Isshin was a beloved captain and was highly respected due to his strength and carefree personality.
[8th Division Barracks]
Captain Kyoraku was sitting down in front of the courtyard, drinking next to Captain Ukitake of the 13th Division.
"Nanao-chan." Shunsui said as he shook the empty bottle in his hand, "Bring me more sake."
"Go get it yourself." Nanao said from across the hallway, "Call me for something productive."
"Haha!" Ukitake laughed, "Your Vice-Captains are always cruel to you, Shunsui!"
"Well, so it seems." Shunsui said, "But can you believe it? Isshin is a Father now."
"Sometimes I worry, though." Ukitake said, "Isshin can be too lax sometimes, more than you. I believe the kid will be fine, having him as his father."
"You're right. The kid's cousins seem to be starting to get jealous, hehe." Shunsui said, "They were getting Isshin's attention all the time but now that'll change."
"You mean Kaien's siblings?" Ukitake said, "Kaien is beyond excited about it."
"He's always been the mature Shiba." Shunsui said, "Well, let me go get another bottle to celebrate this wonderful day."
[6th Division Barracks Office]
"I suppose I could prepare a gift." Captain Kuchiki said as he read a letter sent to him by Isshin, "Maybe a guide on how to better your calligraphy writing…..Damn that Isshin, I could barely read this…."
Renji Abarai, his Vice-Captain, looked at him with a surprised face.
"Y-You're going, Captain?" He asked
"Yes." Byakuya said, "Captain Shiba is a respected member of the Gotei 13. Besides, he'll get beyond insufferable if we don't attend."
"We?" Renji said
"Yes, We." Byakuya gave him a serious look, "You're going too."
[3rd Division Barracks]
"Captain Kurotsuchi." Gin Ichimaru said with his iconic sneer, "You're going to attend the party?"
He was standing behind Mayuri Kurotsuchi, the 12th Division Captain as he tinkered with some sort of device.
"Bah!" Mayuri said, "Captain Ichimaru, you know how busy I am, why would I waste my time attending some newborn brat's welcoming party? I could understand if it is the boy's first birthday or his academy graduation, but he was just born!! Captain Shiba is such a ridiculous man."
Gin chuckled, "Heard there's cake."
"On that note, I suppose i can spare some 30 minutes." Mayuri said as he continued with his tinkering
[11th Division Barracks]
Inside the main hall of the infamous 11th Division, Zaraki Kenpachi was drinking some sake he was gifted by a certain someone.
"Kenny!" Vice-Captain Yachiru said brightly, "You going to the party?"
Kenpachi scowled, "What kind of shit do you take me for?" He asked, "If Isshin doesn't want to fight me, I ain't wasting my time on his bitch ass party."
"Don't be mean!!" Yachiru exclaimed, "There's gonna be cake!! I wanna go! I wanna! I wanna! I wanna! I wanna!!"
She proceeded to jump on Kenpachi and began to smack him as she constantly repeated those words.
"Bah! Fine! We'll go!" Kenpachi said
A few feet away, Ikaku and Yumichika smiled as they had their arms crossed.
"Guess that party is gonna be wrecked if the Captain is going." Ikaku said
"It appears so." Yumichika said
[2nd Division Barracks]
"Captain!" Omaeda said, "Is it okay if we don't go?"
"Don't be such a crybaby, Omaeda." Soi Fon said as they walked through the halls, "We're busy, that's all."
"I mean, not to be an asshole or anything, but Lord Genryujin is going…." Omaeda said
Soi Fon stopped and without looking, punched him in the stomach, causing him to buckle.
"Ughh!!" He exclaimed as he fell to his knees
"Shut your mouth."Soi Fon said, "We're busy."
[5th Division Barracks]
"Have you heard?" Captain Sousuke Aizen said with a slight smile, "Captain Shiba has invited us to his son's welcoming party. Will you attend, Captain Unohana?"
In front of his desk where he sat, Unohana stood with her Vice-Captain Isane behind her.
"Perhaps." She said, "That aside, Captain Aizen. Are you sure? Recommending this boy as the new 9th Division Captain is unexpected of you. Especially since Captain Tosen was a friend of yours."
Aizen nodded, "I am a fool not to do so." He said, "Toshiro Hitsugaya is a remarkable shinigami. With mine and Captain Shiba's recommendation and his display of Bankai, the 9th Division will be sure to have a new Captain."
"Hm…" Unohana said
"Fret not." Aizen said, "All this is to be expected."
"We are the Gotei 13, after all."

(Genryujin's Pov)
"Congrats, Isshin!!" Katori said as she hugged my arm, "I'm so happy for you!!!"
We were in Isshin's estate, after he invited us to see the newborn kid. Katori was super excited, beyond elated.
Isshin was in his casual kimono as he let out a smile, "Thanks." He said, "I'm glad you guys are here."
I nodded, "Where is the kid?"
As I said that, the door opened and I saw a orange-haired woman with green eyes walking through as she held a baby. This was Sumiko Shiba, Isshin's wife who he had married years ago.
"Lord Gen, Katori-sama…" she said with a smile, "Before the party, please meet our son…"
Isshin walked over to her and smiled brightly, "Isn't he something!" He said, "He'll be stronger than me one day!!"
Katori and I walked over to see the kid.
"Oh my gosh~!" Katori said brightly, "He's so cute~!!!"
"Thanks, Katori-sama…" Sumiko said
The baby was a miniature Isshin, with light orange hair, I guess he got it from his mom.
"What's his name?" I asked Isshin
"Ichigo." Isshin said with a smile,
"Ichigo Shiba."
