Chapter 84: Leaving

As the sun set and the full crescent moon took its place in the sky, lazily watching over the camp, the smell of death and blood clung thickly to the atmosphere. The groans of the wounded reverberated through the cool night air. Levina wished she could help, but the infirmary and its contents had been destroyed.

Her eyes fell to her side, where Soren lay snoring softly. He had helped, alongside Lucien, Zarek, and some other soldiers, to separate the bodies of dead Valorian soldiers from the bodies of the other five Kingdoms' soldiers. Zarek had severed King Ortordok's head from the rest of his body and had given it to a messenger, along with a letter, to take to the council and his father.

"You need to eat something," Lucien said, his voice a low and impatient growl.
