Chapter 17: Dancing Fairies

"I don't know if others know this. But most of the people outside don't know it. Only late bloomers can do it."

Anderson stood up again. Then he walked around randomly while talking again.

"For example, take Nick. His nails and teeth. Did we see them before? No, right? That's what I am telling you. There are some specific features you can hide. For Kevin, I guess it will be his teeth. Even if you got them the first time you transform, I feel your teeth can be hidden if you want. When you are having a hard time, you can do a surprise attack on your enemy using them. And Lily, I haven't seen hers yet.

But according to my guess, I think there will be something like special poisonous vines. I can tell it by seeing your features. And next, Sheli, I am very sure about you. You are gonna get rabbit legs. When you want, you can quickly transform and speed up. And last, Thomas. I am hundred percent sure that you are gonna get wings on your back."

As he explained everyone's special features they looked surprised. They had never heard late bloomers had such an ability.

Normally, those ordinary awakeners would get all the features in their bodies when they transform. But when it comes to late bloomers, there is one special feature they could hide. When they transform they could transform without that one special feature. After that, if they had to face any need to use that, they could do a surprise attack using them. It was definitely an advantage, anyone would wish for.

"Did you get it? Late bloomers are special, not weak."

Anderson smiled at the bright faces in front of him. They looked very energetic.

"I have a special request for you. Since the five of you have a better understanding of each other, I want you to stay all together. Make a team, and work hard together. Be strong and protect each other. When the time comes, you will understand what I am saying. So for now, keep this in your mind."

It was like he was telling goodbye to them. But it was not done yet. They still had to learn a lot from him.

"I need to know if any of you don't like to speak about your form while all of you are here."

Everyone looked at each other and then shook their heads. No one wanted to hide anything in particular. They had become very close friends during this short period.

"Then I don't have to hide anything, right? I took special permission from the principal to train you. So as long as you like to attend this class with me, I am gonna teach you everything I know."

When he said that, the five looked at each other again. They were really happy. During this time they understood Anderson was a walking book. He knew too many things. Learning from him, of course, was a good thing, they would plead for.

"Thank you, sir. We will attend your class every day."

Sheli excitedly said happily.

Hearing they were grateful, he laughed.

"No no... You can't attend every day. This week you can attend every day. But from next week, we can only hold the class on Tuesday. Got it?"

It didn't matter. As long as they had someone to guide them, that was all they wanted.

"Yes!"

After that, Anderson asked Sheli, Lily, Nick, and Kevin to practise transforming within 38 minutes again. While they were at it, Anderson went to talk with Thomas.

"So how do you feel now? You must have been feeling frustrated because of the rejection by the mirror. But see! Now you already have a form."

Anderson tapped on his shoulder in a friendly manner.

"Thomas, sit down."

He asked Thomas to sit down while he was already sitting on the ground. After Thomas sat down, Anderson took something out of his pocket and gave it to Thomas.

When Thomas took it to his hand, he realised it was a pendant. It looked very old. But it seemed like Anderson had cherished it very much.

"Open it."

Thomas followed his order and opened the pendant. That old-looking pendant suddenly got very bright.

It was a diamond!

Inside the pendant, it was a blue-coloured diamond that had many patterns carved on it. Thomas looked at Anderson to ask why he gave it to him.

"What do you see?"

Anderson asked Thomas whose eyes were shining because of the beautiful thing inside of it.

"....It is a diamond."

He was confused thinking why Anderson asked that.

But it turned out that Anderson couldn't see a diamond there at all!

"This pendant is special. My grandmother passed it down to me. This pendant is only sensitive to the touch of dancing fairies. My grandmother is also a dancing fairy. She said that only another dancing fairy can see the treasure inside of it. Others only see a picture inside. I also only see the photo of my grandmother there, nothing else."

Anderson pointed at the pendant in disappointment.

'Is there such a thing?'

Thomas was very fascinated by the things Anderson told. There were things like that too.

"Why is that?"

What made Thomas curious was the reason for only letting it be seen by another dancing fairy.

"She said because it can only be owned by a dancing fairy. I don't know what is so special about that. But that was the only thing she said. I kept this with me for someone who I knew. But he is not in this world anymore. So I am thinking of giving this to you. You can take care of it, right?"

Anderson looked kinda sad. But he didn't want to keep the pendant though. However, Thomas couldn't accept such a valuable thing. So he rejected it. Yet, under Anderson's request, he took it in the end.

"Dancing fairies are not normal fairies. They are ranked in the first place of the most powerful fairies. The name, dancing fairy sounds very clumsy and innocent, right? But dancing fairies are the most dangerous kind of fairies. They have their own methods to attack the enemy. It's really hard to guess what their abilities are. Most of the time, their enemies end up with heavy injuries."

After he finished he suddenly laughed as if he recalled something funny.

"You know? When I was a child, I also wished I could be a dancing fairy. Because I grew up watching my grandmother. She is very powerful. It's really amazing to see how she uses her powers.

But during that generation, dancing fairies were seen as evil. Because of an incident, the people started to hate them. My grandmother had to live hiding. But the day she died, the magic department announced that the dancing fairies were not evil and it was a misunderstanding. But my grandmother had already left us at that moment. She must have died in pain. Everyone abandoned her and ignored her. But after the announcement, everyone came and apologised.

But who was there to listen? She had already gone."

Anderson clenched his fist in anger. His mood changed really quickly. He looked sad but also angry. He seemed to have gone through a lot. Thomas felt like people were truly absurd.

"Then, eventually people forgot it and treated dancing fairies as normal. But dancing fairies had already lost their faith in people. So they decided to build a separate clan from fairies and kept their distance from others. Later for some unknown reasons, dancing fairies became very rare. In our generation, there was only one dancing fairy that was recognized. Can you believe it?

Maybe in this generation, it could be that you are the only dancing fairy that exists! It's not impossible. That's why I am telling you are a treasure!"
