Chapter 40: Come with me

As Lucien approached the small cottage, he slowed down. The cottage was surrounded by trees and ornamental shrubs and probably some herbal shrubs too. It was a very typical home setting for a healer. From the smoke coming out from the chimney, he could tell that someone was home and fingers crossed, that someone would be Levina.

He tied his horse around a tree and continued on foot to the door. He took steady, deep breaths to relax his nerves. When he got to the door, he stood with a balled hand suspended in the air. He wasn't sure if he should knock. Maybe he should just let things be and just go home, it was better than being rejected twice in one day.

But then Soren's words kept replaying in his head, he did not want to regret not making things up with Levina and for some reason, the thought of Levina married to some strange man and heavily pregnant, made him cringe.
