I am often asked that. With senses so much better than humankind, why do I seem limited to the Insight of mortal beings?
This faulty premise... no, I'm sorry, I can't keep a straight face. No, academics is clearly not my strong suit, no matter how many Science type classes I develop. Cold logic and formal prose are just not my mannerisms.
In any event, however sharp my senses were, actually limited by my Perception sub-statistic, and even though THAT is based in Insight, the statistic not the mental event... Even then, my mental ability, or capacity, or baseline, whatever my System measures, was on that night merely a three.
Humankind normal.
But my senses were keyed up on the action, as flaming arrows traveled a graceful arc to strike my hammock suspended far above. I could hear my breathing; I knew I was becoming angry. I heard every leaf crushed under my feet, and wondered how Henri and his son couldn't hear me coming.
You may be strong, but I am fast, the hero says, slashing at the trolls with his sword. His use of [Taunt] saves the villagers around him. He willingly takes on the risk, that those around him will be safe.
Sorry, not the sort of story I'm writing. The outline had Rhishi using Charisma and social skills to... yeah, yeah. Laugh it up. I almost had to, once I got past the part where I realized I'd actually written that into the outline.
I like what I wrote better; it seems more like what would happen in Athal.
As always, thank you for your continued readership. I'm going to whimper under the covers now, glad that trolls aren't real... not in our world.
