Chapter 56: War (part 6)

Riley sets his weapons out on the table in the room given to him and begins stripping and cleaning them. "Well stop leaving me in suspense." Riley says as he works. Mrs. King sighs. "According to what Jason and I could make out there is something in your blood like a parasite your family was born with. We can't make heads or tails out of why or how but your blood is mostly this parasite that reanimates the dead." Mrs. King says, scratching her head. "So my gooey life juice is actually a bunch of fucking worms?" Riley asks, pausing in his cleaning. "More like jelly fish with how it looks under a microscope." Mrs. King says, trying a joke. "Explain how that makes rotting mutilated dead bodies move cause I'm finding that part fucking weird especially since and don't get me wrong I'm not a scientist, but I'm pretty sure parasites need living hosts." Riley says returning to his cleaning. "They latch onto the existing nerves and tendons and move them somehow working off a hive mind sort of thing." Mrs. King explains. "Okay so how much do you need?" Riley asks, putting his freshly cleaned fathers gun on the table. "How much what?" Mrs. King asks. "Blood for a vaccine." Riley says staring at Mrs. King. "None if it was actually a virus we could. Hell if it was bacteria we might even be able to but parasites don't have vaccines." Mrs. King explains. "Can we give my immunity to others?" Riley asks. "The coma you kids were in I think was a form of that but no the immune system can't fight them." Mrs. King rubs her hands together. "So why bother telling me any of this bullshit? Seems like a waste of my time, Don't you think?" Riley asks. "Huh so is that why they still have wet blood no matter how rotted they are?" Riley asks as the thought occurs to him. "Yes, and the reason I'm telling you this is because it was Jason's plan. He said that people would be eager to find a cure and begin doing experiments and monstrous acts that in the end would only kill people and add to our worries. I think he wanted you to make sure that was stopped quickly and well, no offense but in ruthless Riley fashion." Mrs. King says. Riley drums his fingers on the table. "Fuck it." Riley chuckles grabbing a radio. "Allrighty everyone that can hear my slightly deranged voice listen up and fucking listen good some of you may be waiting on a cure or even some way to prevent being zombified well i'm gonna shoot that bubble my blood is swarming with the parasites that make the zombies hence my immunity and since it is a parasite and not a virus we cant do shit but don't worry I have the cure already anyways." Riley chuckles shocking Mrs. King. "Really?" she asks incredulously. Riley tosses something to her and she manages to catch it. In her palm rests a 9mm bullet. "We cure the zombies one bullet at a time." Riley says grinning.
