All other things being equal, the side with the larger numbers wins. This is why our side, with the lower numbers, made certain to create inequality wherever we could.
For example, most people mistake all spider silk as being sticky. Of course not; spiders find few things as embarrassing as being stuck in their own webs.
What they are, however, is amazingly strong. So even thin lines of silk can trip enemy soldiers in the dark. A falling soldier, even if they have the discipline to not scream, makes a good bit of noise. Those in metal armor even more so.
"Mng. What?" I asked, being vigorously shaken.
"It's time. We heard something." One of my fellow child soldiers told me.
I forget what I responded, but he then kicked me in the groin. I was awake, then.
"It's time." He repeated. "Grab your weapon."
So I've been a victim of my own success at work. The reward for a job well done is more and larger jobs and the same deadline. When I had to take a sick day, I said to myself "This is something that would happen in my novel."
Yeah, it took that to remind me I hadn't been writing in my novel recently. After a week or so, I'll be with my family for the holidays, which should give me both time and motivation to write more often.
Should. They might be better, but also hope to be writing soon. It is your support, and not the misery of my own life, that keeps me writing, and that means more to me than I know the words to express.
