Chapter 4: An Unexpected Result

When Eli was sent to this world, he expected a lot of things. In fact, it would be easier to list things that he didn't expect.

And one of the things he didn't expect to feel was...

Boredom.

A week had already passed since the day he took over this body, and his excitement was crushed to pieces three days after his transmigration.

First of all, he had been forbidden from leaving this place by the dragon. He was about to ask the reason but one look at the dragon's eyes completely removed any and all ideas of questioning from his mind.

Left with no other choice but to live inside the cave, he decided to explore the three mystery pathways at the rear of the cave. Of course, they were completely shrouded in darkness and without any source of light with him, there was no way he was going to go in there. But there was indeed a light source that Eli had, the [The Forgotten Chronicles of the Frost Giant Tribe].

When that book was summoned, it materialized itself from a whirlwind of sparks which briefly illuminated it's surrounding. But the problem was how to send it back to whatever dimension it came from so it could be summoned again, but even that issue was quickly solved because the moment he thought about returning the chained chronicle, it disappeared in a swirl of sparks, the same way it was summoned.

With his new makeshift light source, he explored all three of the pathways and inside them was...

Bones.

A lot of bones.

Eli tried using the bones to break the chains of the [The Forgotten Chronicles of the Frost Giant Tribe], but failed to even put a dent into the cold steel which resulted in the book being thoroughly cursed by Eli.

The next thing he discovered was the effect his aspect [Frost Giant Warrior] had on his body.

Enhanced speed and strength was expected from the body of a giant, but his most impressive trait was his stamina and endurance. He was sure he could run for hours at full sprint before tiring himself out and one of the reasons for that was... ice.

He had ice in his veins, literally.

Even bleeding became almost impossible since all of his blood was frozen.

'How the hell am I even able to move right now?'

Well, the answer was anything but simple.

All humans require energy to perform tasks, no matter how small they may be. Even simply just existing takes energy. So naturally, the human body has evolved in a way that allows for the most efficient usage and storage of energy. Our blood cells, muscles, fat are all containers of energy, waiting to be opened.

But for the Frost Giant Tribe, it was different. Living in the freezing cold, their bodies could not circulate their blood fast enough, resulting in reduced reaction time and a massive decrease in strength and stamina.

Over the course of thousands of years, their bodies evolved in such a way that blood circulation was no longer needed. Whenever they ate, instead of storing the energy into the body, it was instead converted into a mysterious force which was named 'Prana' which then seeped into their body . This force existed on an entirely different dimension, so it was impossible for it to be affected by physical forces such as the cold. Of course, this also made it impossible to be manipulated by anything except the cycle of evolution.

But maximum conversion of nutrients into Prana was only possible in adult bodies since children still needed the physical body building tissues to develop their bodies, so the closer they came to adulthood, the higher the conversion rate became. And since Eli was still in the body of a child, his Prana was slowly but surely increasing.

There was another difference between 'Prana' and regular energy circulation, and that was how energy was distributed. For a normal human, continuously running will mainly put pressure on their legs but for a 'Prana' user, instead of only one part getting exhausted, their entire body would share the strain. This had it's own pros and cons. On one hand, your stamina would be massively boosted, giving you the ability to do certain tasks for a lot longer, on the other hand, if you have to flee after clashing in a battle of swords, your speed would be drastically decreased due to to your energy being consumed beforehand. But that was not really an issue for the Frost Giant Tribe, for their massive bodies contained huge amounts of vitality and spirit.

Of course, all of this information was locked behind almost unbreakable steel chains, inside the [The Forgotten Chronicles of the Frost Giant Tribe], so Eli had no way of knowing the true reason for his body's current capabilities.

The final discovery that Eli had made was figuring out how to use his [Born of Frost] attribute. Unlike his expectations of controlling massive icicles and materializing giant frozen swords which were capable of slaying dragons, all he could do was...

Sense temperature.

Not just sense temperature, but sense it from far.

'Yeah, sensing temperature will definitely help me when hordes of monsters are rushing at me with no thought in their mind except eating my corpse.'

Although he understood that sensory abilities are important, life-saving even, he couldn't help but feel bummed out.

'I really hope I can find a way to upgrade this ability when I figure out how to increase my Rank.'

A low growl came from his stomach and with a sad look on his face, he dragged himself towards the monster corpse, what was left of it anyway.

If there was one thing he hated about his body, that would be his appetite. He had to eat almost five times more than the average human, and when the only food available was raw monster meat, the idea of fighting the dragon suddenly became much more plausible.

As he shoved the last few pieces of raw meat in his mouth while scrunching his face in disgust, he sensed an intense amount of hot and cold energy concentrated together, no doubt heading towards him.

It was the dragon.

And this time, he was not going to be flung away, no matter what.

Quickly getting up, Eli ran towards the end of the cave, trying to get as away from the dragon's landing spot and closer to that wall.

But it seems like fate did look favorably upon Eli, because before he could reach the wall to get support, the ferocious winds caused by the dragon's wings reached him, making him fall face first into ground.

"That's it, I'm killing you in your sleep tonight you damn asshole." Eli muttered to himself with a face covered in dust.

The dragon, paying no attention to the grumbling of Eli, just laid down and said in its monotone raspy voice, "Just bear with it for six more months, then we'll both be free of each other." and went to sleep, covering the entrance of the cave by spreading its giant wings as usual.

'S-Six months?! I would rather die than spend even a week more in this hellhole!'

He couldn't ask for the reason as the dragon might find out that he isn't the original owner of this body.

'If only there was some way to convince this damn beast to let me leave!'

Eli had obviously tried to leave the cave when the dragon wasn't present, but the strange line made up of runic characters seemed to act as an invisible shield, protecting Eli from the cold winds and preventing him from leaving the cave at the same time. Only the dragon had the ability to come and go as it pleased.

'Maybe I should smash my head into the wall and pretend to have amnesia, at least I'll be able to ask some questions that way.'

After racking his brains for better ideas and ultimately failing, he decided to just proceed with his first idea, which at first look might seem dumb, but there was really no reason not to give it a try.

So, with his mind made up, Eli looked at the dragon, making sure that its eyes were closed then walked to the wall next to him and...

Smashed his head.

He knew his body could take much more, but he only needed to do it once and loud enough for the dragon to hear it, and judging from the way it suddenly opened its eyes, it definitely heard it.

Eli stared at the wall for a few seconds while shaking away the dizziness and then slowly took a deep breath.

'Time to put on the show of my life.'
