Chapter 27: Chapter 26

Midoriya POV

Tsuragamae!? Ch-Chief!?

Todoroki and Iida stood up as a sign of respect to the dog man. I turned my body a bit frantically and tried to stand up, but the chief's voice cut off my movements, "Oh, you can just stay seated woof."

Woof!?

"You must be the other three students involved with the hero killer incident, right?"

"Yes," Todorki responded. His voice in a slight questioning tone.

"Regarding the hero killer we arrested, he had fairly serious injuries, with burns, broken bones, and cuts all over his body and is receiving treatments under strict guard, woof. Since you are UA students, I'm sure you already know that when superpowers were still becoming the norm, the police attached high importance to leadership and standards and made sure quirks were not used as weapons. And then, the profession of "hero" emerged to fill that gap, woof. For an individual's use of force and power that can easily kill others, actions that normally would be appropriate to denounce--to be accepted officially, is thanks to early heroes who followed the ethnics are rules of the profession, woof," he paused for a second, probably to figure out how to correctly word his next statement.

"Even up against the hero killer, for uncertified individuals to cause injury with their quirks, without specific instruction from their guardians or supervisors is a clear violation of the rules. The three of you, and the pro heroes Burnin(a/n: she was once one of EndeavWhore's sidekicks and is a fire quirk user so I used her for who Todoroki interned with since, ya know), Manual, and Gran Torino, must receive strict punishment."

Oh, no now Gran Torino is going to get consequences for my actions, I never meant for this to happen…

"Wait a minute," Todoroki spoke up, "If Iida hadn't done anything, then Native would've been killed. If Midoriya hadn't come, the two of them would've been killed. No one realized the hero killer had appeared. Are you saying that we should've followed the rules and watched people get killed?"

"W-W-Wait," I stuttered.

Chief Tsuragamae, with no emotion, said, "Are you saying that as long as it turns out alright, it's okay to bend the rules?"

Todoroki gritted his teeth, "Isn't it a hero's job to save people?"

"That is why you are not a full-fledged hero yet. Goodness, what are you being taught at UA, woof?"

I could tell that from Todoroki's tense posture and aggravated expression, he was not happy.

Gran Torino put his hand up, "Hang on a minute, hear him out until the end."

"That was the official opinion of the police," the chief began, "And the punishment and such would only happen if this were all made public, woof. If this were to get out, you would probably be applauded by the public, but you would not be able to escape punishment. On the other hand, this is a bit underhanded, but if it's not made public, we could pin the takedown on your fellow classmate named Alex Kurosaki. Unlike you three, Kurosaki had permission from pro hero Eraserhead to go off on their own and the burns on Stain can easily be reported as burns from the flaming rubble during the battle. This would support that the hero in training, UA student, who goes by Z, will be the sole hero who saved the day. No one would know of your contributions nor will you get any recognition, but in return, you will be let off with nothing more than a scolding, woof. Thankfully, there were very few witnesses. This violation could be crushed here, woof. So, what do you say?"

I looked at the others who seemed still a bit too shocked to respond. Carefully I answered, "What about Alex? Are they alright with this? Are they okay!?"

Tsuragamae looked at me and smiled a bit, "Yes, they aren't severely injured and is recovering nicely. I talked to them before I came here and they said, and I quote, "If those three are okay with me taking the credit, then it's fine with me,". All we are waiting for is your approval."

"Personally, I don't want to be the one to find fault with promising young ones," he gave us a thumbs up while sticking his tongue out a bit, "because of one big mistake, woof."

"Either way, we will need to take responsibility for being negligent in our supervisory duties," Manual said with a smile and with two cartoonish tears poking out of the corners of his eyes.

Iida got up from his bed and bowed, apologizing sincerely for his irrational and emotionally driven actions. Manual lightly chopped him on the head and forgave him, but made him promise to never do something like that again.

I tilted my head downward, "I-I'm sorry."

Todoroki bowed slightly, "Please take care of it."

"Because of the unfairness of adults, you will not be able to receive the praise you would probably have gotten," he closed his eyes and bowed, "but at least, I can say, thank you for your help."

Todoroki sighed, "Please start with that next time."

The atmosphere became light again as the chief stood up straight. Thought, the comfortable silence didn't last long as we heard a chorus of voices come from the hallway.

"You're supposed to be in bed resting!" we heard a nurse scold.

"They have a visitor in there, you aren't allowed to go in!" another chimed in.

The door opened to reveal Alex in the same clothes as us with bandages all over their body and two nurses in the hallway trying to apologize.

Alex smiled as they saw us, "SUP FUCKERS!"

Manual looked at them, "Why are you in this room?"

"FUCK YOU THAT'S WHY!" (e/n : lmfao loving the energy)

Alex ran in and hugged me in a death grip, before letting go and doing the same to Todoroki and Iida. Alex's eyes looked at the chief who was still standing near the door, a bit shocked from their sudden appearance, "Oh, hi chief! Sorry, for the intrusion I just needed to make sure these idiots were alright."

Alex stood up in the middle of the three of us and clapped their hands together twice in front of their chest, "Now, that that is done with," their cheerful expression turned into a glare, "What were you three thinking!? Honestly, what you did was incredibly reckless!"

We were all in fear. Oh, no Alex's mama bear instincts kicked in. They are so terrifying when they get angry!

"Look, you three better not make me worry about you ever again or so help me, I will punch all of you into next week," after their declaration, they relaxed again and sighed while pinching the bridge of their nose.

"A-Alex? W-What are you doing here?" I asked, a bit hesitant.

They opened their eyes and looked at me with a smile, "Oh, well one reason was to scold and threaten you, the other was to check up on you, and the third was to get out of the dreadful room. Seriously, I was constantly told, don't do this, don't do that, you shouldn't move, and I was getting tired of it. So, I'm here now! You are stuck with me and I am not leaving!"

Alex walked over to the fourth extra bed across from me and sat down, leaning back with their hands behind their head and their right leg crossed over their left.

The three of us chuckled at Alex's antics. We were used to this by now and we've kinda just accepted it. The first time Alex's momma bear instincts kicked in, was on one day, the four of us along with Denki and Tsu were hanging out outside talking and having fun until Kacchan came over and threatened to hurt us if Alex didn't fight him right then and there. Let's say that the fight was over in an instant with an even more angry Kacchan and annoyed Mr.Aizawa who gave both of them a lecture.

I started to sweat at the memory.

A cough was heard at the front of the room as Chief Tsuragamae looked a bit awkward, "Anyway with that settled, I shall take my leave. I hope you all can recover quickly, good day."

The door opened again then shut. The chief along with Manual and Gran Torino leaving us alone together.

3rd Person POV(a/n: haven't had one of these in a while huh lol)

The newspaper with the details of the incident had just been published and word was spreading quickly amongst the people in the city.

"They said they arrested the hero killer!" a civilian cheered.

"Wow, amazing…"

"Seriously? Who beat him!?"

"Apparently it was this UA student. A first-year hero in training who goes by Z!"

"A first-year!?"

"That's crazy!"

"I feel better, but it's kind of unfortunate," a female civilian voiced.

"Yeah, I know what you mean."

Word of the first year who took down Stain, a person not even the pros could capture, spread like wildfire. Whether it be rumors, people watching the news, or people reading the newspaper. The number of people astonished by this student's accomplishment grew by the second. And just like that, everyone was talking and praising this new student.
