Chapter 21: Wooden hand
Others were focused on their own works.
At the same time,
Anderson was trying to find out Sheli's special ability. He asked Sheli to sit down and started giving instructions.
"Take a deep breath."
Sheli followed every instruction excitedly. She was actually a little proud because she did everything before others. Others were envious of her. And they tried their best to be the second.
But this time it didn't smell like a success. Anderson asked her to try again and again, but nothing happened. Being unable to find a special ability meant two things. Either they have to wait more or there will be nothing as special ability in their form. It was most like the second thing.
Anderson couldn't find any trace of special ability in her form.
"It's okay. When you train your legs more, we might be able to awaken your special abilities too. Don't feel down. And don't forget you have very special legs and speed."
So Sheli continued to practise her rabbit legs.
Anderson assigned her a task.
She had to make a walk to the next corner of the class within 1 minute. The purpose was to increase her speed. Instead of starting with running, he decided to start with walking fast because it won't be as tiring as running. So keeping the timing and getting less tired would be an advantage for Sheli.
"Kevin, come here."
Kevin, who was trying to transform as quickly as possible, walked to Anderson and sat down in front of him.
"Sit down."
Anderson looked at Kevin who had already transformed into his vampire form. His long side teeth were pressing on his lips, injuring his lips. Kevin didn't know how to protect his lips, so they got hurt by his own teeth.
"Bite me."
Anderson stretched his hand and asked Kevin to bite him. But Kevin looked at him hesitantly and said he can't. But after Anderson asked strictly, he had to follow his instructions. He held Andeson's hand and bit his hand very gently.
"Kevin...What are you doing? Use your teeth and pierce my skin. Just bite hard, can you?"
Anderson almost laughed out seeing Kevin biting him very gently to the point he didn't even feel he was biting him.
Hearing Anderson's voice angry, Kevin bit hard using his sharp two teeth on the corners. When Anderson started to feel pain, he asked Kevin to stop. There were two dots marked on his smooth skin. A few blood drops fell from them and Kevin almost died out of guilt.
"I am sorry, I didn't mean it. I am sorry."
He apologised countless times while still holding Anderson's hand.
"Can you stop crying? I am okay. It didn't hurt that much."
Anderson looked at Kevin who was pleading with him and said angrily. But he was not angry. He just had to act like that because if not, Kevin would never stop crying.
Kevin finally quit worrying in fear.
"Your teeth have poison. It is not deadly. It's almost like a drug. I felt drowsy and sleepy. I almost passed out."
Anderson had immunity against poison. So it didn't affect him. Along with Kevin's current abilities, Anderson felt this would be a great advantage for him.
"You should try to hide those two teeth. It is the best power you have. If you have left no choice, then use it. Don't waste your talent, get it?"
Kevin nodded as Anderson seriously advised.
"Now instead of trying to transform fast, try to hide those teeth. Do something and you must succeed today!"
Kevin straightened up and said yes very energetically.
The reason he said so was that Anderson knew those teeth were gonna be the hidden feature of Kevin. So he should better use it, only when it's necessary.
He moved to a corner and tried all kinds of things. Sheli was walking here and there while sweating. Thomas was trying to let out his wings and Nick was struggling with his tails while Lily was still trying to transform fast.
All of them were very focused and Anderson was very happy about how much they had gotten better. His hopes brightened up even more when he saw Nick finally succeed in taking control over all the tails.
"Very good. You are faster than I thought. Don't let those tails get in your way. You must keep them under your control. Then next, you should try increasing your powers. Transforming speed, increasing your level, training more to handle your hidden features are the things you have left now. Good…"
Anderson said and suddenly gasped as if he suddenly remembered something.
"Guys come here for a moment!"
He called everyone. All of them stopped what they were doing and ran to him.
"I wanted to remind you of this especially. In these competitions don't use your hidden features. Wait until you reach the point you think you will have to give up. Then use them unless you want to get defeated. Because keeping those things secret would put you at an advantage rather than fighting with them. Got it?"
Anderson saw everyone nodding.
"So do you think we can participate on behalf of our academy? Can we defeat all those groups?"
Sheli asked her suspicion she had kept in her mind for long.
"Well... I can't tell that. It's all in your hands."
Anderson didn't make any comment about his idea. But he had high hopes for them.
"No worries! We will try our best."
Nick said and others also said.
"Good."
After he said what he wanted to say, he asked them to focus back on their tasks. What Anderson had planned was to complete a certain amount of things in one day. They only had two weeks to get ready for the fight held in their academy. So time was really limited.
"Nick, focus on transforming speed. Then let's move on to the next thing."
As Nick went back, Anderson called Lily.
"Lily, your transformation speed is very bad. But not as bad as Kevin's. Yet, you have to work harder. See, now I am gonna teach you something. You must keep this in your mind."
Anderson said while Lily listened to him well.
"Your vines are very strong. You can use them to catch someone, hold someone, or even cut someone. It is deadly. About your hidden feature, I finally found a clue from a book. Can you turn your hand to wood for a moment?"
At that time, she had hidden her wood hand. She transformed her hand as Anderson asked her.
"Good! You are good at handling the hidden
feature. See, your wood hand can't send vines right?"
He asked Lily to try releasing vines from her wood hand. She tried but failed. Nothing came out from her palm like how vines popped out from her other palm.
"Don't worry. It is simply because this hand isn't made for that. Touch my hand."
Anderson stretched his hand to Lily, just like he did to Kevin at that time. He was the test subject all the time.
Lily touched his hand with her hand which had turned to wood. But nothing special happened.
"Now try what you do when you release your vines."
Anderson was waiting for the magic to come.
He was right!
Suddenly his hand also turned into wood!
Shocked, Lily immediately took her hand away. But his hand was still wood. Anderson felt like his hand was frozen. He couldn't move his hand since it was completely turned to wood.
"You see... This is your special ability. I mean this is the power of your hidden feature. I thought it would be some kind of poison vines. But I was wrong. You can turn other things into wood. We can't move the part that turns wood, unlike how you move even though your hand is wood. It's kind of a freezing ability."
"But what should I do now? It's like your hand has frozen!"
Lily was also just the same as Kevin at that time. She was very worried.
"You are the one who can do something about it. Do the same thing again you did before."
Lily quickly touched Anderson's wooden hand and did as he said. Surprisingly, his hand came back to normal, showing off his smooth snowy skin.
"You are very talented."
Anderson praised Lily who suddenly felt shy seeing him praising her.
"Thank you. I will try my best."
Anderson asked Lily to go back and practise transforming again.
Then he called Thomas who was trying to release his wings.
"Thomas, come here!"
