Chapter 6: Torture Chamber

"Lord Jashin? Don't tell me you've received a gift of immortality from him." Boruto asked while watching her every move. He noticed that her eyes shone yellow and were most likely recording their conversation with some unknown method or Jutsu.

Scarlet widened her eyes and smiled. "I didn't expect someone as honored as you would know about the existence of our lovely god, lord Jashin! I am very pleased, but unfortunately, I hadn't received the gift of immortality, unlike my master."

'Unlike her master? So she isn't immortal yet. Good, that makes things easier.'

Boruto looked at her for a moment and couldn't find any weapon on the woman whatsoever which made him suspicious.

Scarlet noticed his look and "Ah, honorable son of Uzumaki! Don't stare at me like that...I am getting wet."

"...Do you realize what you're saying? I am six years old...Disgusting. Is that all you wish to say before your life will be forfeit?" Boruto coldly replied.

"Ahhh don't be so cold! Lord Jashin has already informed me of my role. I will accept my death without resistance! To receive the glory of the eternal afterlife! Just let me enjoy the last seconds of my life!" Scarlet spread her arms wide, smiling, awaiting her death without any resistance.

Just to make sure, Boruto teleported himself on the ceiling where his needle with a Hiraishin paper was stuck and decapitated her once he reached the floor.

Her head fell on the ground with a thud, still smiling as if she managed to accomplish something incredible. Her eyes lost their yellow glow.

'Although she said that she wasn't immortal, I can't take chances.' He pulled a paper bomb out of his pocket and threw it on top of her. He did a quick hand sign, and an explosion occurred blowing the rest of her body to bits.

Obtaining the paper bombs wasn't hard as all he had to do was to sneak into a shop and steal them. He didn't have an allowance from his old man nor could he complete missions and gain Ryo.

'I am sorry, Auntie Tenten. I will pay you back one day.'

One of the remaining shops in his village that held actual quality weapons and other ninja stuff like paper bombs and scrolls was Tenten's shop.

In this day and age, no one really bought ninja stuff all that much, so she didn't get any customers at all.

That's why he felt sorry for breaking into her shop at night.

As for why he used up a paper bomb on a dead body?

'Never take chances with opponents whose strength or abilities you cannot determine. Just eliminate them and be precise. Make sure they will stay down after you get rid of them.'

Sasuke-sensei used to say.

Boruto really wondered whether he would accept him as his disciple again. There were still tons of useful Jutsus he wanted to learn from him but he couldn't.

After his old man, Naruto was kidnapped and some time has passed, Sasuke has changed and didn't talk much anymore. True, Sasuke was never expressive or talked too much, but after Naruto's death was confirmed, he was completely devoid of emotions. He didn't even visit Sarada and auntie Sakura anymore unless they came to visit him. It was as if he lost his reason to live.

He just wandered around the village aimlessly, until he was forced to become the Eight Hokage by Shikamaru and the rest of the people who knew how strong he really was. He was their last hope of survival.

Deciding to take his job seriously, he implemented new laws, such as not going out after 10 pm, no one was to enter the Konoha unless you wanted something with the Hokage, all kinds of trades were only done with the help of internet.

Trains were stopped and ANBU were dispatched, patrolling the village every day, making sure the village was safe. So that no one else would be kidnapped again.

Deep inside, Boruto knew that Sasuke blamed himself for Naruto's death and didn't even feel like living anymore.

Remembering those painful times, Boruto felt like crying.

He searched around the throne room and found a lever under the golden throne. He pulled on it and a wall in front of him opened, revealing a dark path that led downstairs.

He followed the path and found himself in a basement. He touched the light switch and the moment the lights lit up, his face turned into a frown.

"This is..?! Seeing the scene before his eyes which could be said as the scene of the hell and carnage, Boruto couldn't believe what was in front of him. He simply couldn't understand how something like this was overlooked for so long.

How could no one find such a place?

How could no one save these poor people?

How could all of them suffer so much?

Shortly afterward, boundless anger rose in his heart, and he tightly clenched his hand, while emitting dense killing intent.

There were dead corpses all around the room. Their bodies were pierced by an iron fence, as their blood dripped into the buckets underneath. Women, children, men, elderly, everyone suffered the same fate. Pierced by the fence as if they were some kind of decoration, slowly dying while their blood was being extracted.

He looked around and noticed something else.

'Prison bars? Is this a prison? So this is where all those kidnapped people were kept. Truly disgusting.'

The smell of blood, vomit, and feces flowed into his nose making him uncomfortable.

Inside of this iron cage, countless people caught from his village and also from other villages and small towns were locked up and raised.

All of them had lost their freedom, and every day they had to endure all kinds of torture. Every day, they were waiting for their turn to die. Now their whole body was bare and filled with wounds, their lifeless eyes were blankly watching outside.

With one swift movement, Boruto destroyed the prison bars and walked inside. The people inside looked at him for a second before they gazed at the floor and stared at it blankly.

"I killed your captors...You are free to leave." He said but no one seemed to listen to his words.

When he saw the condition inside, his eyes were immediately filled with sadness.

"...You... can leave..." He said in a soft voice, trying to hold his tears in.

People inside the cage still didn't show any reaction, and as before, their eyes were completely lifeless.

"..."

Seeing the reaction of these people, Boruto sighed while standing in the cage. These people had clearly given all hopes in life because of torture, for them, death might be a better relief.

In particular, some were only seven or eight years old children within the cage, originally they should have been able to live in the bosom of their parents without any care, but here, they suffered inhuman torture.

Right now, their eyes that should have been filled with childishness were filled with death light. Their skin was pale and most of their blood was extracted, leaving them with anemia. The same applied to the rest of the slaves.

"We need to retrieve the slaves and capture the intruder dead or alive...The boss said that he will be a tough opponent. Let's be careful. We should get rid of him before the boss kills us!" Just then, some movement came from the distant gate of the mansion. It seems like the big boss sent some of his men to kill him.

"P-Please...Kill us...It hurts..." One of the prisoner's eyes regained their light once they heard that their captors were coming to retrieve them.

They would rather die than to be subjected to such torture again.

"Forgive me."

Looking at these people who had already given up all of their hopes in life, Boruto sighed, handed them 10 paper bombs, then his body disappeared.

"Thank... you..."

***

When the captors arrived, they discovered nothing other than dead bodies and traces of blood on the ground.

"Shit...Miss Scarlet and all of her men were killed! We need to be careful."

"How could they die? Were they ambushed?!"

"Was the enemy so strong?!"

Boruto appeared on the ceiling of the throne room and silently crept forward towards the unconscious ANBU and Jounin of his village. He checked their condition and after he made sure they were okay, he teleported all of them to the forest, leaving more stacked paper bombs inside of the throne room.

"It might be a waste of paper bombs...but this place needs to die. Good luck to you guys. Hopefully, you will reincarnate with your loved ones in the next life." He sighed and did the hand sign to detonate the bombs.

*BOOM!*

A giant explosion occurred and the entire place got wiped out of the existence. After the dust settled, nothing other than the floor of the mansion was remaining.

Boruto looked at the destroyed mansion one more time before he left.

Not long after he left, the ANBU and Jounins woke up.

"Wh-What's going on?"

"It seems that we were caught off guard, Fox..."

The other ANBU nodded and replied, "We are getting old...Anyway, we need to report this incident to Hokage-sama and increase security around the Hokage office perimeter. We were too careless to think that no one would attack us during peace...It's all our fault, hopefully, nothing was stolen."

"Yes...We were attacked as well...I don't remember anything after...and also...what happened here?" One of the two Jounin who was left in nothing but their underwear asked, looking at the destruction.

"I have no idea...We need to report this as well...It's highly possible that this was the hideout of those who knocked us out, but why would they blow up their own base?"

***

Before returning home, Boruto entered his hidden Illusion training ground and took a swim in a lake to wash off his sweat and the blood of his enemies.

'The lake is pretty cold but it's refreshing. I need to calm down though...'

When he thought about how many people and children have died and suffered in that place, anger took over him again.

'Not only do I have to deal with Otsutsuki, but I also need to take care of scum like this...'

He returned home and dispelled the shadow clone he left in his bedroom. The popping of the clone usually generates a loud noise but luckily, no one woke up. It would be also weird for Boruto to know Shadow clone Jutsu when Naruto never showed him the Jutsu in the first place.

'Guess I will sleep and continue my plan tomorrow.'

With that, he fell asleep out of exhaustion.

***

The next morning.

He woke up, changed into normal clothes, went downstairs but stopped when he heard a discussion between his old man and one of his friends.

"Someone broke into the Hokage office and stole the forbidden scrolls? Was he caught?" Naruto asked. He couldn't believe what he just heard. Who would want to cause mayhem in the time of peace?

"Correct, my team is already investigating. From the report of ANBU and two Jounins whose clothes were stolen after they got knocked out, we know how the assailants look like. There is also the report of blood near the Hokage vault, it appears that someone or something attacked the assailants and either injured or potentially killed one of them." A black-haired male replied with a monotone voice.

'This voice, I recognize it...But I can't quite put the finger on it...' Boruto thought.

The guy handed Naruto some papers regarding the incident and continued, "So, while you are still not Hokage, I thought that I should inform you about this as you are the hero of the village, correct? Anyway, any news about him?"

"Hm? News about who?"

"The traitor, of course. Is he doing fine?" The man showed a small smirk as he closed his eyes, awaiting Naruto's answer.

Naruto smiled wryly and replied, "Jeez...Sai...It's all in the past, you don't need to talk about Sasuke like this anymore...he was never a traitor in the first place, he was only...lost on the way of life."

It was Naruto, of course, Sai expected this answer coming from someone like him. From someone, that was his only friend.

"It's fine. I understand. You have known me for a long time to know that I was joking, right?"

"Yes, of course...It was just hard to convince people who knew that he was a rogue, that he saved the world together with me...I am not the only hero, please remember that. Even if it was just a joke. There are other unspoken names that helped to end the war, yet we cannot disclose them due to how those people were viewed in the past. The same was with Sasuke, but I just couldn't keep quiet after people shunned him."

"Understandable. I shall reflect on that. See you later, future Hokage-sama."

"Jeez...I can't wait for the day I will become Hokage! See ya later, Sai."

Sai nodded and left the house.

'So it was uncle Sai, the father of Inojin. Just you wait...Inojin...I will take care of you later...' Boruto clenched his fists and returned back into his room.
