Chapter 2: My Luck is S**T

The first thing I noticed was the pain, to put it in perspective, have you ever been hit by a truck, because what I feel like.

After struggling to open my eyes and get my bearings I notice I'm in some kind of old hospital-like building. On a nightstand to the side of the bed I find a tall glass with an iced apple juice like liquid in it.

Reaching over with some difficulty I managed to grab the glass and as I brought it to my lips I was hit by the smell of melon Ramune making me pause for a minute. Cautiously taking a drink I noticed that it tasted the same as it smelled. It was my favorite soda which if I happen to take a guess means one that was nectar the also drink of the gods which also means I'm likely really have been sent to the word of Percy Jackson and the Olymipians.

Unfortunately before I could collect my thoughts I heard the door open.

Walking through the door was a beautiful looking girl sporting an orange t-shirt and a Yankees baseball cap. She had blond curly hair sticking out of her cap, tan skin, and memorizing stormy gray eyes. This must be Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena the goddess of wisdom.

While I was lost in my thoughts, Annabeth's eyes could be scouring the surroundings for a bit before she zoned my location.

"You're finally awake, now I can finally get my answers." she said as she rushed her way over with just a tad too much intensity for my liking.

As she zoned in on my location I raised my hands in the air and managed to force out: "I..I..I surrender."

If there's one thing I learned from my hero Spider-Man it's that yelling out a mixture of random and quippy lines can momentarily distract an opponent, well that and to go completely brain dead and fumbling on your own words whenever a pretty girl gives you a single ounce of attention.

I was worried it wouldn't work because of how smart she is in the books but the stunned look of disbelief on her face told me a different story.

So happy that worked. Feeling proud of myself for my great distraction I couldn't help the smile coming to my face.

While she is still giving me a dumbfounded look I try to start a conversation: "Great now that you don't look like you're going to charge me any more, how might I be of service?", I say as I attempt to give her a mocking bow well the best I could laying being as I was still lying on the bed.

I seem to have thrown her off her balance as it took her a few seconds to collect her thoughts before she started rapid firing questions at me: "So, who's your dad? What was stolen? And are you the one?"

Hearing her mirage of questions I was stunned but I was able to make a few deductions. First of all I was transported to a time before the lightning bolt quest was started seeing as she hasn't learned about it yet. I was also able to determine that the "One" that she was asking about was most likely Percy Jackson. I remember in the first book it briefly talked about how Annabeth placed her hope in a few other campers believing them to be the "One" before she takes her first quest with Percy Jackson. If I had to guess I was probably one of her false leads that showed up shortly before Percy did.

Seeing the impatient look on her face I attempted to reply but before I could I heard the door open again and rolling through the door was a man sitting in a wheelchair. He looks to be in late thirties or his early forties, with thinning brown hair, bushy eyebrows, intense brown eyes followed by a scruffy beard.

"Percy, it's good to see that you are awake. You had us worried for a while there for a while.", He said as he walked over.

Looking around and not seeing anyone else in the room besides Annabeth I noticed that he must be talking to me.

Shit, shit, shit. Was all I could manage to think. I don't want to be Percy Jackson. I was hoping to be a demi-god of some minor god or at the very least a clear sighted mortal so that I wouldn't be subjected to as much nearly as much scrutiny over every single action I made.

Let me set the story straight. Being the son of one of the big three gods sucks. First of all apparently you smell worse than a normal demi-god which means that leaving the camp the only "Safe" place for demi-gods is like washing your hands running up to a hungry lion and saying I'm a delicious snack as you climb into its mouth and that's just the monsters. Then you have the gods voting to kill you off because you're too "dangerous" and that you are a "Threat".Lastly and most importantly demi-gods can't use phones or any electronics for that matter because it would be the equivalent of ringing the dinner bell to all nearby monsters.

That's not even mentioning all the gods giving him fetch quests and then shitting on him and all the other demi-gods because of the gods and goddesses being all high and mighty.

While I'm facing an inner struggle and coming to terms with the fact that I am in fact Percy Jackson. The man sitting in a wheelchair that I'm assuming is Chiron the trainer of heroes walks to my side.

Seeing my stunned look Chiron asks:"Percy my boy are you alright?".

"Uhh, hello. Uhh, I think so.", I manage to stutter.

Chiron gave me a look of relief; he seemed genuinely happy to see me doing better.

I attempted to get up which was a mistake I instantly regretted because as soon as I tried, a sharp pain shot through me before I was forced back onto the bed.

"Don't try to get up, you're still recovering. We'll talk after you rest some more", Chiron said with a weary smile before turning to Annabeth.

"Annabeth, why don't delay our questions until after young Perseus has recovered some more." he said as he chased Annabeth out of the building but not before she gave me the we'll talk later look.

Knowing that there's not much I could do for the time being with the current condition of my body and worrying that someone might be watching, I didn't try to use any of my new abilities.

Trying to get as comfortable as I could I review what I've learned and what I can remember from the book and lore I can remember in an attempt to make a game plan for the future to come.
