Chapter 7: MY FEISTY LUNA
Selena is looking forward to go home. She is in a hurry and the reason for this is, her mother bought her a strawberry cake this morning and sends the picture of it in her messenger.
"Cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, strawberry, strawberry, strawberry". She was singing those two words again and again while walking and hopping like a child.
From afar, two sets of eyes are watching her.
"She is so small, so cute". Drew commented then chuckles.
"Watch your language, she's my Mate". Luke feels protective over her. The word CUTE that comes from his Beta's mouth makes him a bit jealous. 'No one can call her cute except me'. He thought to himself.
Drew threw him an odd look. He can feel how protectived Luke over his mate but it was very understandable. Male wolves are the most possessive but gentle lover in the world. They became extremely jealous to the point that they can kill their rival or sacrifice their lives for their Mates. But they will never hurt their Mates in the process even though they risk their own lives. Luke as an Alpha is not an exemption. The worst thing is just he is a deadly opponent. Everybody knows how ruthless he is in the battle field that's why everyone feared him the most in their pack.
Luke is enjoying the moment. He loves how Selena walked while skipping. She's even singing her favorite food out loud without a care.
Selena stopped for a moment. Her eyes suddenly landed at the black Pagani parked across their street. She can sense some pair of eyes are watching her though the windows are tinted her feelings about this kind of things doesn't fail her. Looking at the expensive car she have no doubt the people inside are not simple. Her forehead wrinkled.
Luke and Drew were stunned when Selena stopped and looked at their car with a knitted brows. They can see clearly her face because they can adjust their visions and hearings as if the things that they are looking or listening to is only a step away from them even though it is really kilometers away. It's one of their benefits being a wolves of Shadow Claw.
Luke's lips curved up. "My beautiful Mate is looking right at me". He was so pleased with the scene. He was staring at his mate's face and can't help himself to smile widely.
"And I feel like she wants to come here and kill us". Drew felt a tingling sensation of slight fear in his skin. This little lady's look can somewhat be compare to his Alpha's deadly gaze. His lips curved upward. "Seems our little Luna is a bit feisty". He add.
"That's my feisty Luna for you". Luke sounds pleased when he heard his Beta complimented his Mate. "One day you'll going to end up in my arms". Luke stared at her for another minute then starts his engine. It is enough for him to see her and know that she is safely back home. "There will be a lot of time for us someday". He whispered to her even though he knows she won't hear it.
Selena saw the car drove away and she felt relieved. "Creeps!". She mumbled to herself. She continued walking home again but not singing anymore. The thought of unwanted people watching her from afar gave her a bad mood.
Home.
"Oh your here!". Erin gave her daughter a warm hug and a kiss on her forehead. "How's school?".
"Boooooring!". She answered and she heard her Mom laugh. "How's the store?".
Erin with her wide smile is clapping her hands with joy. "I can't believed a lot of people here believes in charms. I sold so many today". Happiness was written all over her face.
"So there's a lot of weird people here". Selena said lazily. Though it was a surprised for her that people in their new town don't find her mother strange.
"Don't say that, those people are our customers and because of them you can eat this!". Erin put the small round strawberry cake in front of her daughter.
Selena's eyes grew in amazement. Her favorite food is now laying in front of her waiting for her to dig in. "Okay I take it back, they are not weird, they are way too generous". Selena is salivating just by looking at the small round strawberry cake. She already forgot her tough day at her new school.
Erin already prepared two small plates and teaspoons before her daughter came. She slowly slice the cake and suppress her laughter while seeing the eagerness in her daughter's eyes. She tried to tease her by slicing the cake slowly.
"Mom your too slow!". Selena can't helped but whine. Her heart wants to explode right now. Just the smell of this delicious piece of heaven makes her heart jump for joy.
When Erin put a small piece of cake on Selena's plate she grab and smell it then eat a piece and savour the sweet flavor inside her mouth. "This is the taste of heaven". She said with her eyes closed.
Erin chuckled. This is the scene she loves to see when her daughter is eating her favorite food.
"This is so good". Selena is fully satisfied after almost eating the whole cake.
Erin laughed. Seeing her daughter's reaction gave her a total satisfaction. She remembered back then before she adopt Selena. This is the first gift she gave her in the orphanage. A small piece of strawberry cake. Since then it became her favorite. Everytime Selena whined or feel upset when she was young Erin will just give her strawberry flavored candies or bread then she would feel better. Erin knows Selena had started to have addiction to strawberry flavored food that's why she always buy her a small portion. She knows her daughter well, she can eat anything with strawberry in one sit or maybe she can even exchange her virginity for a strawberry cake. She laughed out loud for that thought.
Selena was surprised when she heard her mother laughing crazily. "Mom what the hell are you thinking right now?".
"Nothing".
Selena squinted her eyes and looked at her mother deeply. "I hope you are not thinking that I can give up my virginity for a piece of strawberry cake, aren't you?".
Erin was shocked when she heard her say those words. A naughty thoughts that's running on her head. "Wow, you can read minds now?".
"MOM!!!!!!!".
A crisp and loud laughter echoes inside the store.
Nightfall.
"I pass my first day, congratulation self". Selena patted her own shoulder. She is now inside her room and studying her lessons. She do this every night after dinner it's like a routine of her since she was young. Her mother always do the dishes every week days so that she can study well and took the days off at weekends that means Selena will be doing all the household chores unless some school activities are needed to be done at weekends. They do this routine from the time she entered school. Education is very important to her mother and also to her. That's why she study her butt off to achieve some recognition for her mother's sake.
A howl echoed in the night and it caught Selena's attention. "Wolf?". She said and stand up. She looked outside her window and there are still people walking in the street. Their store are already close but some stores and diners near them are still open.
"People here must have been used to wolf's howling". She thought because no one seems to bother going out to see if there's really a wolf outside except her.
Selena was about to close her window when she spotted two burning eyes looking at her direction. She squinted her eyes to clearly see what it really was. When a car pass by and it's lights hit the alley she was surprised. She could swear that this is the first time she sees giant wolves. One is almost ten feet tall and the other is a bit smaller. The corner of her lips lifted. She was more amazed than scared to see those kind of animals in real life.
